but never useless. There's always some super impossibly rare application but really, it's the process that's invaluable. She's made a subject women just avoid, really approachable. As a guy she even convinces me I could do this or that project, which of course I can't but one day I will build the Teddy from the movie AI.
here's a tip: If you leave the truck in the sun with all windows closed, it will actually get pretty hot in there. You can have a sauna, never mind a bath,
Regardless, I'm banking Simone is somewhat uncomfortable putting her body on display. Compared to other 'geek girls' (Kari Byron, for example), Simone is far less sexualized in general. Regardless of heat, I think the wetsuit would have been a thing.
Compared to the vast majority of sponsored crap on TH-cam, this is actually pretty good and watchable. I could care less about the Ridgeline, but props to Honda for doing this none the less.
I like the trunk space under the bed in the ridgeline as a solution for trunk storage. Looking at the model on the ad, I just wonder how it affects ground clearance compared to a typical truck.
soft drink Come on. I'm the last not to acknowledge that her not having a penis is a refreshing change and does make a difference. But implying that she is some kind of bimbo who got there only because she is female... If you don't see a problem with that, then yea fuck off. Nothing to say to you. If me cursing at you does not completely piss you off, I invite you to think about it a little.
Nowhere was it implied that she is a bimbo. But she's not there because she's a great "maker", either. What she built (with a lot of help) is a lacquered wooden box. She's there because of her engaging personality, and *that* in turn works partly because she is a woman and the gender roles and stereotypes that come with that. I think if they had a guy that worked off of being a charming and quirky dork there wouldn't be as positive a feedback.
they built the tub to the size they'd need for Simone to fit in it, then hoped it would fit into the truck. Maybe plan B if it was too big might have been to try to do something in the truck bed and ditch the cold open.
2:29 I don't know why but this look hit me instantly. Simone is absolutely fixed on Adam and to me, this look conveyed so much reverence and she is literally looking up to him. Simone isn't just listening and absorbing every word, she is also studying his face completely; taking in all of the detail as he easily imparts all of this knowledge and experience. This moment, it hit me hard.
If you can deliver a product without being cringy about it then I'm ok with it, isn't it possible for them to get everything out of the way at the beginning or the end of the video like most youtubers do?
whuaaaaat people don't do their work for free? how outrageous! D: It's almost as if they had bills to pay like normal human beings, I can't believe that. next you're going to tell me they have to eat too and use the bathroom just like everyone else.
Looks like they are missing the statement about this being sponsored content. Just putting someones logo there isn't enough, also just saying that they got the cars to play with isn't enough.
Jakob Engell It is possible and it works just as well, if you look at youtubers who get all of the sponsored stuff out of the way in the beginning it's a lot more tolerable than being drawn out throughout the entire video, making it drawn out pretty much ruins the quality of the video.
I can't wait for her to be in more stuff on Tested. She's a gem. She's wonderful. This was such a fun video to watch and I love her unique take on creative problems.
Man, I'd love to have Adam teach me the ins and outs of fabrication. And the genuine excitement Simone brings to the video that bounces off Adam made even this silly project fun to watch.
Or a small 55 gal fish tank heater.. I would have added a small IBC tote (250 Gallons) and just pack a kiddy pool in the trunk (or cut the top off the IBC tote).. With a strong enough water Pump and nozzle and hose you could fill the pool up fast And why not register as a voluntary fire fighter while your at it.. You just made a party firetruck..
If you really wanted to heat the water, it'd be simple to make a heat exchanger, but I'm assuming they didn't want them to start making alterations to the engine.
I love how Norm is like : *This is the Ridgeback, it has a cool, nice, spacious cabin. It's so nice!* And then Simone's like: *Yeah, cool, how wide is it?*
I would like to thank the people at TESTED! I feel that they are listening to the community. On previous "episodes" of this Honda truck series there were major complaints that the video did not focus on the building and too much on installing things on a truck. I was very pleased that this episode showed a great deal of the planning, design and building of the tub. (Even if it was a box that holds water.) This is what I wanted for the previous episode with the tent...they briefly mentioned that he built a folding box to hold stuff and spent the entire episode showing a store bought tent being installed. All of this to say...Thank you TESTED! I am a fan for life. Thank you for listening and keeping your fan base in mind. You have definitely made me proud to be one of your loyal fans!
Simone has pretty eyes! Well, to be honest, she has pretty pretty-much-everything, but the point is she should wear safety goggles over them when using a table saw to keep them that way. But extra points for remembering rubber duck(s) for the tub. Uhh, how do you drain it?
Put a drainage on a side, add portable water heater, and it's ready for mass production. Bonus practical points for making it collapsible to fit in the back.
Watching Simone learn from Adam is really great! but Simone, watch out, soon you'll have so much skill that you can not build naively shitty robots anymore! Bathing in a wet suit can probably be classified as some kind of shitty experience, so its entirely in character ;) You could heat the bath by putting an old central heating gas boiler heat exchanger in a camp fire and hook up some hoses to it and letting the water flow through there. Trust me, I have done it with a trailer full of water ;)
One day Simone will unveil her new automotive assembly robot. It will quickly and gracefully reach and pick up a hammer, then mercilessly beat the car. While all the Honda executives look on in horror and Simone looks on in delight.
The devil is in the details I guess;) she already builds shitty robots professionally, because she is earning money by building them. So now she could be professionally building professionally built shitty robots for professionals. Or maybe that would be too dangerous. I am thinking shitty robots assembling cars or shitty transport robots in ports. oh dear... Imagine a shitty robot manufacturing a car. That would be a heck of a shitty car!!
I've noticed it recently that the comments on tested videos are really bad. Heaps of people are overly critical and angry at the tested team. Everyone just needs to calm down and enjoy the great content they produce
overly critical or maybe just wanting to have some sort of quality standard? And opinions can be critical and positive. I for example wouldn't call it "great content". Mediocre at best. If Adam wasn't there I guess a lot of interest would've gone away.
its always like this on anything getting made videos. I once saw a bunch of guys fighting in the comments over the right technique to pipe cream onto cake. Hitler got quoted and later in the fight death threats!
While Im not against the paid promotion, these just don't feel as fun. The features not standard have been really cool but the videos feel rushed and scripted without as much charm as a 1 day build
Adam, good move adding Simone to the team! Simone, you're a blast! To heat your bath just close up the truck for a hour or so in the sun and wala! No wetsuit required!! 👍🏻
Rather underwhelming. Where was the installed heating element that's hooked in to the car to keep the bath warm? Hot water is hard to come by when camping so this should have had a bottom chamber with heating!!! Just a box on a back seat does not a bath make.
Hot water isn't hard to come buy. Go to any sporting goods store, and you'll see plenty of solar and propane based solutions. HOWEVER, She forgot another important aspect: HOW TO DRAIN THE TUB WHEN SHE'S DONE! Last thing you want to do is get the truck interior soaked while trying to dump out all that water. And that tub isn't light anymore because of that added water.
Simone's ideas are usually well intentioned, and poorly executed, resulting in a signature type of entertainment. The fact she belabored how impractical this one was at fulfilling its core function makes me think it was done with her usual intention.
Actually, thank you for this video. I only found this channel recently (actually a friend did and knew I would love it), so the only thing I've seem from Simone is that hanger for hangers thing. But, when she said she never used a table saw I had a "what the heck" moment and googled her name to figure out why she was on your channel. I'm a new fan.
I love how Simone's style gets preserved in this. She builds shitty robots with crazy and impractical ideas. Her truck mod was exactly that: crazy, impractical, and doesn't work the way you'd normally intend. However, she had fun, learned new stuff and celebrated the success of her off the wall idea. It would have been so easy for her to come up with an idea and the rest of the team make sure it was something "cool", but they let her be off the wall and silly, which is why I love watching what she comes up with. Well done!
Whenever I see Adam using a table saw I remember what he said on a "Still Untitled" podcast: (paraphrasing) "Every time I use the table saw I imagine my severed fingers flying across the shop", I like that even with his obvious talent and comfort with tools, he still respects them.
I think it's just as childish to call people childish for not liking these videos. They have a reason to, these videos are edited differently with weird elevator music constantly playing, "artist" camera shots e.t.c. And the biggest issue I have is that in all the videos so far they don't really tell us the process of making things, just a few montages of sawing and cutting and that's it. They didn't even show us how to do the fibreglass coating. I get they want money from Honda but why not go into the same amount of detail as in the other videos. It's like they've gone "oh it's an advert so we're allowed to be lazy"
A lot of that is probably Honda's decision. Compare the three videos from The Wood Whisperer that are part of the same campaign. He does high-end woodworking, often with exotic hardwood. The sponsored videos were all plywood and simple corded tools.
I don't mind the pimping your skills for a buck. Selling out is not a bad thing. What bugs me about these videos is that they are light on the build details. I come to tested to see how things are done, and you are totally glossing over the details I'm interested in. Release the full build video please. Even if it is in a time lapse. Make it more like a one day build. :-)
I can understand the needs of the sponsor paying the bills. If they want it short but sweet, so be it. My request would be to put out a second extended video with the details of the build.
I fully agreee with you. The idea impractical as it is could be handy for a back deck hot tub or any other kind of water container but they glossed over the construction of the box and the coating/sealing. This could have been an educational video!
Zoe I'd call that a positive attitude. It can seem questionable because its not that often seen on TH-cam, the land of bloated ego's that love the camera.
@I don't know, that has to be the most casual thing you could say about a giant vehicle built to provide space. In the UK, one of our cars could have parked in the back seat.
+phototristan actually, i have. i worked in a noisy printing factory for 9 years where both hearing protection and eye protection was required on the floor at all times. you don't really think about it, but that one time you prevent something from poking out your eyeball, you saved your self all that pain and loss of your eyeball possibly. i thought it was stupid too when we started doing safety glasses but then i saw a guy almost poke his eye out with a pair of pliers, cuz he was pulling on something improperly, but they bounced off his glasses. but I've never worked in an environment that was dangerous.. nope.
I use a table saw every day and would never advise someone to wear safety glasses unless completely necessary, like when cutting lumber which may have nails in it. This was not the case here. Ear protection is a must though.
I know I saw Simone talk about being on the Tested team, but I did not really understand that is was a whole different TH-cam channel! Very nice tub and since the water source is in the bed you could use a solar water-bag and that would solve the heated water problem and privacy is assured since it is inside the cab! Then no wet suit needed! Lovely for the bashful or tub loving camper!
Looks like a sponsored video (nothing wrong with having sponsored content!) but I don't see a disclaimer about it anywhere. It is illegal not to disclose sponsorship deals in videos like this. The "Honda gave us an opportunity" line is pretty weak.. I understand you need to make money. I have no issue with sponsored content! But please disclose the deal clearly so everyone can be happy! :-)
I believe it is illegal atleast to not disclose it: If I upload a video to TH-cam and that video requires a disclosure, can I just put the disclosure in the description that I upload together with the video? No, because it’s easy for consumers to miss disclosures in the video description. Many people might watch the video without even seeing the description page, and those who do might not read the disclosure. The disclosure has the most chance of being effective if it is made clearly and prominently in the video itself. That’s not to say that you couldn’t have disclosures in both the video and the description. Source: www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/ftcs-endorsement-guides-what-people-are-asking I'd say they get away with it due to saying "Honda gave us an oppertunity" The guidelines state you should say something along the lines of "Honda gave us (*X amount of items/money*) to try out the new SUV" They're being as vague as they can be at Tested but i do believe since they're so vague its not actually legal on youtube .

Uncomfortable. Impractical. Useless. Sounds like a Simone Giertz build.
I LOVE IT!
I think they should've added a super-impractical soap-dispenser or other overly complicated device to make this thing count as another shitty robot :D
+
hear hear! i was expecting her to rig up something that would hang on the inside of the window, that'd wash her hair or do something wacky.

Adding Simone to the team is one of the best things to happen to this channel.

Hear hear.
Honestly, she's the only one that doesn't sound like a product placement robot.
agreed, Simone is a great addition to the team :)
here's a tip: If you leave the truck in the sun with all windows closed, it will actually get pretty hot in there.
You can have a sauna, never mind a bath,
then your car is gnna get moldy AF!

Could or couldn't?
Bonus point for Daan: queue the David Mitchell rant!
I like the trunk space under the bed in the ridgeline as a solution for trunk storage. Looking at the model on the ad, I just wonder how it affects ground clearance compared to a typical truck.
What paskowitz is saying is that they care somewhere between at least a little bit to a lot....
I don't understand why the bathtub doesn't come as a standard fitting in the first place. Who needs passenger seats when you can have a bathtub.
Man I love the crazy Simone brings to Tested
you mean the meat
I wouldn't call her lazy...actually she has been around the world doing talk shows and meetings and other such stuff.
soft drink
Come on. I'm the last not to acknowledge that her not having a penis is a refreshing change and does make a difference.

Adam's reactions to Simone's project proposals are always amusing.
Why did they measure the truck AFTER they had already built the tub?
Odd editing.
they built the tub to the size they'd need for Simone to fit in it, then hoped it would fit into the truck. Maybe plan B if it was too big might have been to try to do something in the truck bed and ditch the cold open.
The edited are clips order of out.
Belias Phyre It thanks! got, cool
I've had enough of your common sense!
Second thought:
I really liked seeing Simone learning stuff from another being. It was humbling and honest. :3
This mix of a useless invention and rubber ducks makes me happy :)
I get it
Psst kids! Listen. Adults need to make money. This is a fun project and they get a bit cash for it, you should be happy.
hit the point ;)

I find the lack of robots... disturbing...
But somehow this project is still so like Simone to do lol
The Queen of Shitty Robots claims the crown of the Queen of Shitty Bathtubs! Soon, QUEEN OF THE WHOLE SHITTY WORLD!
Man, I'd love to have Adam teach me the ins and outs of fabrication. And the genuine excitement Simone brings to the video that bounces off Adam made even this silly project fun to watch.
Move the radiator into the tub and run the engine for a bit.
put a block heater in it and hook it up to a 110v inverter
Or a small 55 gal fish tank heater..
I would have added a small IBC tote (250 Gallons) and just pack a kiddy pool in the trunk (or cut the top off the IBC tote).. With a strong enough water Pump and nozzle and hose you could fill the pool up fast And why not register as a voluntary fire fighter while your at it..
You just made a party firetruck..
Fracture they're in California, just fill the tub, close the doors and stick it in the sun, problem solved.
If you really wanted to heat the water, it'd be simple to make a heat exchanger, but I'm assuming they didn't want them to start making alterations to the engine.
Be sure to capture the heat from the inverter, it'll be dumping half your power out its heatsinks. Probably better to get a 12V heater instead.
Simone was a PERFECT fit for this channel. Very excited to see where things go.
I'm waiting for this to come in Truckla
Simone Giertz rocks! She has it in so many ways!
Simone is TOO DANG GREAT!! So funny and cool. Fantastic video! Cool to see her and Adam hang out!
yeah Adam teaching Simone is the best thing ever!!!!
Stop complaining about ads jesus christ I think they pulled it off pretty well and I loved the vid, can't wait to see more of Simone's builds etc!
Shane Phillips Yea... Thanks shane... but everyone is referring to the ad/sponsor in the video...
There's nothing wrong with the sponsor here, they always kind of amuse me.
I love how adam is teaching simone alot. its good for her its always good to learn more ^.^
Disapointed about the cold water / simonenot in a bikini :P
I love how Norm is like : *This is the Ridgeback, it has a cool, nice, spacious cabin. It's so nice!*
And then Simone's like: *Yeah, cool, how wide is it?*
I would like to thank the people at TESTED! I feel that they are listening to the community. Uhh, how do you drain it?
had no idea Simone was part of tested now. I've been a fan of hers for awhile. I like the enthusiasm she brings to the team!
Hey guys! Let's spend all this time building a wooden bathtub, and then measure where it is supposed to do. YAAAAAY!
Matthew Choy lol yeah I was confused why they were measuring after they built it
Matthew Choy most likely an editing error, seeing as it did fit right the first time.
Genius. Simone is like the wildcard that this channel needed!
people complaining about sponsored content shouldn't watch free videos
People complaining about pollution shouldn't eat biscuits. Makes about the same amount of sense.
People complaining about complaining shouldn't internet
Dan Ross
likewise ;)
people
Simone is such an excellent addition to Tested.
Was kinda hoping to see Norm in a bikini, I'm a little disappointed guys
using his square drillbit press that all woodworkers own.
Put a drainage on a side, add portable water heater, and it's ready for mass production. Bonus practical points for making it collapsible to fit in the back.
Taking a bath in a truck...obviously! I am excited for this!
soo "stuleja"... :(
Watching Simone learn from Adam is really great! but Simone, watch out, soon you'll have so much skill that you can not build naively shitty robots anymore!

You could heat the bath by putting an old central heating gas boiler heat exchanger in a camp fire and hook up some hoses to it and letting the water flow through there. Trust me, I have done it with a trailer full of water ;)
Soon she will be able to build professional shitty robots
One day Simone will unveil her new automotive assembly robot. It will quickly and gracefully reach and pick up a hammer, then mercilessly beat the car. While all the Honda executives look on in horror and Simone looks on in delight.
The devil is in the details I guess;) she already builds shitty robots professionally, because she is earning money by building them. So now she could be professionally building professionally built shitty robots for professionals. Or maybe that would be too dangerous.

Imagine a shitty robot manufacturing a car. That would be a heck of a shitty car!!
I love it that the bathtub works but also doesn't. It brings Adam's and Simone's styles together perfectly.
I expected more, a rail system to slide it in and out of the cab, a way to drain the tub, heated water etc.. C'mon Adam!
Watching Adam mentor someone is so awesome.
This is how you make ads watchable. You take the 'tv mindset' out of youtube and make 'youtube ads'.
She can brighten anyone's day.
If it fits, it sits! :3
Dear miss Simone, ur awesome! Pls just continue to be honest... that is what we all love.
Love I.R
amazing! I can't wait to see what other Rube Goldberg-esq ideas she comes up with!
This is the coolest one I have seen so far!
Where is Simone's safety glasses? :O We want her in one piece.... and seeing...
I am building a CaR-V out of my 2002 Honda Accord and I love this! Good job guys!
did they think to add a drainage system or are they gonna have to bucket out that water?
they didn't even think half that far... I mean they didn't even think about heating up the water...
Simone mentioned a pump to get the water into the "tub" so just switch positions and it will get the water out again.
If they're just gonna dump the water, siphoning it out is a much better solution than to implement a drain in the bottom of the tub
she said she had a pump, so no drainage needed
Yep, but even when they have a pump, there's no need to use it when you just want to dispose the water in the tub
Yeah ! Another Premium Build by Simone !
I've noticed it recently that the comments on tested videos are really bad. Heaps of people are overly critical and angry at the tested team. Everyone just needs to calm down and enjoy the great content they produce

Adam and Simon!!! I love you guys.
So no way to drain the water??that's weird
You can siphon it out without needing a drain in the bottom.
Simone should be empress of the world because everyone wants her to be happy.
Reminds me of Colin Furze's BMW
Almost. This bath tub was really slow.
Simone is awesome. Looking forward to more of her stuff in the future.
While Im not against the paid promotion, these just don't feel as fun. The features not standard have been really cool but the videos feel rushed and scripted without as much charm as a 1 day build
Simone is the best part about this commercial
4:19 - Out of context look's like Simone is trying out a coffin.
I love Simone's personality!
I just want more One Day Builds, plz. It's what I subscribed for.
Adam, good move adding Simone to the team! Simone, you're a blast! To heat your bath just close up the truck for a hour or so in the sun and wala! No wetsuit required!! 👍🏻
7:26 NO! I.. I am enjoying this..
Honda: hey you want to modify our trucks
Simone: hey guys
Honda: oh shit
Hyneman looks cuter after Mythbuster went off the air.
It's kind of sweet seeing Adam teach Simone how to use the table saw.
Rather underwhelming. Where was the installed heating element that's hooked in to the car to keep the bath warm? Hot water is hard to come by when camping so this should have had a bottom chamber with heating!!! Just a box on a back seat does not a bath make.

nauthizzz
Let's see campfire + metal bucket = hot water
put a rock in a campfire, take rock and put it in tub, repeat until water is warm.
Actually, thank you for this video. I only found this channel recently (actually a friend did and knew I would love it), so the only thing I've seem from Simone is that hanger for hangers thing. Kinda expected more... I mean it IS tested... A box on slats in the back of a truck? Boring.
Guys! I just received the Bear poster from Adam's ComicCon sketches. I love it!! Thank you so much!
she is his padawan :)
I've been subscribed to tested for almost a year now and I've never noticed that Simone is a apart of the team,

No bad words!!! Great job Simone!!! :D
Simone use solar heating it may do the trick.

Solar water heater in the bed!
I was keen to get the full 3/5 experience, and Simone did not disappoint. 6/10 would 3/5 again.
Haven't you heard of transparent aluminium?
Would be interesting to see an evolution of this project that takes more than 50m to build. The idea is great and can definitively work
I just can't decide who is more handsome.
XD

A lot of that is probably Honda's decision. Compare the three videos from The Wood Whisperer that are part of the same campaign. He does high-end woodworking, often with exotic hardwood. The sponsored videos were all plywood and simple corded tools.
I get they'd want them to be simpler to somehow appeal to a wide audience...but then why target it at such a niche group.
you know they have a website where you can get the full info on stuff they create. you just have to be a paid subscriber to their site.
T
I'm not a complicated person, I see Simone I click.
Matthew Parets its a box, covered in fibreglass. Not hard
+bo holland Yeah it's not like their building the Deathstar ( w/c I would love to see in detail).
I fully agreee with you. The idea impractical as it is could be handy for a back deck hot tub or any other kind of water container but they glossed over the construction of the box and the coating/sealing.
This could have been an educational video!
bo holland Sure, but this is the third video they have done like this and they have all been light on the details.
I LIKE THIS!
simone made it better, watchable.
What a great invention!!!!!!!
Simone, my little Swedish fish... please always wear safety glasses.
Glad to see simone grew from doing homemade videos to be a part of the Tested team
So what are we testing here other than my patience?
I love how abrasively Americanised they made what I thought was a Simone Giertz, channel build. Its cool and all but I wasnt ready for that.
lol that #ad
Queen of camping bathtubs
*SellOuts*
4:38 Norm: "Pretty spacious cabin here" CRINGE!!!
Uh, Honda is buying us more Norm, Simone and Adam. Bring it on.
Norm is almost legally a midget, don't forget that.
just wish they would actually make an effort, actually do something that would be semi functional.
I love Simone's craziness, reminds me of me sometimes :-)
Adam is an awesome teacher, nice team!
Kinda disappointed. You made a box and put water in it. That's the video?
So go make something better!
If I got a truck and thousands of dollars to make a "video" then dang right I would.
that's the invention*
It's crappy bathtub
I want more Simone and Adam builds
No eye protection when using the table saw? Uh, just no...
or hearing protection :/
You clearly haven't worked in a professional shop environment.
+phototristan actually, i have. i worked in a noisy printing factory for 9 years where both hearing protection and eye protection was required on the floor at all times. you don't really think about it, but that one time you prevent something from poking out your eyeball, you saved your self all that pain and loss of your eyeball possibly. i thought it was stupid too when we started doing safety glasses but then i saw a guy almost poke his eye out with a pair of pliers, cuz he was pulling on something improperly, but they bounced off his glasses. but I've never worked in an environment that was dangerous.. nope.
My dad uses a stick so he doesnt lean over it, that shit sketchy. He learnt his lesson drom cutting the end if his finger off
I use a table saw every day and would never advise someone to wear safety glasses unless completely necessary, like when cutting lumber which may have nails in it.
pjlehtim is it still illegal if they disclose it in the description below the video? I am not familiar with all the details of the law in that area.

I'd say they get away with it due to saying "Honda gave us an oppertunity" The guidelines state you should say something along the lines of "Honda gave us (*X amount of items/money*) to try out the new SUV" They're being as vague as they can be at Tested but i do believe since they're so vague its not actually legal on youtube .
Learning how to use a table saw.... from Adam Savage... lol. Priceless!
