- To start off the spring season of travel, we ventured down to Colombia. The trip to Medellin, Colombia was short but amazing. It was our first journey to South America, and the first trip we didn't visit the ocean or any body of water. Our time in Medellín was packed with tours, sight seeing, many delicious restaurants and coffee. For Americans, Medellin is currently very affordable. The current exchange rates make every activity within reach for a budget conscious traveler. We spent our time Horse back riding, visiting coffee farms, eating delicious cuisine, and touring the city.

Video information:
Most of the video was filmed with a Nikon D3300 with the kit VRII lens as well as a 55 - 200 mm lense. The hyperlaps was shot using the 55mm VRII kit lens. The Samsung galaxy 6s was used as well as a sony action cam for a few scenes.

i really appreciate this video, its time that people see Colombia in some other light... yes we had issue in the 80's & 90's but that's in the past now. Colombia is a growing country with lots to offer.

Your video is so well done! It looks so crisp and the transitions are seamless. Thank you for sharing. We just got back from Medellin yesterday. I just want to add (to what everyone has already said) that the people are genuinely friendly and welcoming. As Americans, we hear a lot about crime and where to avoid, whom to avoid etc. so we can be defensive. Many people would approach us, welcoming us to the country and were really just trying to help. It took us a couple days to let the wall down. After, we had an even better time. It's a fine line of course, but know that everyone who approaches you isn't necessarily trying to rob you.

the best 3 weeks of my life were spent in Medelline it was a few years ago and I went there with a person from Medelline that was living in the USA so I got to see how people actually live and experience the real food and life of Medelline and surrounding areas...great vid
i may go for Christmas again. the lights there are so awesome. but my current destinations for summer are Venezuela and peru.

I appreciate your kind words about Colombia. We share something equal here. We had an town house in Santa Marta previously, and visit regularly. I Strongly recommend a visit to San Andres. The place is Magical, believe me.

Thats only because you haven't visited Bucaramanga, Colombia yet. It is smaller, and it is known as Colombia's most beautiful city and the city of parks. Medellin is nice too, but I can't live there due to the constant downpours.

I am a Colombian living in the US and I feel now Washington DC or Baltimore is way more dangerous than Medellin, and even Philadelphia or New York, in these US cities there are places you should not go even under day light. And sadly this applies to most of the major cities in the US. I visited Medellin 20 years ago and it wasn't that bad although is a different kind or crime, in Colombia you could be killed for a reason like dispute between cartels, bad friends, etc... but in the US you can get killed for nothing, in a school, road rage, etc many people have weapons in US

Yep... And of course I am not saying there is not crime in Colombia, there is but chances are small.. as it is in any major city in any country. I know a friend being mugged in France, Italy... It is a matter of common sense.... anyhow... nice video!

i was just there and i love medellin, but there is so much contamination.. i got soo sick.. but if you go to the countryside is gorgeous.. its just sad that such as beautiful place is so polluted
Actually the pollution is a recent problem in the city, they are trying to know what's happening, but believe me my city don't looks like in that way everyday, I have photos of that. And I hope you enjoyed my beautiful city. :3

After having lived in Colombia S.A. for 9 long years. It's a little different , but I thank GOd for everything ay! You chose the two best cities in Colombia. I live in Medellin, but nights in Cartagena are magical, and could tell you they are safer than in medellín. But that two cities are spectacular and you can feel the same. The nightlife is very cheerful and happy. Your welcome here :)

I've been all over the coast.. interior of the country .. these tourist type of videos just seem cheesy .. people base their education on a city by watching these .. medellin is a nice spot .. but don't hesitate to investigate places like Armenia.. one of my favourites.. very nice people.. less advanced but if you love real people and a safe environment.. same climate .. stunning countryside.. another spot worth looking into .. I just hate visiting a place like a tourist.. it's like you're being displayed in a freak show
Orca Trip go to Armenia and the surrounding areas.. very safe place with amazing countryside .. you'll find small towns along the way .. I like the area because of that.. you'll be in a much poorer place but the kindness of the people make it worth the trip .. my Spanish isn't fantastic but every year improves.. I started off learning in barranquilla which is the most difficult place you can choose .. costanians .. spelt wrong I'm sure are the fastest speakers with heavy slang .. people from bogota or medellin have problems understanding lol .. my advice to people that want to really enjoy a trip there .. learn the basics of the language .. I usually stay there for 4 months every year and travel throughout .. but I'm focusing on medellin and surrounding area for a permanent retirement home
