  • This week's episode of Tool Review Tuesday features the Husky 6 ft Heavy Duty Workbench. The features include a solid wood worktop, foldable legs, adjustable feet, 2,300 lb capacity, and height adjustment from 35"-42". This workbench weighs 128lbs and is perfect for the shop, garage, or even inside the home. I believe this workbench is a great purchase for the DIYer, homeowner, or experienced woodworker/ builder. This workbench can easily be moved around by 2 people, especially because the legs on each end fold in for storage.
    The latch system makes it very easy, with no tool required. One other great feature that should be near the top of the list is that a power outlet strip is also built in, including 4 outlets and 2 USP ports. Please feel free to leave a comment or question down below.

    Husky has another model that’s almost identical but with a depth of 24”, whereas this is 23”. The other model (G7200S-US) is about $15 cheaper but doesn’t have a power strip. A surge protector power strip with USB is easy to install though and costs about $20. The other difference is that the other model has a long apron between the lower legs as part of the frame, in case you want to install a lower shelf. This doesn’t. Both are fantastic workbenches.
    Update: THE G7200S-US IS *NOT* A FOLDING TABLE. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

    The side to side wobble is rather annoying. One fix I made was, I inserted ~2in washers between the inner and outer legs at the two bolts per leg. The lack of a plastic insert between the inner and outer leg is a sad oversight. Would have also made sure the paint doesn't scratch when the legs are adjusted in height.
    The washers didn't solve all of the wobble though... The main issue is the square tube at the top does not sit flat onto anything (look under the table and you'll see a ~1/4" gap. This and the fact that the slots the legs slide on, the welded in place bar doesn't rest at the end of it's slot and the bolt diameter is too small/slot for bolt is too big... This allowing wobble.
    Easiest fix, probably finding a bolt diameter that is a tight friction fit. This will restrict side to side motion, and some wood/composite shims in that 1/4" gap will double down on reducing wobble while still making it easy to fold up and pack or move if ever needing to!
    Quality of materials is all good, attention to detail of fit and function is disappointing...

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great suggestion there. I can deal with the wobble when it's raised up high, but would like to try your idea to minimize it. I've thought about adding a cross brace between the legs too.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. If the table is outdoors in the elements, I believe the finished top of the table will repel water and the steel legs are painted well. The underneath part of the table I believe is unfinished, so if water splashes on there, it might not be protected. A cover would be my recommendation. If it were under a roof in an outdoor setting, then you may be okay. It's a nice looking workbench.

    I am looking at using this workbench as my desk. Is it possible to reverse the wood top so that the power outlets are facing the back but you still have the cantilever in the front? Also, do you believe the wobble would be noticed inside the home on flat hardwood floors? Thanks for the video!

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it's flush on the back side, opposite the outlets. My wife is using it as a stand up desk and likes it. I've never noticed the wobble being an issue for her. If you have it raised all the way up and doing some sanding, then it will rock a little. The Husky crank up adjustable table on wheels doesn't seem to rock. I may get that for my outdoor reviews. The wheels make it easy to rollin in and out of the garage. Hope that helps!

  • @maryhastings3148
    @maryhastings3148 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You didn’t discuss the addition of wheels. I noticed that there were pre-drilled holes on the legs.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point, sorry about that. I prefer not having wheels on this, but you can add them as an option. I have wheels on my other Husky work table.
      It has a crank up adjustable height which works well. The wheels hold nice and solid when int the locked position.

    Couple of questions: Husky also makes this table in a folding version, where each side leg folds inward and the top folds down on a hinge, but I would like to switch out the leveling inserts with wheels to make the table easy to move around in my garage, and I would like to add a top that is 30" wide, as I'm not sure the 24" top gives me enough depth.
