Something I noticed on rewatching the fight: Megatron won the war with literally his first strike, showing his centuries of experience. Cybertron has seemingly been evacuated, showing his forethought on Frieza’s arrival, and his first move was to destroy Frieza’s only means of transport away from the planet he is on, and to the rest of the galaxy at large. He knows at the start of this fight, I think, exactly how it will go. He can’t kill Frieza, but he can push him further than Frieza expects, make him expend all his energy, and cripple him in his most powerful known form. And so he does. And, while Frieza’s empire may come looking for him, I wouldn’t count on it. Frieza is feared and reviled in the modern Dragon Ball setting, those loyalists with him are likely the only ones with an active interest in keeping him alive. He leaves Frieza adrift, alone, low on Ki, his body half dissolved, drifting in the void of space for eternity, just as he said in his monologue. Frieza may have won out in the actual battle to the death, but Megatron’s wit and brilliance prevented the death of his people, and left his foe weakened enough that another fighter may be able to finish what he started, if it comes down to it. TLDR: Megatron lost the battle, but won the larger war, Frieza is in no condition to travel space with his Ki reserves depleted, and his body in ruins. Frieza has no means of transport, or navigation between stars, or even means of sustaining himself along what could be years of travel to the next closest celestial body with actual sentient life. Megatron traded his life and the planet he held so dear, for overall victory and survival of his people, ever the brilliant tactician. A fitting end.
There's also the human cost. Megatron, in a single shot, murdered multiple soldiers (the storyboard shows Appule straight up getting deleted), so Frieza, on top of that, lost a significant number of his troops. Based on real life conquest campaigns, he potentially brought some of his best men to this mission in case things got dicey, and will now have to rearrange his troops to make up for the losses.
Frieza will likely be killed by Optimus Prime, Shockwave, SixShot or any other .1 Percenter easily or Primus himself wakes up and erases Frieza from existence if we continued. Your whole explanation is amazing and very true to Megs Character. That's the reason why I consider Megatron to be the Greatest Villain Ever especially the Animated and Prime Version.

There's also the possibility that some Cybertronians out there may be powerful enough to threaten him like Megatron did (Not to mention every Autobot and Decepticon alike is gonna want his head on a pike after destroying their planet). He wants to kill the Cybertronians because he sees them as threats, not wanting to make the same mistake he did with the Saiyans, but leaving them alive wasn't the mistake he shouldn't be repeating. He's basically made an enemy out of ANOTHER potentially dangerous race. A frozen soul that never learns indeed.
But if this episode continued longer than I'm sure a lot of Cybertronians can easily beat Frieza and his remaining army. The 0.1 percenters, Wreckers, DJD and also solo bots like Shockwave, SixShot, Overlord, ThunderWing, Optimus Prime etc. Realistically Frieza Lost Because if Megatron is gone. The whole Deception Armada will want his head

@NossoMonstro his Ki reserves are likely drained after that fight and more than half his body missing. Not to mention that even if he could still fly at FTL, would even he know where he's going without navigation? Space is really really big after all, it's easy to get lost.
I’m more Megatron but yeah I knew Frieza would win. But watching Megatron break Frieza mentally was so satisfying and hey even if he lost, he hurt his pride hard.

I like how Frieza begrudgingly respects Megatron and his people more after getting his body mulched and his ego bruised. He couldn't be bothered to remember the name of the planet at the start, but by the end, he'll remember the term "Cybertronians" well...
I don't think "respect" is really the right word to use. It's more like he acknowledges how strong they are, and he sees them as a total threat. In a way, he now fears them.
He may not have been the victor, but Megatron totally stole the show here. That last stand of his at the climax is one of my favorite moments of this whole show, and I'm not even a Transformers guy. And when your response to seeing a gigantic ball of death hurtling toward you and your home is to rocket jump toward it while cackling like a madman... Well, that's how you make an impression.

Megatron: Yes Starscream, I was well aware of the outcome, Soundwave informed me of this alien’s power, so the best I could do was weaken him enough for one of you to finish off. Megatron: No, allow me to explain things, such as what happens to those who defy me. (Megatron blasts Starscream with his fusion cannon til his spark was no more)
@@gadverb6003 I mean it's not impossible cannonically speaking Megatron did something very similar to it in the Beast wars when he used the Golden disk to send a message to his descendants to go back in time and kill optimus in the Ark because he already forsaw his defeat against the Autobots.
Am I the only one who thought Megatron was gonna take a page out of his IDW counterpart and keep Frieza in his Panic Pubble and annihilate him with his Anti-Matter.

That certainly is A win condition, but it's a weak one. Frieza is way to fast for Megatron to ever really land a blow let alone trap him. Not to mention Friezas ki barriers nullifies the anti matter completely.
Realistically that is how the fight would actually go, especially considering how easy it is to make Frieza mad and irrational, and how good Megatron is at strategy and mental gaming people. I feel like the contrast between their personalities wasn't made a serious factor in the fight, nor was the panic bubble despite how it should be one of Megatron's most important moves vs a faster opponent like this. And then there's the antimatter... which, I've never actually read the IDW comics, but it did not take a whole lot of research to learn their interpretation of Megatron's Antimatter ability was completely wrong and incredibly nerfed.
Yeah, because Anti-Matter isn't really like Hakai. it's a move that will always bypass durability no matter what. I thought megs would teleport Frieza to the black hole where he keeps the anti-Matter, so a huge amount of it can overwhelm him and then kill Frieza.
Megatron triggered Frieza into using a form saved for one-tapping the literal strongest people in the Dragonball universe... In his own way, he kinda won this fight

The winner was obvious from the matchup but that still didn’t take away from how amazing this fight is. Great job on the animation, music, voice acting, and everything else!
Yeah I was a little worried that Frieza was gonna lose. This was the only time I wanted to see him win. Only to find out I pretty much had nothing to worry about… I love this fight a lot.
Frieza actually probably should have lost. They gave him the W because too many Dragon Ball characters have lost and it would be a bit unsightly to have yet another one lose, and honestly the fight is close enough that they can asspull justification for either one winning since they're both effectively outerversal gods. But they got Megatron's Antimatter ability very wrong and nerfed it a lot, and that's a very big factor to just get completely wrong. That plus the panic bubble nullifying Frieza's speed advantage should have been a very big problem too, and there's no arguing against the fact that Megatron is the smarter fighter and better tactician. That and, I think it was a factor that they had an idea of how they could end the fight in a way where both parties had a satisfying conclusion - Frieza "wins" the fight but really he loses in every other conceivable way. If Megatron were the winner, it would be hard to give Frieza a similarly satisfying conclusion. But if you actually look up how cracked IDW Megatron is... yeah, he should have won. I was shocked to learn how crazy strong he actually was when I researched him, and I can promise you death battle massively downplayed him.
It's really not that obvious once you read the comics. IDW is like Archie Sonic where it just makes them OP for no reason and was written by insane people.

Even his Leon's of experience will need considerable luck to land his antimatter attack over Frieza's whole body (he can survive in smithereens). When it comes to sheer might, few can withstand Dragon Ball's roster.
Theory: Megatron knew Frieza was coming and that his people stood no chance of defeating him. Because of this, Megatron evacuated Cybertron in the event that he died and Cybertron was destroyed and stayed behind to fight Frieza.
Yeeeeeeah and well if Megatron did that much damage I can imagine the second Cybertron explodes someone like Optimus will know and he will search for Frieza possibly with other powerful Cybertronians.Translation Megatron lost the battle but his people won the war.

Sorry, but a character like Frieza is OP is the “Transformers” universe - there’s no way he was going to walk away alive. Nonetheless, Negatron did manage to leave him crippled and stranded in space: this pretty much guarantees that Frieza’s victory is a hollow one…
It could have been nice if they added in the Remastered version of Final Formers in this one. But it’s still pretty freaking good. I do hope that they add in The remastered versions of Their Other Vocal songs in the other battles that they upload.
2:49 A giant sphere of death screaming toward the planet--the end of the world right on the horizon. Most sentient beings would fall to their knees in despair, praying to their gods for mercy. Megatron is not most sentient beings. He faces the Death Ball head-on and laughs maniacally as if to say, "Challenge accepted.", confident he can repel the attack and save his world. And Megatron just might have succeeded, had Frieza not pulled Cybertron itself up behind him.
When Frieza vs Megatron first came out, I went in thinking that Megatron had a good chance of winning considering they were using IDW Megatron iirc (Who I heard was really strong) so I was surprised when they said he isn’t even stronger than RoF Frieza. I think both Frieza and Megatron are cool and loved the Death Battle anyway. Definitely in my Top 5 favorite 🔥

@@EvilSuperFella200 Something to note: Not a single Cybertronian other than Megatron is seen, and the ones that are left on Cybertron are all warriors of the highest caliber that have been fighting nearly as long as Optimus Prime and Megatron. Which begs the question, "Where are they?" and the answer is "Not on Cybertron". So just Megatron put Frieza in that state at the end, and in terms of power, there are far stronger Cybertronians (like Shockwave) than Megatron. Meanwhile, Frieza's soldiers he brings with him to threaten Cybertron are wiped out at the start, and he has no means of communication without his ship. Megatron said it himself: "Behold the mighty Lord Frieza, ruler of a dying planet- MY PLANET! Where is your army? Where is your ship? So powerful yet you will wander the depths of space for eternity ALL BECAUSE OF ME! What a fool". The crazy part is, he was right. Frieza expended resources making an enemy of a race that has members that live for eons and never forget a grudge, whilst making a martyr of one member of that race who had already outsmarted him by evacuating the planet Frieza had come to claim. Megatron won the war before it even began. The only things he lost were the battle and his life.

The experience is the only ultimate advantage over Black Frueza, but an underestimated one.

I don't think "respect" is really the right word to use. It's more like he acknowledges how strong they are, and he sees them as a total threat. In a way, he now fears them.

That certainly is A win condition, but it's a weak one. Frieza is way to fast for Megatron to ever really land a blow let alone trap him. Not to mention Friezas ki barriers nullifies the anti matter completely.
Realistically that is how the fight would actually go, especially considering how easy it is to make Frieza mad and irrational, and how good Megatron is at strategy and mental gaming people. I feel like the contrast between their personalities wasn't made a serious factor in the fight, nor was the panic bubble despite how it should be one of Megatron's most important moves vs a faster opponent like this. And then there's the antimatter... which, I've never actually read the IDW comics, but it did not take a whole lot of research to learn their interpretation of Megatron's Antimatter ability was completely wrong and incredibly nerfed.
Yeah, because Anti-Matter isn't really like Hakai. it's a move that will always bypass durability no matter what. I thought megs would teleport Frieza to the black hole where he keeps the anti-Matter, so a huge amount of it can overwhelm him and then kill Frieza.
Megatron triggered Frieza into using a form saved for one-tapping the literal strongest people in the Dragonball universe...

Yeah I was a little worried that Frieza was gonna lose. This was the only time I wanted to see him win. Only to find out I pretty much had nothing to worry about… I love this fight a lot.

Frieza actually probably should have lost. They gave him the W because too many Dragon Ball characters have lost and it would be a bit unsightly to have yet another one lose, and honestly the fight is close enough that they can asspull justification for either one winning since they're both effectively outerversal gods. But they got Megatron's Antimatter ability very wrong and nerfed it a lot, and that's a very big factor to just get completely wrong. That plus the panic bubble nullifying Frieza's speed advantage should have been a very big problem too, and there's no arguing against the fact that Megatron is the smarter fighter and better tactician.
That and, I think it was a factor that they had an idea of how they could end the fight in a way where both parties had a satisfying conclusion - Frieza "wins" the fight but really he loses in every other conceivable way. If Megatron were the winner, it would be hard to give Frieza a similarly satisfying conclusion.
But if you actually look up how cracked IDW Megatron is... yeah, he should have won. I was shocked to learn how crazy strong he actually was when I researched him, and I can promise you death battle massively downplayed him.
It's really not that obvious once you read the comics. IDW is like Archie Sonic where it just makes them OP for no reason and was written by insane people.

Because of this, Megatron evacuated Cybertron in the event that he died and Cybertron was destroyed and stayed behind to fight Frieza.

Sorry, but a character like Frieza is OP is the “Transformers” universe - there’s no way he was going to walk away alive. Nonetheless, Negatron did manage to leave him crippled and stranded in space: this pretty much guarantees that Frieza’s victory is a hollow one…

Megatron is not most sentient beings. He faces the Death Ball head-on and laughs maniacally as if to say, "Challenge accepted.", confident he can repel the attack and save his world. And Megatron just might have succeeded, had Frieza not pulled Cybertron itself up behind him.

When Frieza vs Megatron first came out, I went in thinking that Megatron had a good chance of winning considering they were using IDW Megatron iirc (Who I heard was really strong) so I was surprised when they said he isn’t even stronger than RoF Frieza. I think both Frieza and Megatron are cool and loved the Death Battle anyway. Definitely in my Top 5 favorite 🔥

The annoying thing is how megatron isnt slow, he was literally fighting a 3v1 in the ergosphere of a black hole, which makes him literally faster then light.

@@EvilSuperFella200 Something to note: Not a single Cybertronian other than Megatron is seen, and the ones that are left on Cybertron are all warriors of the highest caliber that have been fighting nearly as long as Optimus Prime and Megatron. Which begs the question, "Where are they?" and the answer is "Not on Cybertron". So just Megatron put Frieza in that state at the end, and in terms of power, there are far stronger Cybertronians (like Shockwave) than Megatron. Meanwhile, Frieza's soldiers he brings with him to threaten Cybertron are wiped out at the start, and he has no means of communication without his ship.
Megatron said it himself: "Behold the mighty Lord Frieza, ruler of a dying planet- MY PLANET! Where is your army? Where is your ship? So powerful yet you will wander the depths of space for eternity ALL BECAUSE OF ME! What a fool". The crazy part is, he was right. Frieza expended resources making an enemy of a race that has members that live for eons and never forget a grudge, whilst making a martyr of one member of that race who had already outsmarted him by evacuating the planet Frieza had come to claim. Megatron won the war before it even began. The only things he lost were the battle and his life.
