I'm so greatful that there's still kids out there that aren't hooked on video games and just doing the things that kids should be doing so there is hope for America
Impressive young man just had surgery a couple days ago and now he's out working in the yard... hats off to you little buddy we need more young men in this world like you...
Take the belts off so the engine isn't struggling to turn over. Use some mystery oil in the cylinders to help the piston rings to help build compression. Use two cycle gas and oil mixture to pour in the carberater also check the spark plug wires for cracks which could cause voltage drop. Jack im extremely looking forward to seeing you get this car running and I would like to see you working on your lawnmowers. And remember there is no such thing as mistakes for mistakes are just a learning tool. Have Fun.
2010 there's annual neighborhood yardsale Haggin Oaks..... it's like Bakersfield version of Beverly Hills area..... my son 10 at the time was handling the pre trip checklist for my wifes 68 VW ..... checking oil ,air, we had a short list ... it's an old HIGHLY modified VW ...anyway a gentleman of my father's age is shaking my hand ,patting me on the back... sharing general praise to see automotive knowledge passed on. Now at the time I honestly thought "ah dudes sweet but c'mon people still be teaching they kids right?...." Now 14-15 years later only now does the weight of his praise feel heavy..
Every time I see this boy try to figure out a problem to get a car started or working on something that he's learning it always makes me smile to watch him. There needs to be more dads like this in the world seriously. I love the content and keep it up for sure.
see this i can respect props to him as well as all the dads out there that are teaching there sons and daughters how to fix a car and how to value one instead of giving your kid a iphone hand them a classic car and a tool box cause when they get done they will have there first car and know how to fix it
Naah an idiot can see that he reading from a script, not impressed at all, the kids on little house and Walton's did a better job , but kid take some acting lessons, yhxs
Jack, You have a diamond in the rough, don't give up on it. And DON"T FORGET, you have A LOT OF SUPPORTERS out here on your side. KEEP US IN THE LOOP, you never know who will reach out and help you. Stay safe, healthy and more important have fun. We're rooting for ya.
Jack I’m a 55 year old oilfield worker. By dang youngster I enjoy the heck out of watching you wrench on projects!! Your Dad is a fantastic teacher. Listen continue to learn and keep making videos bud. I’m hooked 😂👍 can’t wait to see what’s next!! Lots of great, helpful advise in the comments!! A buddy of mine way back in high school had an1969 AMC Javelin 3 on the tree😁 Enjoy bud!!!
I love to see young people getting involved in things other than video games. Keep at it Jack. You've got a pretty cool dad to help you out along the way. Not to mention what a prize piece when you get it done. 👍
Much respect to you Jack. I wish you all the best. This reminds me when I was a teenager working at my uncle's wrecking yard in Houston. He gave me a 65 Impala SS with a 396 in it. I would give anything if I still had that car
Wow, Jack you are really smart. I take it you learned from your Dad. Way to go young man,way to go.Can't wait to see you grow up. To see what you do.Thank you.
Jack reminds me of my nephew when he was young. He could do about anything he put his mind to. He's a welder by trade but he fell from a deer stand and layed there for three days before they got him out. He was paralyzed for awhile and has miles to go but I trust one day he'll be back working on his 67 Ford pickup. Don't let anybody discourage you Jack not even stupid youtube you are going to go far my friend. God bless!
You're on the right track. Pull the plugs and oil the cylinders. It may help to remove the belts just for the first start and run. Check for spark at a plug or two. If you have it, put a little gas in the carb, open the choke, and try it again. I got all the faith in the world that you will figure it out. Great job so far.
It's awesome to see young people like me working on classic cars, this reminds me about half a year ago when I was outside for hours trying to get my big block 73 charger running
Thank you so much! Seeing you reminded me of my younger brother. Brought tears to my eyes. He was born with cleft lip and pallet. I had never seen or heard of it until he was born. Seeing a young baby go through suffering and pain with surgery after surgery was devastating to watch especially as the oldest sibling. I felt helpless but he has made it through them all and is a total champion. You remind me of him and are truly a special young man. Thank you for your videos. Keep up this hard work. And I wish you well on your recovery and any future surgeries you may have along the way. Don’t lose that work ethic. Don’t lose that genuineness. And most importantly don’t lose that smile. Your videos mean a lot to a lot of people. Thank you and to your parents for sharing you with everyone here on TH-cam.
I have only recently come across your channel and I am never disappointed! I am big on the family unit and being there for our kids. Kent you are a great dad and it shows! I love how you let him do it and provide that problem solving for him as a lesson. I am a true believer in positive reinforcement and teaching valuable life lessons is way more effective than the alternatives. God bless you guys and Jack I am completely impressed with your already large array of skills. Keep up the good work!
Kent, you've got to be so very proud of Jack ! He's a "chip off the old Dad" ! Please Stay Safe, Guys I hate to see you hurting, Jack ! May God Bless !
Jack. You are awesome. Watching your videos really brings back some memories. I really miss my dad. You are both great. Thank you for your content. You amaze me Thank you so much for your videos.❤🎉😊
Kent, you are an amazing parent to your children , and Jack is a good candidate for the jobs he is assigned to. I remember myself when young I didn't have a father figure around, but my friends were there to help and assist me, and because of that, I see Jack in me learning without and obstacles in the way. Keep it up buddy your son Jack is going places in the near future. 👍
What a great car for your first car, Jack! I agree with your Dad: pull/clean the spark plugs, soak the cylinders (PB blaster or Mystery oil), check spark plug wires for corrosion or mouse damage, and MAKE SURE they go to the correct plug. Make sure the points are free to move (open and close) and the contacts are not fouled. Check for cracks in the distributor cap. Also, clean the grounding point where the battery grounds to the motor, and clean the contact point where the HOT starter wire from the battery connects to the starter. Compression test too! WHEW! THAT'S a lot of work. Good luck, and keep the camera rolling despite knowing the project will take much more time. It's great YT content! Guys LOVE lawnmowers... esp fast ones... we'd love to see that too! Good luck with all your projects, Jack! We love your videos!!!
I’ve seen quite a few of these videos . They are great! I think we are witnessing the making of a master mechanic which I think is awesome!!!!Great family great video !!!
This kid is awesome. As a kid i knew about as much as cars, as a newborn knows about general relatively. This kid has taught me just about all i know! He deservesmto be on the news.
Whats amazing about this video is this young man is learning about auto mechsnics .instead of wasting his time on video games .like alot of kids do today .also great thst at his age hes got some knowledge about what to try n do get this car running ..his parents are teaching .,& helping this young man learn a real trade in life .wow were gonna see a future auto mechanic and hopefully one day he'll be very successful & do great for himself
Hello Jack don't give up on those riding mowers they are cool to work on I did it for a bit and I had fun doing so your doing an awesome job God Bless you and your family
Hey Jack , I had that same make and model. It was dark green. Once I got my license I drove it everywhere . Brings back some good memories. Thanks for making me smile 😊 you remind me of my brother he worked side by side with my dad in his salvage yard. you’re going to be a great mechanic Jack. My brother now runs the business but still loves working on and restoring cars.
Hey Jack! You will be a legend! You remind me of my brothers. They were older than you when they started tinkering with old cars. Then, there was nothing they could not fix. One brother made a Rat Rod out of an OLD truck. He couldn't find a big round thing, like the one you took off. But he somehow used an OLD washing machine part that worked. He gets around 6 mpg, maybe 10 going down hill. I think he said it will top out at 45 mph! lol You are getting a lifetime lesson doing what you love!
This remarkable boy is so in no small part to the fact that he has an attentive father and lots of shoulder-to-shoulder work to do with him. He's going to be a great man!
I like this young man! He is a problem solver and a positive guy. I could learn from him. This is a great education for a young man. I think this young man is a reflection of a good father.
I agree with removing the belts. That was gonna be my suggestion, but someone beat me to it. I am way late on finding your channel. I just found it this morning. Jack, I am very impressed with your maturity, skills and demeanor. Your dad is raising and training a great young man with an awesome future. Let's see aome of that Lawnmower build. I wish my boy, who is 15, had the same interests in cars.
wow what a great present, you look like a bright young man, going places loves his dad cars and most of all, with the wealth of knowledge you will out do us older people making keeping cars alive for more years they were even around and more, good luck
Came over from Arms Family Farms n this is the first video I watch n already know I will be subscribing to your videos Jack you are an awesome kind Kent great parenting Good luck Jack on getting it running n to be the new proud owner of this vehicle ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow Jack I've been for over 45 years you are doing great sir. Would love to see some videos on the racing lawn. for your age you are mechanically blessed..
Grow Jack Tip of the day- " when "new" is not handy... newer will work". This is my kind of guy. Plus he handles his channel like a pro. I'm retired radio and radio is pretty much a thing of the past, that said, I'd hire this young man and give him only one instruction- Don't change, keep truck in'...🤙🏼
Jack, check the ground connection on the engine block, corrosion there will also cause problems with the starter going slow. You may have a starter with worn bushings causing it to drag. I like your work! Show us something on the racing lawn mower project too. When you are feeding gas directly into the carb, you can fill the bowl through the vent, and if it starts, it will run until it uses all the fuel in the bowl.
I liked and subbed. When you get older please stay humble and don't think anybody can do this attitude. You got Love and Support and that is 99% of everything. Well done little Man. I'm impressed cause I'm a Forty year old man intimidated by the motor engine. I never had the tools, trust in mechanics or a mentor.
HI JACK YOUR A GREAT KID ,, I DID THE SAME THING WHEN I WAS A KID IN THE 60S AND MY SON MAX LOVES CARS ALSO .. WE BUY AND SELL CARS AS FUN AND VISIT JUNK YARDS...WE HEAR YOU WELL WE HAD A 6CYL. COMET CON.,, WE HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!!!!! WE LOVE THE TRAIN SOUND ,, GREAT TO GET DADS HELP...HAVE FUN ON THE MOWER ,,BUT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE 64 COMET RUN ,,THAT WOULD BE A GREAT RIDE !!! FUN.. MAX AND I SAY ,,THANKS...........
Jack, I''m so impressed with you. Your knowledge is far greater than your years. My dad bought me a 1960 Monterey Mercury for $250 at an auto auction. It was about the size of Noah's ark. I wanted a navy blue Mercury Cougar with a white top...but, no...I got the old Monterey. Drove it onto my college campus, and it stood out like a sore thumb. But it got me where I wanted to go, until the steering wheel fell off in my lap. Never did get a navy blue Mercury Cougar with a white top. I'd sure like to have that old Monterey now! They've really increased in value.
My very first car was a 1966 Mercury Comet, 4 door, blue. LOVED that car! I was a junior in high school and had a blast with my friends in it. I bought it for $300. Wish I could get another one. Keep going and you'll get it going! Love this so much!
I am excited for you Jack. I've watched you before and somehow lost track of you. Daniel Arms mentioned the channel and I'm interested to watch. I don't know anything about cars or lawnmowers. It's just going to be entertainment for a grandmother like me. I'm sure you'll be super excited when you start seeing more progress and looks like your family is cheering you on too. I'm happy to be in it on the ground floor to watch the progression. Best of success to you. Blessings and love and prayers and best regards from beautiful Wisconsin.
Hello little Jack ,I wake up have coffee ☕️ and start looking for you ,I grew up just like that but no help from anyone ,your awsome Jack ,soon you'll have your own car collection 🎉 😊
Jack i really emjoy watching you work.on these cars at your age. Your very mechanicaly inclined! Coming from a mechanic whose father had a garage and i started out young. Im really impressed with your knowledge. Keep at it my friend. Much respect and love for you.❤
Yeah hi, I am a follower of Arms Family Homestead - with Daniel & DeJay & he told us the story of what happened yesterday & I thought for you that you deserve my vote so I am now subscribed to to & also a follower . When I see you on here I will automatically click on here & at least give you a thumbs up. Sorry about you being kicked off of TikTak
I saw on Arms Family Homestead what Facebook did to you, and it is appalling. I don't why social media seems to be run by A-holes, but it certainly seems like they have more than their share of A-holes in positions of power. Don't let them win. Jack, keep on putting out good content like this, and you will most certainly win. I am impressed when a young man like you puts himself out there the way you have.
Great job Jack.Good to see you doing what your dad does best. You've got the right ideas just keep trying and you'll succeed on getting that Merc going.I would love to follow you getting that lawnmower going AND maybe race it or at least show us what it'll do.I hope your surgery was successful this time, and in the future.Keep on keepin on.
I'll tell you what a great dad. You are that you're involving your son just like my father did with me.. They don't do that today it's sitting behind a video game.. Good for you god bless you guys keep up the good work great job
Your going awesome job. Just listen to all advice and go with it. Your dad is has great advice to listen to also so you can't go wrong. Can't wait to see it driving❗️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏😉🐾
We want to see that lawnmower project for sure! Super cool. As for the will it run… you said you were gonna put the distributor cap back on but didn’t show it. Did you forget to clip it in place? Checking the plugs to see if any are fouled is a good next step. Lube in each cylinder to soak will help with compression too. Also add a little 2-cycle oil to the fuel you dump down its throat to help lubricate the top end too. You got this Jack! I think you’re so close to hearing it bust off and make some noise! Ooohhhh also remove the fuel pump inlet to the carb. You don’t want to suck that crappy fuel in there it will make this project much harder!
Thanks Troy! He did forget to unhook the fuel line before cranking but fortunately I think it was completely dry. I do believe the cap was clipped on. I will pass your good advice on to Jack!
You go, Jack you are so powerful. Just think what you’re gonna do and you can commit. you are so powerful. I know how much I can say how powerful you are. I subscribe your channel. I had it yet. I’m sorry though but I am now.
I'm so greatful that there's still kids out there that aren't hooked on video games and just doing the things that kids should be doing so there is hope for America

Keep in mind has the car gets newer electronics starts to take over. Pretty soon you'll have to be an electrical engineer if you want to work on cars.
I love your video's
It's gonna work
As a Dad, I feel like I can speak for all Dads... You Win, best Dad ever!
I'm 51 and I wish he'd adopt me... this boy is learning so much with so much love. yes, best dad!
LOL
2010 there's annual neighborhood yardsale Haggin Oaks..... it's like Bakersfield version of Beverly Hills area..... my son 10 at the time was handling the pre trip checklist for my wifes 68 VW ..... checking oil ,air, we had a short list ... it's an old HIGHLY modified VW ...anyway a gentleman of my father's age is shaking my hand ,patting me on the back... sharing general praise to see automotive knowledge passed on. see this i can respect props to him as well as all the dads out there that are teaching there sons and daughters how to fix a car and how to value one instead of giving your kid a iphone hand them a classic car and a tool box cause when they get done they will have there first car and know how to fix it

Definitely agree older vehicles are easier to work on 👍✌️
Jack has a great teacher. Have no doubts he will get the comet running. Kepp trying Jack. Don't give up. Good to see you Jack..Kent..and AJ. Take care

Check everything inside the side whatever you think will make a fire smile
I love to see young people getting involved in things other than video games. Keep at it Jack. You've got a pretty cool dad to help you out along the way. Not to mention what a prize piece when you get it done. 👍
Also learning skill and work ethics can go along way for young people in a lot of other ways in life.

Sorry to hear about your nephew. Godspeed on his recovery
Great advice! Thank you
Thanks for sharing, fun to watch you try to start this car
It's awesome to see young people like me working on classic cars, this reminds me about half a year ago when I was outside for hours trying to get my big block 73 charger running

What an AWESOME young man. He is great in front of the camera and he looks like a professional mechanic
Much respect and love for you.❤
Jack you're a great young man, you sound fine. You have so much knowledge, beyond your years.

My two favorite new shows you go Jack and Jacks dad 🤙🇺🇸 this is bout as American as you can get mom and little brother are great too ❤
I saw on Arms Family Homestead what Facebook did to you, and it is appalling. I don't why social media seems to be run by A-holes, but it certainly seems like they have more than their share of A-holes in positions of power. Don't let them win. Jack, keep on putting out good content like this, and you will most certainly win. I am impressed when a young man like you puts himself out there the way you have.
Jack, these are Great little cars! Stylish, fun to drive, good gas mileage and fun to work on, too! It's a keeper for sure!
Keep up the working ethic and you will be the best mechanic on the farm. Listen to your dad and you will go along way in life.

Keep up the good work brother you're doing good I'm proud of you keep up the good work have a very blessed day and be safe 🙏🙏
