    Thanks for the updated video! I've been watching the saga between these and think they're both winners. Currently have the Pro 3D, but plan to try the regular Cairn as well. If you have time to keep posting updates, it would be awesome. I think you have some of the best comparison videos out there.

      Wow, Thank you ! I massively appreciate that. I’m doing a three day trek next week I will review them again then over multi days .
      My videos aren’t that great, but I try to be honest I will try to make my videos on smoother. I am purchasing a gimbal to help with this.
      Thanks again

    You can send them in and have new soles put on for less than what a new pair cost.

      I think you can in the states 🤔 I live in New Zealand. So it’s a little bit different with the shipping costs
      Maybe that has changed recently 🤔
      Thank you. I will look into this again. as I am hoping to get my old ones done.

      @@16yearstravel Yeah I guess the service would be different if you’re not in the states. I always take that sort of thing for granted.

    Thanks for this. I went for the 3ds since for biking a more rigid sole will be nice. Not to mention to not feel the spikes of my mountain bike pedals through the sole!

    Good video on the 2 Bedrock sandals you have. I love Bedrock sandals they are awesome to wear. I have a pair of the cairns & i love wearing them everyday to work. They hold up well for the type of work I do being an long distance Truck 🚛 driver. My footbed looks just like your footbed do. I love ❤️ how your footbed has a worn-out smooth footprint on the footbed just like mine do except mine has a 4 toes footprint because my lil toe hang off the footbed of my sandals because I have big very very Extremely wide feet 🦶. The worn-out smooth footprint footbed is a good thing man because it show The true mileage you are putting on the sandals. I am thinking about getting the 3D one too. I love these sandals because since I have very very extremely wide feet 🦶 they are so easy to put on my feet 🦶 then flip flops 🩴. I love my flip flops 🩴 but my foot get Court up in the flip-flops straps when I trying to put them on & i don't have that problem with my Bedrock sandals. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing it.

    Really helpful review. I'm looking into these for Camino de Frances in May. I'm into barefoot shoes for running and day hikes but was looking for something a bit more substantial for a long hike while also avoiding blisters (often a problem for me in boots etc). Can only source the 3D's in the UK (£50 more to buy the regulars from the US) - it seems though like the difference is close enough. Will still be taking some trainers too of course so I can swap if needed 😅

    • @16yearstravel
      @16yearstravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can deathly not go wrong with these they are bombproof
      they are a bit aggressive when you first get them ( tough material ) I’d even wear these in more than I would wear a pair of boots, in. Am also into barefoot
      take some moisturising cream for the backs of your heels, as the Camino dries your feet out - side tip 😁

      @@travismoore7763 the 3-D version have a softer bubble effect on the soul - they aren’t as aggressive as the Sandpaper style, diamond shape on the “non-3-D” version.
      Bought both are very stiff, given that minimalistic Look. I suggesting putting a minimum of 50 miles to 100 km on them before going.
      I envy you walking the Camino - I hope to walk again someday soon
      Last tip - after walking 4 Camino’s
      Don’t get caught off in powerwalking with other people or trying to keep up with them. I made that mistake. I was usually the 1st to the accommodation. I learned my lesson, the hard way it’s much better to walk as if you have all the time in the world, and remember when you just want to get there. Remember where you are what you’re doing and slow down.
      Lastly, talk to everybody, but never ask them why they walking the Camino foursome. It’s a very private affair and they will let you know if they already
      Buen Camino !

      @@16yearstravel I think I'm going with the non-3D's after all (no stock in the UK so have to order from the US anyway). I always enjoy ground-feel in my shoes so I think they'll suit me best.
      I'll be sure to break them in properly before I go, it's been a bit since I've hiked so I could use the training anyway ha
      Thanks so much for all the tips, I'm really looking forward to it!

    If you were to walk the Camino with your loaded backpack… how long could you walk in each shoe before foot fatigue set in? Curious to know and what the difference is. Thanks and good review. If you have the interest, check out Luna sandals and do a comparison. Very similar.

      I walked every day apart from a few with the bedrocks, the thin ones, cairn pro 2
      The answer to your question is it varies
      Sometimes there were eight or nine hour days - some days 5h days when I was travelling through France
      I don’t suggest anyone goes straight out and starts doing those types of big days until they have built their feet, ankles and micro muscles up, through months of use with them…
      also, I just don’t like wearing boots/ trainers at the Best of times.
      my feet can’t breathe and I feel like I’m at work.
      as soon as I put the bedrocks on, I’m back on holiday again 😁
      If I remember, I walked with them straight for just over two weeks maybe more 🤔and then I put the trainers on for one day and went back on to them ( bedrocks ) for another week and then the trainers.
      so I suppose having some soft trainers to take the load off every week or every other week does help. but everyone is different and all depends on the individual in the end
      Hope this helps 🙏

      @@16yearstravel sorry, my question was a bit ambiguous. I wanted to see the *difference* you’d expect on the Camino (in kilometers or miles) per day with each type of shoe that you were comparing in the video… Cairn pro v 3D pro 2.
      I’m an experienced minimalist shoe wearer and hiker. I’m thinking of going to Cairns and wonder how big a difference the foot fatigue factor is between the two models in your video. Do you think you could walk more miles more comfortably with the 3D pro 2?

    • @16yearstravel
      @16yearstravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RC-qf3mp the answer to your question is definitely… I think the 3-D version would make it a lot easier on your foot on the Camino
      The reason I brought them is because I wanted to try to walk a full Camino with just those 3D pros and see what happens in regards to compression - my last ones, (cairn pro )compressed by nearly half .
      so if they do the same, ( 3D ) they would be roughly the perfect thickness
      In ending - I would suggest 3-D pros for the Camino for sure 👍

    • @RC-qf3mp
      @RC-qf3mp ปีที่แล้ว

      @@16yearstravel ok thanks. But the compression takes away from the degree of cushion. The cushion is in the air and space between material. When the material breaks down, it loses that space and becomes less soft/cushiony. Like smashing down feather pillow . The mass of the shoe stays the same, only it becomes compressed. All shoes with cushion eventually break down.

    • @16yearstravel
      @16yearstravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RC-qf3mp yes I agree - the reason I mentioned it is because I like the minimalistic feel. The 3D are a bit thick for me, ( day to day use on the trails ) but after walking at Camino, or whilst walking, they could compress to the perfect thickness over time ( to give me the cushioning and also, the minimalistic feel.
      so I can enjoy them similar to the cairn pros. With the addition of a few extra mm underfoot. Even when fully compressed.

    Hi! Im bout to buy the 3d version but i don't know the right size for me still... 12 maybe is too much even though the bedrock recommends adding 1.5-2 cm more, actually my feet are 27,5cm and my sandals are 28 cm long although my heel sticks out a bit... Wich size do you recommend? Thanks a lot!

      Great comparison. However, I have read that the Cairn Pros are desugned more for water and wet, muddy conditions and the sole might be overkill if you're only wearing them in dry warmer weather. I am transitioning from decades in Tevas and want to get the right ones first time as they'll ne coming from America - (cant find any UK sellers at all! - please let me know if you know of any!)
      So wont be able to be sending them back. I would love to get your opinion on wht I should get for mainly dry warm weather hikes and possibly for paddleboarding in. Spend a lot of the year in southern Portugal...
      Many thanks in advance👍😎
