This is exactly the kind of stuff i've wanted for years! As a player who has never raided and only done a couple of mythic+ dungeons, as i don't particularly enjoy grouping with random people, the delves and all the other solo content are right up my alley. Thank you for informing me about this, might have to consider buying the new expansion! :D
@MrJans99 Thanks for checking out the video! If you do return I hope you enjoy the content! Finally something solo players can do that's more than world quests!
I've been wanting to try World of Warcraft for a long time, but I haven't been someone to group up with randoms in games for a while now. It's always felt like I'd be missing out on the "meat and potatoes" of the game. I love Blizzard's approach to art direction, lore, and general world feel in their games, and it's great to see I'll be able to engage with that without missing out on its various systems/paths due to being solo/casual-ish. I have the week off so I think I'll finally take the plunge. Thanks for the perspective on these new features. You're incredibly well spoken and I look forward to future videos.
Thank you so much for the kind words and thanks for coming by! Yeah the solo/casual content is fantastic this expansion, if they can just nail down delve balancing. They will though. Just may take a few more iterations lol.
I feel this really tackles WoW's biggest problem: toxic playerbase. When you're new to the game, especially MMORPGs, you want to try and understand what dungeons and etc are about. Majority of the time, you end up joining a random group where everyone is already an experienced player who only care about rushing a new alt to the finish line. So you always run into people with trash personalities. I've been playing WoW since vanilla TBC, and at some point after Legion, I just completely gave up on the whole PUG dungeons/raids/etc. Eventually friends would lose interest, and so I'd be stuck by myself doing nothing late game, so I would eventually drop. New expan would have me on again for maybe 3 weeks max then I'd drop again. This expan not only interests me again, but other friends again, just because of the single player content. We're all older now and it's very hard to situate a time that suits us all, so being able to play the game and not rely on toxic PUG players is a blessing. WoW ended up getting so much more interest now than I've seen in years, that being said they also earned a lot of brownie points with the last expansion too. They seem to be on an upwards path. No idea what caused that but I am really liking it. The only thing that's missing now is player housing. They finally add that, then it'll be the best MMORPG by far. I don't include WoD garrisons for that, since it's not really that extensively customisable like say, ESO housing is.
And it's not just solo play as well! If you have even a single other friend or s.o. that is playing, you can do normal dungeons together and learn them, and even do end game progression together in delves. I do hope they bring some sort of tiered progression to the follower dungeons as well, that would be lovely. 100% agree on housing. Garrisons really don't scratch that customization itch. There are now so many good mmo's out there that do a great job with player housing I think there are plenty of models Blizzard could pull from to build a system that fits in their game. And furthermore, with their extensive instancing and phasing tech they have all the tools they need. They would just have to prioritize it, but I don't see that being the case any time soon, sadly.
This is fantastic. I just started playing WOW last weekend after 8 years of playing FF14 exclusively. I enjoy playing solo in FF14 and Im glad I can do it too at some extent in WOW as well.
Follower dungeons sound awesome. I like to quest while sitting with my wife watching a movie, so I can't communicate with a raid party. This is perfect for me. I just came back after leaving at the beginning of BFA. I hated having to do dungeons for levelling crafting.
And now having done several, I can vouch for just how awesome they are. Want to take your time to appreciate the environement? Want to learn how to tank the dungeon without being pressured to race through it by DPS? Forgot a quest item and need to go back to the first dungeon? Follower Dungeons are perfect for all these scenarios. I'm hoping in a future update they add some sort of tier progression system for these like they have for Delves.
@@ImStillPlaying omigah I didn't even think of the possibility of learning other roles! I've always done dps because of feeling rushed and pressured to fly through.
Dammit Dusty, stop tempting me! I've got a new SSD coming on Sunday which will give me some more storage space and I guess I'll have to have another go. This time I'll make something other than a fugly male human character though. But yeah this all sounds really good to me as a died-in-the-wool solo player. Side Note: I kind of feel like you should start every video by showing us your shirt because we can never see the bottoms of them and they all seem like they say something clever!
Brutha I had you in mind when I made this video cause I know you're like me! C'mon check it out! And lol I actually have a list of which shirts I've worn so far so as to try not to repeat too often. Maybe I'll put the full text of the shirt in the description lol. 🤣
The player base is getting older with more responsibility. I myself work 12 hour night shifts so raiding and alot of group content is unavailable to me. So this is a good start for the new expansion.
Yeah I came back after after 3 or 4 years of not playing. I love the new stuff that you mentioned. I am a 57 year old that loves wow! Wish I had this when I was a kid!😂
Ths is all music to my ears - I used to be Big Into Raiding(tm) and then realised I didn't want or need a 2nd job :D I'm very much a filthy casual, so being able to tackle a lot of content solo or casually with friends really works for me.
well TBH i was tempted to go back or not,but didn't know this about solo + Npc dungeon thing, which definitely interesting me and I buy expansion now.I am old guard 2006. WoW player. Thanks for info
Yeah I really do think the game is as good as it's ever been for returning players that don't have predefined player groups waiting for them. Thanks for coming by the channel!
Been playing Wow since Closed Beta in 2004. Stopped a few times but currently have not stepped foot in Azeroth in a year. Always hated being pretty much forced to group in some way to progress my character. I may buy TWW soon since it appears to be very intriguing to me, a solo player. I would start a fresh Level 1 if I did to take it all in. 😊 Still debating..
Honestly there hasn't been a better time to return to WoW as a solo, casual, unguilded player than right now. Even if you decide to start fresh again! Do eet!
I agree it is very solo friendly- so solo friendly that I am wondering why there is even a monthly subscription? Honestly, I believe the player base would skyrocket if they charged for the expansions, cosmetics, etc, but did away with the monthly subs. It works for D4.
@pentaj3036 I think if this were a new franchise that style of monetization could possibly work. But changing your core monetization model on a 20 year old MMO would be incredibly risky. Still more than one MMO has found success with a f2p model.
The best solo content was never in WoW. GW2 has so much fun for solo players and ESO too. Sadly ESO feels weird after coming back many years later and GW2 end game is not my cup of tea :)
@vecislt I think there is almost an entire vlog I could do on GW2 and its differences from other MMOs. I will say, in short, I don't disagree with you.

Absolutely and thanks for coming by and giving the channel a visit!

FFXIV is a fantastic game I've played it quite a bit myself as well. Glad you're enjoying WoW!

Sounds like it is time for me to play a few months of WoW again. A lot of these improvements seem to be ones I will like!
