  • On a return trip from the Shipley model railway exhibition in September 1994, we stopped off at Healey Mills, Tinsley, Worksop, Toton and Derby. This is a record of what we saw that Sunday - rescued from some old 8mm video tapes which I recently discovered.

Thanks very much for this video Kier. I have been an avid viewer of the EMgauge70s page for years and love all your work.

Quite sad seeing all those locomotives stood down and the yard’s laying idle or pulled up 😢 I had many a happy day train spotting in those locations back in the late 70s on my Honda C250 from Manchester 😀 Toton had all the class 44s stored if I can remember just at the beginning of the yard after the road bridge A52.

I live near Toton, all them engines are still there, sadly rusting away. Always a sad sight walking up that hill and seeing what has effectively turned into a mass graveyard, even if they are diesels.
