  • Bryce Harper has always been a baseball card superstar. People have loved collecting, trading, and speculating on his cards since 2008 when his USA rookie autos were released. Bryce Harper has had a magical run the last few postseasons. While he did not win a World Series either year, he performed extremely well and has cemented himself as a Phillies legend. In this video we break down Bryce Harper rookie cards, compare him to other baseball card greats, and discuss which cards we would buy.

    Just came across this one. Topps pissed me off to the max last week when they decided to replace a redemption I submitted over a year ago with a 2017 bryce harper bowman chrome ascent orange auto /25. The card they chose to not send me was a 2021 Bowman’s Best dual auto nolan arenado/paul goldschmidt /25. We argued about the value of each card but they didn’t want to hear it. I’m still annoyed they did it but learning to live with my first Harper auto…maybe i’ll even hang onto it.

    Collecting is in a weird place with how many parallels there are, as well as how many 1/1s there are. Second and Third year 1/1s or SSPs just add more rare cards. If I invest, I usually don’t go set by set in cardboard connection to find the history or SSPs for third year of a player. I assume most others are the same. A small group might, but when investing you typically want something that has a lot of liquidity, which RCs have. I’d rather have a Barry Bonds opeechee RC PSA 9 than a SSP from topps 2015.

    • @SpitballinCards
      @SpitballinCards  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rookie will definitely always have more liquidity. No argument here.
      If you’re looking to buy or sell a trout update base gem, there are always buyers and available copies.
      But when a truly rare card comes up for sale, bidders come Out of the woodwork.
      Thanks for watching!

  • @jonsmith479
    @jonsmith479 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    @SpitballinCards also, aside from looking at pop reports, how can you possibly keep tracking of which harper is an SP, which is SSP and which is SSSP? between sliding, red hat, batting, screaming. Jeez.

    • @SpitballinCards
      @SpitballinCards  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s hard to keep it all straight.
      First - know what the base card image is. You’ll see it on every parallel, so you can recognize it. Any other image you see is some kind of variation/short print.
      Second - if your eyes are good enough, there’s a code on the back of every card. All base cards end in the same 3 numbers.
      All SP end in the same 3 numbers.
      All SSP end in the same 3 numbers.
      So when I doubt, check the codes.
      You can Google “2018 topps baseball checklist,” or “2018 topps variations” and usually Beckett or cardboard connection will have the codes posted - and eventually the images.
