This video was very difficult to make. Not only do the puppet animations take forever, and there's a lot more of them in this video compare to any other video I worked on. But it was also difficult to get a good balance of Funny Moments, complaining, as well as us giving proper criticism and praise for Sonic Colors. My full opinions of this game will never change, and I know a lot of people will probably hate on me for this video. I just want to say though, that if you like Sonic Colors, that's awesome. and I'm so happy that you were able to find enjoyment with it! I do hope that any of you major Sonic Colors fans, will still find something to like about this video.

I’ve never played sonic colors and I probably never will but watching you play it and not just telling us the game is bad but actually WHY it’s bad and acknowledging what the game did right is really awesome to see! It was fun being able to voice one of the angry comments in the video too so thanks for that!

I did find Sonic Colors really fun back in the day, especially after unlocking Super and glitching it out like crazy...but it definitely was a quality drop. I really miss Jason's Sonic, but I feel like Roger definitely has the ability to be a good Sonic. They just need to write him like they used to. Cocky yes, but still serious enough to make it shown that Sonic does know the danger he's in while fighting ancient beasts from the earth's core or a genie planning to enter and destroy the real world.
I know that I’ve already said it before, but this video definitely has a ton of very clever edits in it! I’m glad that it’s finally out, and I hope you’re happy that it’s done as well Callie!

I feel so vindicated seeing this video. I will never understand why people complained about forces bad 2d level design when nobody complained about colors for doing the exact same thing first. They tried designing sonic as if it were a mario platformer without taking his speed or moveset into account. why are they cramming sonic into these tight corridors with precision platforming? where are the ramps?
That was EPIC! The paceing, the ending, and all the arguments were on point!!! This game still holds a special place in my heart, but i can take a step back and really look at it with a new persepctive. Thank you Callie~!

There's actually a video out there showing the original level plans for Colors. Originally each zone was just two main acts with the good levels being the only ones. REALLY wish they stuck to that instead of what they did for the final game...

I'm with Callie on this one in Colors being actually one of the worst games leading into the new dark age of Sonic this I hope the Sonic 2022 can get it out of and bring back the good writing for the characters and have someone other than Sonic actually doing something in the story and even as a separate playable character, but knowing SEGA that isn't happening because they fail to understand why we like the characters and older games because they are actually written as people and not just plot devices that look like the characters we all fell in love with
Glad youtube recommended me this one. A joy to watch from start to finish. Great job! Also I pretty much share the same opinion about sonic colors. My disappointment was huge when I got this game as a kid and expected 3d levels like SA2 and Unleashed and it went 2D. (I actually stopped playing and finished it 6 years later)
I'll be honest when I say the only reason I "love" Sonic Colours is more than likely entirely because of nostalgia. My cousin had it when I was younger, and I was able to play through it once or twice, and as a kid with limited Sonic experience I loved it, and have been riding off of those memories since when thinking about this game. And honestly this video made me realize just how little of the game I actually remember. Nostalgia is very powerful.
If your not sure about how good it really is, replay it again. Don't let someone on the internet tell you what to think and assume it's just nostalgia, play it for yourself and form your own opinion.
Honestly it's not necessarily even nostalgia. The game genuinely is a very fun game that a lot of people enjoy, and even replaying the game I personally enjoy it. but uh yeah writing bad
@@bluerious5475 Yeah, the writing really can't be defended. However, the writing isn't the only part of the game. Music is one. And most of the level design is great. Of course, the rest of the level design is....yeah, no. Not so great. But hey, at the same time, all of Sonic Colors' flaws are still less than the flaws of Spinball, Boom, and Lost World.

Not like Sonic Boom or Sonic Forces or Sonic Shuffle. Then again, I'm not calling those 3 games 0/10. They do have some good things about them(Sonic Forces's OC creation and Shadow being a bit more like how he was in the Dreamcast era, Sonic Shuffle's visual style and only being bad due to poor game design choices, Sonic Boom's TV show-) But their flaws overwhelm the good things.

Honestly, I feel like your crticisms of the game are very valid. I personally feel like the game's level design and gameplay is very fun, but I absolutely do agree about your criticisms in terms of the writing. I also would like to mention that I feel like the wisps were really only utilized at their best in this game, and every game after that was essentially like "Oh, people like wisps? We have wisps!" and didn't really know how to incorporate them in levels, with the only real color power I don't think had a good place in the game being cube. But yeah, Colors in my opinion was a good game, but Colors also had a pretty negative effect on games that happened afterward, and I don't think that's something that should necessarily be ignored. I am really hoping the 2022 sonic game will take notes from the criticisms that have been made throughout these years.

Ok so I love sonic colours, I enjoyed the gameplay and the wisps, and I loved how the game looked and beautiful the music is. The things people complain about don’t bother me at all. I’m really excited for the remake with its better graphics remixed music, custom wearables, metal sonic race mode, jade ghost and all. But I can see why people don’t like it, also the fact it was the first sonic game I ever played, makes this a really nostalgia one for me. Anyways loved this video, got some good laughs, and you definitely worked hard on this video, even if there was a lot of complaints about one of my favourite sonic games. I subscribe 👍
I do stand on one side that Colours was the beginning of trying to fix Sonic and it at least went back to the few characters to try fill it. But i do respect the opinion of others and I respect yours Callie for this game and I do agree with most of the complaints. Hearing all of this criticism makes me realize I only like this game so much because it looks pretty and sounds pretty. And the act one stages are nice too.
People fawn over this game's level design because the acts beyond Act 1 were so forgettable that they actually forgot what they were like, and only remember Act 1 (or at least, that's what it looks like to me).
@@syweb2 I think each area except Terminal Velocity has at least 3 good acts, and I'm not a big fan of Sweet Mountain or Planet Wisp Act 1. "Act 1 good, everything else bad" is the polar opposite of being objective

There's actually a video out there showing the original level plans for Colors. Originally each zone was just two main acts with the good levels being the only ones. REALLY wish they stuck to that instead of what they did for the final game...

I'm with Callie on this one in Colors being actually one of the worst games leading into the new dark age of Sonic this I hope the Sonic 2022 can get it out of and bring back the good writing for the characters and have someone other than Sonic actually doing something in the story and even as a separate playable character, but knowing SEGA that isn't happening because they fail to understand why we like the characters and older games because they are actually written as people and not just plot devices that look like the characters we all fell in love with

Also I pretty much share the same opinion about sonic colors. My disappointment was huge when I got this game as a kid and expected 3d levels like SA2 and Unleashed and it went 2D. (I actually stopped playing and finished it 6 years later)

I'll be honest when I say the only reason I "love" Sonic Colours is more than likely entirely because of nostalgia. My cousin had it when I was younger, and I was able to play through it once or twice, and as a kid with limited Sonic experience I loved it, and have been riding off of those memories since when thinking about this game.
And honestly this video made me realize just how little of the game I actually remember.
Nostalgia is very powerful.
If your not sure about how good it really is, replay it again. Don't let someone on the internet tell you what to think and assume it's just nostalgia, play it for yourself and form your own opinion.
Honestly it's not necessarily even nostalgia. The game genuinely is a very fun game that a lot of people enjoy, and even replaying the game I personally enjoy it.

@@bluerious5475 Yeah, the writing really can't be defended. However, the writing isn't the only part of the game. Music is one. And most of the level design is great. Of course, the rest of the level design is....yeah, no. Not so great. But hey, at the same time, all of Sonic Colors' flaws are still less than the flaws of Spinball, Boom, and Lost World.

@@bluerious5475 Yeah, I agree. However, that does not make it a bad game. It's far from a bad game. It's like Team Sonic Racing. A decent, if a bit mediocre, game. Not like Sonic Boom or Sonic Forces or Sonic Shuffle. Then again, I'm not calling those 3 games 0/10. They do have some good things about them(Sonic Forces's OC creation and Shadow being a bit more like how he was in the Dreamcast era, Sonic Shuffle's visual style and only being bad due to poor game design choices, Sonic Boom's TV show-) But their flaws overwhelm the good things.

Honestly, I feel like your crticisms of the game are very valid. I personally feel like the game's level design and gameplay is very fun, but I absolutely do agree about your criticisms in terms of the writing. I also would like to mention that I feel like the wisps were really only utilized at their best in this game, and every game after that was essentially like "Oh, people like wisps? We have wisps!" and didn't really know how to incorporate them in levels, with the only real color power I don't think had a good place in the game being cube. But yeah, Colors in my opinion was a good game, but Colors also had a pretty negative effect on games that happened afterward, and I don't think that's something that should necessarily be ignored. I am really hoping the 2022 sonic game will take notes from the criticisms that have been made throughout these years.
I might just have had a stroke of Nostalgia seeing Callie Hedgie's old design in the outro that kinda made me happy, dont get me wrong i adore the new design but the old one is nostalgic

Ok so I love sonic colours, I enjoyed the gameplay and the wisps, and I loved how the game looked and beautiful the music is. The things people complain about don’t bother me at all. I’m really excited for the remake with its better graphics remixed music, custom wearables, metal sonic race mode, jade ghost and all. But I can see why people don’t like it, also the fact it was the first sonic game I ever played, makes this a really nostalgia one for me. Anyways loved this video, got some good laughs, and you definitely worked hard on this video, even if there was a lot of complaints about one of my favourite sonic games. I subscribe 👍
I do stand on one side that Colours was the beginning of trying to fix Sonic and it at least went back to the few characters to try fill it. But i do respect the opinion of others and I respect yours Callie for this game and I do agree with most of the complaints. Just my view but i do understand yours in this context :)

Hearing all of this criticism makes me realize I only like this game so much because it looks pretty and sounds pretty. And the act one stages are nice too.
People fawn over this game's level design because the acts beyond Act 1 were so forgettable that they actually forgot what they were like, and only remember Act 1 (or at least, that's what it looks like to me).
@@syweb2 I think each area except Terminal Velocity has at least 3 good acts, and I'm not a big fan of Sweet Mountain or Planet Wisp Act 1.
