So enjoy your videos. I'm 87 yrs old, disabled and an ex-train enthusiast. Thanks for your wonderful films of the train experience. You are taking me along with you. It brings such memories for me. Thanks a bunch!
I live in a small town outside of Atlanta called Temple, GA. I have a railroad track that runs through our town where an Amtrak train will come through about once a day. If you ever see a woman waving at you, it’s probably me 👋👋 Happy Travels!!
@julie I take the Coast Starlight fairly often and a friend lives a block or two from the tracks and she always goes to one specific intersection to wave at me and we love it…
Hey guys thanks for taking me along as a disabled army veteran I don't get out much anymore I love railroading but thanks to you I can see you the railroad thank you
A 27 day trip like this is a Bucket List item for me! I just hope I actually get a chance to check it off some day. In the meantime I will take the trip vicariously through your channel. Thank you for allowing me to travel along!!
Aloha I'm 64 yrs woman and my epic dream is to simply ride the Amtrak from Sacramento to Chicago.I enjoy watching your 27 day days including Alaska. I live in Hawai'i on the island of Moloka'i.
I am finally on my journey! Started this morning in Springfield Ma, changed trains in New Haven CT, then To DC!! You guys are so right about the service, every single person I have encountered has been so incredibly kind and helpful! I may have had a small meltdown when I found out even before hitting DC that we were already delayed 3 hours! It was upsetting because my daughter has planned this trip for 3 years and scrimped and saved and I feel bad that I won't arrive for an already paid for dinner, among other things. (Just had to get that off my chest) I've prepared all along to be delayed, as you've repeatedly warned us.. but it was disappointing. Anyway, every attendant and red cap has been phenomenal with my mobility issues and just so kind!! And I know some may not like it but I got an in roomette toilet!! Yay!! You said don't get my hopes up, so I didn't, and imagine my surprise haha. Anyway, thank you so much for your vlogs, always helpful tips, and taking the time to personally email when I had questions!! You guys are the best!
My kids gave me a trip from Texas to l a then to San Francisco where we stayed for a few days then on to Denver, then on to Chicago where we spent a night. Then back to texas. My son-in-law called red caps for assistance with getting around the terminals . I am 78 so this was a real treat especially because i have trouble getting around. The service was excellent and it was a real treat.
@debra6502 if I remember correctly, for my trip.. Massachusetts to Florida, it was around $400 (possibly $500). I just don't remember for sure, but it wasn't more than that. It was worth every penny!! I would've preferred not arriving late, but was prepared for that!!
I'm booking my first Sleeper-Car Amtrak Vacation this week, for the end of Feb. '24. I live in Las Vegas so the plan is to take the Southwest Chief to from LA to CHI, Arriving in Chicago on Leap-Day, I plan to visit United Center for the Blackhawks/Avalanche game (I'm a Capitals fan...but simply LOVE hockey so this works out too perfect), stay nearby and try some DeepDish Pizza. I've gotten some good recommendations from friends I've met dealing poker at the Westgate here in LV. Anyway, the next day I'll hop on the Texas Eagle back to LA. Your videos are making me feel like I'm fully prepared for everything! I know the food I want to try on the train, I got a little mini-power strip in my Amazon Cart, and I pack light so I'll be ready to go! Thanks for the great content, glad this trip is going well so far (I'm only 17min in lol). Cheers!
I took a trip trip from San Antonio to Michigan about 8 years ago. The ride was enjoyable. Looking at your video and giving a view of the different bedrooms, I was a bit surprised. I knew there were private rooms, but, the different styles, that I didn't know. I'm so ready to take another trip by train. Thanks for your videos and the sight seeing tours.
What a wonderful tour. Thank you 🙏 This is really a dream of mine to once in my life be able to go on at least one part of this amazing trip you have done. Would be an experience of my life to make a long train ride in the USA once. Will never come true but I'm glad to be able to watch your trip. Thank you very much for making my evening very interesting following your journey 🙏🌟🌞
Watching you two and discovering your channel, has ignited my desire to travel the country by train. I have a cross country trip from SF to DC planned in February on the Zephyr and Cardinal. So looking forward to this adventure!
We just finished the Alaska part of this video- our first time there and WOW! We did the Glacier Discovery with the Glacier Quest boat tour (3.5 hrs)- saw sea lions, sea otters, a juvenile humpback whale, countless birds, sea planes, waterfalls, and glaciers. Thumbs up for the train and the boat! The next day we went from Anchorage to FB on the Denali Star. I made sure I was wearing glasses keepers and had a sturdy strap for my camera as I spent most of the time on the open deck. Like you said, Rob, very windy! I saw your hat. A moose was wearing it and he didn't seem eager to give it up. Oh well. Saw 9 moose (one blurry pic), an osprey (good pic), swans (no pic), and a beaver (no pic). Did not see Denali. Fairbanks was also nice. We did the Chena Riverboat Tour which was really cool- history of the peoples and the land and also saw Iditarod dogs and their mushers. Thanks for the inspiration to do this trip. We enjoyed Alaska very much and would not have even thought of going inland if it weren't for this video. There is so much to see and do there, I can hardly wait to go back! A caution for those who appreciate quiet travel- do this when school is in session. Our 12 hour trip included a family reunion that had a 3-year old with no OFF switch. We did get some quiet when he napped for a bit, but then realized he was just recharging. Parents did nothing to keep him quiet and it really bothered many of those on board. He is one reason I spent almost the whole trip standing up on the outside deck. I can't wait to retire so I can do this trip sans children.
Your videos are the best train videos. I love how you put them together with scenery and commentary. I especially love your informative tips. Yours is the only 2+ hours video I have ever watched! I'll probably watch it over again and again! Safe travels Rob and Allie!
Quite a video for quite a trip! I took a somewhat similar trip in September: 6 trains (9 segments, since I got off of 3 trains and later got back on them) in 17 days, although I spent half of the 16 nights in hotels. A combination of coach seats, roomettes and business class on the Starlight (not recommended; the only real advantage was getting to use the Metropolitan Lounge in LA). My itinerary: Crescent (ATL-NOL), Sunset LImited (NOL-LAX), Coast Starlight (LAX-SEA), Empire Builder (SEA-CHI), Capitol Limited (CHI-PIT), Pennsylvanian (PIT-PHL) and again the Crescent (PHL-ATL). The Sunset arrived 7 hours late but all the other trains had reasonable delays. I visited relatives in L.A. and Seattle and attended a wedding in Lancaster, PA! P.S. Gino's East is my favorite pizza in Chicago, but I haven't tried Malnati's. (Gino's East opened an Atlanta location but closed it after only about 5 months! Boo-hoo!)
The wife and I are on the Southwest Chief right now! Left Chicago right on time. Looking forward to traditional dining tonight and the flat iron steak. You two inspired us. Met some great folks already
Stumbled upon this video. Had no intention of watching the entire 2 hours. But here I am. That was very enjoyable! The video was well done! Colorado & Pacific Northwest are favorites!
Hi, Rob and Allie, I love watching your travel videos. I been looking for some train travel blogs when I came across your video of riding the California Sephyr, I just finished watching your European or Italian train tour and the canadian tour, then I just realized I haven't subscribed to your channel so I just did. By the way that Alaska train tour I think is the highlights of this video. I always want to travel to Alaska and watching this video inspired me. Thanks for wonderful video. Safe travels!
Wow! This is nice ♥️😊 I have traveled once on Amtrak from Mississippi to Los Angeles in 2016 and I absolutely loved it. I would love to travel on the train once again. I am usually a bud rider, but I am hooked now to the train. Thank You So Much for taking us along on these wonderful trips. I feel like I am with you guys traveling. This gives me a vacation whenever I am not able to travel.
I LOVE your videos!! I've wanted to take an Amtrak trip for so long and hopefully we'll be able to go soon! At least in the meantime, I can pretend that I'm on the train via your channel. 🙂
Would be hard to say, but I did love the surprise snow. I like snow. I hope you have had the time to go to Wright-Patterson Air Force museum. It is fantastic, and less then a 2 hour drive from me. The other museum was Ft. Bragg. I don't get to travel, but I love watching others do it. You all are only one of 5 that I really like. You all interact with us. We used to see passenger trains, but not anymore. It is so sad. Thank you for taking us along.
Y'all are so cool!!! I really enjoyed watching y'all.. I was so afraid when I saw that train go down that steep mountain😥😮I almost felt that I was on it!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙋🏽♀️God bless y'all
When I was a teen in the 1980s we took a family trip to Alaska. We took the train to Denali park. Then up to Fairbanks. While staying a couple days in the park our accommodations were old train cars. It’s one of my favorite memories. I wonder if those train cars are still there. … I live in Minneapolis. I took the Empire Builder to Milwaukee last year for a weekend trip :)
Alaska and the glacier cruise, Montana, Colorado, and the pacific coast were my favorite parts, but the whole trip looked incredible! I've never traveled by Amtrak, but now seriously considering taking a trip someday. Thanks for sharing your adventures! 🙂
Thank you for sharing. I LOVED every single part of this great country of ours that you showed us. Surely God shed His grace on it. May God keep you safe in all your travels. Jesus Christ IS Lord! PS, You guys make a lovely couple ☺️
Dang! Always make me so hungry...all they do is eat, eat, eat! I miss my Train ride in sleeper "Amtrak" The food 4 meals=23 hr ride to my destination included. With my own toilet😉. Delaware to Homestead Florida & back 5/7 times a year.
Wow. This is the trip of my dreams. I have done a lot of Amtrak over the years starting in 1979... Your videos make me realize it has been 5 years since my last trip. That is way too long. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures.
After taking Amtrak from Tyrone Pennsylvania to Albuquerque New Mexico and back, I really want to do a longer trip something like this video. Thank you for sharing.
Sooo glad I found your channel!!👏👏. I have loved trains since I was a kid but was never on a long trip on an Amtrak passenger train till about 15 years ago! Better late than never😂. Am planning a trip next year from Jacksonville to Boston….can hardly wait. This will be the first time I will have a roomette.😁👍👏👏👏. Love your vids, love your insights. Be safe, Be blessed.🙏🙌
This was such a great and fun video to watch, thanks for showing the experience. I def want to plan a cross country trip. You both are awesome! Safe and fun travels 😊
I love your videos! I alaways like to see what you choose to eat for your meals. i sit here watching and try to decide what I would eat. Someday I hope to take a long Amtrak trip as there are quite a few routes to enjoy on my bucket list. Can't wait to see where you take your next trip, Enjoy!
Just finished this travel vlog, I watched it on my tv and gave it a thumbs up. I came on my iPad to subscribe and hope watching it all the way through on tv helps. I really enjoy watching you travel.
I love watching your videos, thank you. I think my favourite part was Alaska. Hurricane gulch. I hope you are both ok, you seemed tired throughout a lot of it.
In the '90's, my wife & I went on an Amtrak trip in sleeper cars from L.A. to NO, NO to B'ham, B'ham to D.C., D.C. to Toledo, Toledo to Chicago, Chicago to L.A. which took approx. 3 weeks. I had planned this trip with hotel stays & family visits between stops in order to be grounded-being in constant motion on trains for prolonged periods has a funny effect on the mind & body. I've learned that experiences such as this provide endless memories throughout a lifetime. Expensive? Yes!! Worth it? You bet it was!! We're still talking about it 30 years later, I'm sure you'll be doing the same. Good job!!!
Thanks for the comments on the Kansas City Union station. Everyone in Kansas City has contributed (in some way, (taxes)) to the rehibilitation of the Station, and we are proud of how it has turned out. The train station per say is only a small section of the station now. Also, Jack Stack is the best barbeque in my opinion.
Amen. And it's also good to mention that if there's a several hour layover in Kansas City, passengers can cross Pershing Road and visit the Liberty Memorial, aka the National World War I Memorial.
I took a Coast Starlight from LA to Sacramento (RT) 14/11 back in 2010, Vacation went by so fast, seems like a distant memory but a enjoyable on, I took Picture of my trip and put them in a top filler notebook as a memento to my journey, But your video make me feel as though I'm on the trip with you. Thank you for your Videos
Good evening Allie and Rob. If you ever take this route again and you want to go to Alaska and take the train, I may suggest that you take the Cascadian from Seattle to Bellingham and catch the Alaska State ferry up to Whittier, Alaska. Then you take the train up north. The only problem is that when they are running, there is one ferry that takes that route and it goes out once every two weeks. Then you can fly back.
Fun Fun Fun Thanks for letting us come along. I think all that food you guys had is worth taking the trip. Looks so good. Only could see a little of this so far asking where did you wash your clothes on this long trip? The hotels you stayed at? I went up in the Space Needle when I was 10 I am now 73 boy it is old. I remember the elevator only took half a second to go to the top make my ears pop.
When we were in LA or Chicago we went to our kids houses to do it, so that was 4 stops. Other than that if we really needed something we would do it in a sink in the hotel! I, Rob, went up too around that age, but I don't remember much of that trip!
Amazing video!! Makes me want to hit the rails! I've never traveled via Amtrak, but it's on my bucket list. All the different lines and getting across country seems a little confusing, but I'm sure with experience it gets easier to navigate. Thank you for providing such great content! I'm learning so much.
These two love their train travel. They got me excited .. Whenever I'm in Chicago, it's Lou Malnati's. .. Al's is a good pick , tho . When you were in NY , I hope you went to Grimaldi's
Gino's East is good, but only once per year. I enjoy the garlic crust at Giridelos (or however it's spelled) - your pizza looked like great Chicago deep!
I've taken all the western long distance trains many times over the years. All, except for the California Zephyr. Guess I'm saving the best for last. Love all your trips!
My only quibble about Chicago--I would have taken a Lyft to get to the Bacino's on Lincoln Ave. A great offering of Italian food, but the deep dish pizza is amazing. I am truly loving these videos!
You might be interested in traveling the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff. I did it and absolutely loved it. The scenery was breathtaking and the service was second to none.
Nice video. You should add some narration about places you pass. I was waiting for some information on the Hudson river while you were filming it. Same with other places that had just music. Other than that wish I had the chance to travel like that. Savor your moments for us who can't do this :D
Great video as usual. You rock Rob sporting the WS Championship shirt for our Braves. I wish you would have shown the Reton Pass. That is my favorite part of the SW Chief. PS. I live an hour north of Winona on the Mississippi River. But on the good side of the river. (In WI ;) )
So enjoy your videos. I'm 87 yrs old, disabled and an ex-train enthusiast. Thanks for your wonderful films of the train experience. You are taking me along with you. It brings such memories for me. Thanks a bunch!

Probably the best travel advisors on youtube. Others could learn how it should be done.
Thank you!

Alexa is so cute and happy ‐ just like her parents 💗.
A 27 day trip like this is a Bucket List item for me! I just hope I actually get a chance to check it off some day. In the meantime I will take the trip vicariously through your channel.

That fairbanks Alaska train is beautiful 😊... So cute your husband. He's a dare devil 😅. The gulch, scary but beautiful at the same time .
Thanks so much, and have a great trip! We hope you really enjoy it!
@GroundedLifeTravel I still love your videos, and await my next journey!!😊
@debra6502 if I remember correctly, for my trip.. Massachusetts to Florida, it was around $400 (possibly $500). I just don't remember for sure, but it wasn't more than that.
It was worth every penny!! I would've preferred not arriving late, but was prepared for that!!
May I say you both exude enthusiasm, friendliness and a bit of elegance. Thank you for sharing your love of trains.
I was at one of the National Parks in North Carolina. I just got the collectors edition of the passport to the National parks. So special to have!
I ❤ looking at these Amtrak train video's
Wow. I now know what I want to do with my life lol. This was so awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks!

Awesome! Have a great trip. Get the Cheeseburger for lunch for Rob!
Also had Robs steak and bake potato! Awesome. Sat with folks who were fans of yours as well. Got into LA ahead of schedule 😊
Stumbled upon this video. Had no intention of watching the entire 2 hours. But here I am. That was very enjoyable! The video was well done! Colorado & Pacific Northwest are favorites!

I like the invaluable info. But I also love tagging along with y’all as you travel.

What a treat to watch!
Just finished this travel vlog, I watched it on my tv and gave it a thumbs up. I came on my iPad to subscribe and hope watching it all the way through on tv helps. I really enjoy watching you travel.
Awesome! Thank you!
This is EXTREMELY tempting to me to do ... I love to travel but the stress of airports keeps me from going, never thought about taking trains
We don't enjoy airports either!
I love watching your videos, thank you. I think my favourite part was Alaska. Hurricane gulch. I hope you are both ok, you seemed tired throughout a lot of it.
We were very tired at the end. I think because we did Europe just before this, we've rested now though for a good 4 months!
Good job!!!
Agreed! Thanks for sharing your trips!
I was born and raised in the Winter Park Frazier valley area love it thank you for sharing this moment with me
Thanks for watching!
I enjoy watching your videos all the time. I really liked the added touch with the music.😊
Thanks!
Your journey is really beautiful. Train travel is on my bucket list.
Amazing video!! Makes me want to hit the rails! I've never traveled via Amtrak, but it's on my bucket list. All the different lines and getting across country seems a little confusing, but I'm sure with experience it gets easier to navigate. Thank you for providing such great content! I'm learning so much.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
These two love their train travel. They got me excited .. Whenever I'm in Chicago, it's Lou Malnati's. .. Al's is a good pick , tho . When you were in NY , I hope you went to Grimaldi's
We've never been to Grimaldi's, we will have to put it on our list!
Gino's East is good, but only once per year.
I enjoy the garlic crust at Giridelos (or however it's spelled) - your pizza looked like great Chicago deep!
Thanks, we haven't been to Geno's in several years now, maybe when we go next year.
This makes me so excited for my next trip! I loved this video and trip so much can't wait to see what's next!
Have fun!
You two are too cute! God bless y’all!❤️
Thank you
wow quite the trip very nice for sharing with us ty somuch peace out
Thanks!
I've taken all the western long distance trains many times over the years. All, except for the California Zephyr. Guess I'm saving the best for last. Love all your trips!
Very cool! Yes, best for last! Thanks for watching!
Alaska? Wow! I love these videos, feel as if I am traveling with you.
Oh my God if your daughter that's your twin I love it ❤
Yes, she is, thanks!
My only quibble about Chicago--I would have taken a Lyft to get to the Bacino's on Lincoln Ave. A great offering of Italian food, but the deep dish pizza is amazing. I am truly loving these videos!
Thanks for the restaurant tip, we haven't been there. We are in Chicago often so we will check it out!
Oh my goodness when you stepped in Starbucks Pike place reserve , I’m 67 years old and it’s always been on my Bucket list, I hope I make it.
Wow, we loved it! Hope you get to go soon!
Thanks from Fiji, ❤ America.
You might be interested in traveling the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff. I did it and absolutely loved it. The scenery was breathtaking and the service was second to none.
Thanks!
(In WI ;) )
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Wonderful vacation! Even if it winter...
Yes it was!
