- Ukrainian forces have liberated a key village in the southern region of Kherson, forcing another Russian military retreat.
The defence ministry in Kyiv posted a video showing troops raising a Ukrainian flag above Davydiv Brid, amid reports of several other nearby villages being recaptured.
Russian forces have already been forced to retreat in Ukraine's north-east. They are now being pushed back in the south as well.

Nobody else thinks how strange it is that the infantry chose to stand on the road, and not take cover in the woods before being killed?
Why do you imagine they had time? Go look at pictures of the road leading from the Falaise pocket in 1944. Hundreds of photos of dead German soldiers lying in the road next to woods. There's nothing remotely unusual about this.

Both sides will feel the effect. Neither are superhuman.
It will be down to equipment and maintenance.
Russian equipment is poorly maintained and most of their troops haven't spent 8 years on the Donbas front. Ukraine learned a lot from that trench warfare.
mobile vehicle warfare will crawl to a halt until such a point that the ground can freeze and harden, which is not a 100% chance- one of the reasons the initial push into ukraine did so poorly for tanks and other vehicles was because of a particularly warm winter where the ground never fully froze, remaining a muddy and wet mess, meaning that tanks, armored vehicles, and heavy trucks had severe difficulty traversing the muddy swamps that spring up in ukraine (typically during fall and spring, though sometimes during winter)

The legendary mud of late autumn early winter makes anything but roads practically impassable for vehicles, giving and advantage to defenders since they don't have to move as much and they know the only feasible route for heavy weapons. Winter is almost easier since the ground becomes frozen, but conditions become appalling for troops, just keeping them in the line becomes a challenge and digging in becomes a serious problem without heavy machinery. Potentially the Russians could use winter to slow the pace, consolidate and bring their battered units up to strength. On the other hand lousy logistics, poor equipment, inexperienced troops, inadequate fuel and clothing could be catastrophic, particularly in an exhausted army with low morale. Reports of the new conscripts having to buy their own equipment does not bode well if Ukraine can manage to keep up the pressure. This is one of the reasons that Ukraine is being almost reckless in the speed and commitment of their advance, and one reason why the Russians want to outrun them since the ability to form a defensive line and hunker down for the winter is more important than holding territory at this point.

Is it just me or do the Russian bots seem just a little down recently? No real enthusiasm for the job, very little variety in their comments and the quality of the whataboutery has fallen dramatically. It’s almost as if they don’t believe what they’re being paid to write.
Still, it could be a job that keeps you from being sent to Ukraine after 6 hours of lacklustre training with a potato and three tampons. Well, for the moment at least.
They are still trying various arguments that make out that Russia is winning. The "Ukraine is not victorious, it is just occupying territory that Russia has freely chosen to withdraw from and never intended to keep" and the "these are planned withdrawals prior to a massive offensive by Russia" and the "Ukraine is just destroying its own army uselessly as Russia will inevitably win (because ?)".
I do not know how they are paid, but some are verbose (see Roland Lee and Matt Potten above) whereas others just cut and paste repetitively, or are simply abusive.
Potten is a first in that he attempts an argument from authority! ("Russia is winning and will prevail because I think it will and I am smarter than everybody else.")
Yes, I've been noting exactly the same :) They normally are only focused on mass media channels in YT, like BBC, DW, France24, CNN. But in the last week krembots have gone down dramatically, only a few tankis (which they tend to be indians or muslims) are active here and there... I wonder if some recruitment officer has visited the trollcenter :)

Ukraine needs at least 50 more Himars in order to liberate its territory
That's overkill. Even with 16 units, Ukraine can turn the tide by pulverizing Russian artilleries, fortification and so on. It's now waiting for the next 18 units from Uncle.
I think they have like 20 himars and 12 m270
America is running out of the Himar rockets. Very slow to produce more.
