I always thought this character was not very woman empowering and actually counterintuitive. If a woman character would like to show she is amazing and badass. What they would probably want to do is Define themselves independently as opposed to writing the coattails of some popular property already established. Things like lady Thor or She-Hulk or Spider Woman. They're not independent because they go off the idea that you already heard of this successful property. However things like Wonder Woman or Xena or Sailor Moon are all things that I ask you to give it a fair chance just like any other independent property made from an original idea

Since the Thor has been used as a title of whoever is considered worthy, it is then considered a phase certain characters go through as a power up. Not their whole entity. Jane Foster keeps on being her after being Thor, and so does everyone else. Like the cosmic powers granted to superheroes from time to time.

I think is was unnecessary to social justice Thor to a female just to do it. Sure it added some interesting story but eliminating all the original Avengers and changing them to different characters was a horrible moment in comics history that need not be repeated.
I like story arcs like Civil War which split up the heroes and thus forces the groups formed to find newer heroes. There was no social justice involved, Thor has been unworthy of his hammer many times.
