Thank you so much, Craig, for sharing your knowledge for the future generations!! Like I've heard you say, some don't like to share their skills and knowledge. I appreciate you for all your hard work to share this to the world. You are my favourite teacher on TH-cam! The way you explain and show things makes it super easy to understand ❤

Hey Craig, loved visiting last November and spending 4 days with you and your family. I bought you check rains to check my new 9 year old but it also came with another longer rope, not sure what that is for. Hope to bring Apache down soon and spending more time with you guys and becoming even a better horseman.

Question - You started with just the halter and before going to the bit you said to make sure your horse is soft and understands how to give to the bit before you tie them off. So does that mean you would teach that part from their back first and then go back later and check them with the bit? I normally do my first few rides on a colt in just the rope halter, no bit. Or I'll put the bit on and let him carry it, but no reins attached, still just using the rope halter to steer and stop. So when could I use this check with the bit? I was thinking I would like to do it before I ever rode with my reins on the bit, to let him figure out the bit on his own a little first without my hands on the reins. But it sounds like you're saying NOT to do that, but to teach him first with my hands. Can you please clarify when to first do this check with the bit?

Had to stop on this outdated tradition when it came to the bit and reins tied. Good way to cut a tongue in half or at the least damage the mouth.
