      Don't compare yourself to this person. She's done well but by no means self-made. It's clear that alot of the expenses are carried by a husband or parent. Unless she has an insane side hustle on top of her profession, that 1.5 mill property doesn't just have her name on it, nor is the savings from budgeting her own expenses. She should not have gone on Glamour without her partner or parent as she is not self-made by any means.

      She likely just meant that because she works at a well-known & well-funded school, their tuition cost is less. Generally, the better well-known school, the cheaper the tuition after aid. And the "amazing" students that are able to get admitted to such good schools are also likely to get scholarships to pay for a large portion of remaining tuition - in other words, they get a "budget" education.
      The only problem is that only top students get admitted to such universities.

    • @jessislistless
      @jessislistless 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't negate the point she makes.
      In Europa, most universities are affordable and with student loans, if you live at home, it's essentially free. Student loans debt is the least of our issues, so there are people who become "career students" who go ahead to study for years. In this setting, it's fully understandable.
      Not in the US. Unless you have someone bankrolling your education or you're on scholarship, it is highly important to use every semester in your chosen institution wisely to avoid racking up debt. People change their mind, I get that. When there's so much money and time on the line, some people should really consider if they're going to an out-of-state ivy league school for the right reasons.

I make 120k/year and feel like, after taxes and 401k deductions, i use nearly half my monthly take-home on rent..My rent is increasing again this year. I don't prefer roommates and finding a single bedroom apartment for cheap is basically a pipe-dream. So my thought was to own some real-estate instead. The rate increases on interest mayas well be the last two years of exorbitant rent i've been paying..... Is using up 1/3-1/2 monthly salary on rent tenable?

      Opportunity cost man. If your not in Cali, San Fran, or DC, you can pay around 2k a month on a mortgage, but that money is going towards an asset.
      What does living on the outskirts of a major city do for you? Doesn’t sound like your close enough for down town for that to be a pro. Commute to work maybe? I think your better off finding a decent suburb 20 min away from the city and locking in a fixed housing payment (mortgage). That way if a landlord decides a 15% rent increase, your fine.

      @@SC-zg6iv Y’all trying so hard to discredit her and it’s insane. She literally puts $4k in their joint account every month. That’s close to $50k per year that she’s putting in her and husbands account. Shes contributing more than most people are these days.

    If she has 550k saved, that's impressive. A lot of people have zero when they retire. Not sure why people can't have some money saved. Bad management?

    This isn’t “HER” finances, it’s her and her husbands. Sounds like he makes a lot more then she does or she got a lot of money from her parents. Regardless without the info of her husbands income this video makes NO SENSE!
