The Hanuman Chalisa is a Hindu devotional hymn (stotra) addressed to God Hanuman. It was authored by the great poet Tulsidas in the Awadhi language, and is his best known text apart from the Ramcharitmanas. The word "chālīsā" is derived from "chālīs", which means the number forty in Hindi, as the Hanuman Chalisa has 40 verses

Uttara is a blessed singer ..she has a voice of milk and honey....listening to her singing is like a cool breeze on a hot summer morning....the flow of Ganga & Saraswati.....chirping of birds ....peacocks dancing.....

My husband's Athai or Buaji used to chant Hanuman Chalisa 21 times every Tuesday. She would keep 21 Chanae ka daana, light a lamp and keep Suji Halwa or Rutt Prasadam in front of Hanumanji.
Rutt is made by adding ghee and melted jaggery, coconut, Eliachi and kishmish andnuts to wheat flour, mix it and knead it and make it like a Parantha with pure ghee. It is supposed to be a favourite of Hanumanji and Narsimha Bhagwan ji
