Very informative. I have been here for last 14 yrs as a physician. I think youngsters should try to venture out when they can. It is not easy to live in the US at the same time it is not impossible. It is a huge country with good infrastructure. Agree healthcare us expensive but you need to understand why?? Lot of conditions are better managed and more efficiently due to the availability of resources. For eg heart attacks will not be missed as there are protocols for it. So people are likely to live longer and thereby spend more on healthcare. For all youngsters in India if you want to attempt.. Do it early in life like in the 20s.you will definitely succeed. Don't forget home after you come here. Please help people back there. Take care of your family. Respect our culture. Great opportunities which are currently not available in India may be available here But will be at a cost eg staying away from your family, battling weather conditions. It is definitely not a country for older people to settle after 65!!as mentioned about healthcare is expensive and is only getting worse. Even though I am a part of it cannot help changing it.

After selling our Coimbatore house, we have put the money in bank deposits in India. The interest we collect once a year when we visit our country. We convert some rupees into US dollars and bring $ 4000 here. For the next India trip we buy our flight tickets with our dollars.We can bring up to 10000 dollars per passenger, but India govt rules say you cannot take as cash more than 3000 dollars per head. We also get our annual blood/urine test at Microbiological Lab in Coimbatore where we pay about Rs 3000 per head. In US the lab will charge $ 450 per head for the same tests. Today the rate is Rs 74 for a dollar.
