Apparently obsidian knives can be so sharp they actually separate on the cellular level while cutting, thats why it was often used for surgery, faster healing.
Ingredients 2 cups all-purpose flour 3 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt ¾ cup white sugar 1 large egg 1 cup milk ¼ cup vegetable oil Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line cups with paper liners. Stir flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together in a large bowl; make a well in the center. Beat egg with a fork in a small bowl or 2-cup measuring cup; whisk in milk and oil. Pour egg mixture all at once into flour mixture; mix quickly and lightly with a fork until just moistened. The batter will be lumpy. Spoon batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each 3/4 full. Bake in the preheated oven until tops spring back when lightly pressed, about 25 minutes. Now you have muffins!

Its about how you hold it if you mean the bigger shard he uses to cut with, and obsidian isnt that much different than handling broken glass, and how many of us have done that cleaning up or something without gloves?

I have a piece permanently lodged in the side of my hand from flint knapping. Occasionally it causes the muscles to seize, or migrates a little and hits a nerve. It sucks.
Obsidian is literally one of the sharpest things in the worlds and the guy just grinded his fingers across the shards and dust without a second though.
Technically it isn't sharper then lead or cotton... ok that's a bit disingenuous but what i mean is a material isn't fundamentally sharp or not. It's how its arranged, the geometry, along with its physical properties (hardness toughness etc) that make something sharp. You know this on a basic level. Thats why you can get cut by fucking paper lol, and have the best steel or obsidian in the world and do whatever you want with it without any danger. He can initially play with it cause it's a ball, not sharp. But obsidian does have very blade(ish) properties, it's naturally exellent at forming sharp fragments that keep their sharpness and resist deformation, because it's extremely brittle brittle, like a window. Not that doesn't mean it's not hard, of even tough to an extent, on the contrary it's extra hard, so much that it will take (relatively) huge amounts of force without breaking or bending. Brittle here is used in the scientific way, as a material that will not experiance any (or very little) deformation or damage before breaking. Basically it takes it until it shatters. Brittle materials are often pretty good at 'naturally' forming blades when broken, they can still be xtra hard and tough (like bulletproof glass) but unless you go out of your way to make a glqss that won't, your window will probably shatter into very sharp fragments. Don't know why exactly probably something due to the lines of stress traveling efficiently though the material or something like that
But i m nitpicking a bit i get what you said and you're right, obsidian blades are some of the sharpest in the world, and it's partially due to obsidian itself. You could make a blade as sharp out of basically anything (ok maybe not coton but any solid metal for sure) but the second it makes contact you will need properties -obsidian has- that prevent it from shattering -glass will shatter if you look at it wrong so a glass blade isn't very useful, lead is malleable like gold its mush as far as metals are concerned so will deform instead of cutting- or bending
@@SayGahTaah I think it was the Japanese that would take obsidian and glass fragments along with sand and put them in eggs or similar hollowed spherical constructs and use them as a weapon that would explode with the dust and fragments when thrown or slung.
But the small splinters are easy to remove if you know how. The same way you remove glass fiber splinters. Soak hands in soapy water for 20 min and then just wipe them

Technically it isn't sharper then lead or cotton... ok that's a bit disingenuous but what i mean is a material isn't fundamentally sharp or not. It's how its arranged, the geometry, along with its physical properties (hardness toughness etc) that make something sharp.
You know this on a basic level. Thats why you can get cut by fucking paper lol, and have the best steel or obsidian in the world and do whatever you want with it without any danger.
He can initially play with it cause it's a ball, not sharp.
But obsidian does have very blade(ish) properties, it's naturally exellent at forming sharp fragments that keep their sharpness and resist deformation, because it's extremely brittle brittle, like a window.
Not that doesn't mean it's not hard, of even tough to an extent, on the contrary it's extra hard, so much that it will take (relatively) huge amounts of force without breaking or bending. Brittle here is used in the scientific way, as a material that will not experiance any (or very little) deformation or damage before breaking. Basically it takes it until it shatters.
Brittle materials are often pretty good at 'naturally' forming blades when broken, they can still be xtra hard and tough (like bulletproof glass) but unless you go out of your way to make a glqss that won't, your window will probably shatter into very sharp fragments. Don't know why exactly probably something due to the lines of stress traveling efficiently though the material or something like that
But i m nitpicking a bit i get what you said and you're right, obsidian blades are some of the sharpest in the world, and it's partially due to obsidian itself. You could make a blade as sharp out of basically anything (ok maybe not coton but any solid metal for sure) but the second it makes contact you will need properties -obsidian has- that prevent it from shattering -glass will shatter if you look at it wrong so a glass blade isn't very useful, lead is malleable like gold its mush as far as metals are concerned so will deform instead of cutting- or bending
