I know I'm like 2 years late to the party and you'll likely never read this comment, but I'm scouring TH-cam for reviews of these basses and I'm glad I found yours. I might have to buy one tomorrow. Let's Dance at the end was extremely well done!
I opted for the M5 variant in transparent blue and it checks all the boxes. Picked it up off of Thomann USA for $677 with shipping. Goes for $800+ in the states. Great review! Love the finish on the M7s.
superb, superb review of a very versatile, not to be underestimated bass! I'm about to give it a try in 2-3 weeks when the newest batch of Sire instruments comes to my nearest dealer in my country. I am almost sold, yeah, but I have my principles - try before you buy. I believe this bass shall pass my test. Soon. Thank you for the great video!
Thanks to your insightful review, I bought M7 4string last month. I am totally in love with this bass; It has virtually everything I need in terms of the tone; both pickup single tone for slap and pop, like jazz bass, neck pickup series for rock or motown sounds, like P bass, and many many more. Also it's easy to play thanks to the light weight and thin neck. Once again, thank you so much for your review, which convinced me to buy one, and you were absolutely right!
I bought a V7 2nd gen. It was set up poorly and the neck had a trussrod issue. I received a new neck under warranty which was fine. But as much as I read about Sire basses being perfect out of the box. That absolutely was not my experience.
Awesome! Makes me want to go out and buy a bass to have around! Have really been wanting one to have around for recording. Seriously love appreciate your quality and no BS reviews.
Best review ever! I’m really looking forward to get mine. At the moment I’m rocking a Trbx 605 from Yamaha... But I’m looking for other type of sound, Thanks a lot!
Really good review. I have the first generation V7 in alder and it’s incredible. I record and play live with it, recorded 3 tracks today. But I’m looking for a “modern” bass sound and the M7 seems to fit every need - including the jazz bass sound too. Thanks for posting. Looking forward to viewing your other videos!
Not at all. Although I haven't gigged with it so I can't comment on how road worthy it is. I have an arsenal of basses. A Roscoe, US Jazz Basses, vintage basses, custom basses...when I record bass, I grab this bass 9 times out of 10. It's comfortable and super versatile.
@@thelowaction9573 Thanks for the response. I ended up buying a passive Sire V5 natural finish (5 string) and I couldn't be more impressed by the quality.
I do! I love it! It’s not my main everyday bass it’s my go to bass for recording for sure. I’ve used it on a couple gigs. I loved the lightweight and it performed wonderfully.
@@thelowaction9573 thank you for your answer! It helps me a lot ! For me it would be my main everyday bass so I would like to be sure 😃 Do you think it can be an everyday bass? Just to be sure about the solidity 😄 My priority is 24 frettes, and the 4 strings bass is the better option for me, so this bass seems to be the best for this prize.
@@jacskonflow - Sure! If you take care of it, I don't see why it wouldn't last. If you're gigging and playing a lot, I would invest in a hardshell case or a really good bag (like a Mono) for protection. If it were my main bass, the only thing I would do is upgrade the tuners. Not that I've had problems with tuners, but it seems that they could be better haha. But that's a relatively inexpensive and easy upgrade. For the money, it's a fantastic bass.
@@thelowaction9573 Thank you so much for your help ! I will buy it next week ! Yeah I heard that inconvenience somewhere already about so I will check the tuners then the bass will come !
I bought a M7 from Thomman and am very disappointed. Fret ends are sharp and no effort was made to round them at all. I ordered a 6 string harley benton at the same time and it has better fret finishing. I will need to do a complete set up and fret dress, round and polish
Fret dress required on mine too, it could happen depending how much time went from production to sale and how it was stored for a long time. I believe if it's fresh, it could be ok out of the box, if it took time, wood is a living thing that can shrink a tiny bit and frets can get out a tiny bit for edges to become sharp.
Hi, i bought this bass and i love it, but I don't know if i have a issue with my knobs. If i try to rotate the knobs with ring (Mid EQ/Mid Boost or Main Tone/Main Volume) they moves together. Then i need to use two hands to regulate individually. Is this a common issue?
It's a common issue with stacked knobs. There is a small set screw on the bottom rings. If you loosen, remove the knobs, and check that the pot shaft isn't bent. If it's bent, you may have to replace the pot. If not, you can usually reset the knobs and loosen them up a bit. That should solve the problem.
TheLowAction Thanks, i have loosed the knob a little bit and works flawlessly. I think that i will change the knobs with a better set. Have you some advice which knobs-set to buy that will be perfect for this bass?
@@Manu9780 - I'm glad it worked for you! I don't have any suggestions. Whatever knobs you think would look best with your bass. Just so you're aware. The bottom shaft is 8mm and the upper shaft is 6mm. The lower knob is designed for a set screw. The upper knob is a press-on type. There are stacked sets available that fit these. I saw a person on Reddit that used basic black aluminum knobs and it looked beautiful.
The passive demo sounded great. But dude! You explained the preamp and didn't demo it?! Even briefly? What a major letdown after an otherwise great review
We need more reviews like this. Gear demos have their place, but there is something to be said for just hearing what a man has to say.

Just got mmy M5, swamp ash body in transparent blue/turquoise. Absolutely amazing. No issues with it at all.

Indonesia
