The new vantage point of the camera really puts a different perspective on the boat, it's so tall. Looks great.

Great work! It's progressing fast now, starting to look like a boat more and more for each week.

Hello, yes it sure is. My pile of plywood is disappearing rapidly. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Cheers, Steve.

If i may, its your boat so your call, but may i suggest at least 1 set of hanging knees on that beam where your two sheets of plywood met at the beginning of the video.
Love the progress! Keep the videos coming 👍

Hello, thanks for your interest. If you mean on the sides, they will be reinforced, or supported if you like, with structural framing between the windows and also by some cabinets, which will also add structural strength. Thanks again for watching and taking an interest. Take care, Steve.

Improving your algorithm chances by liking and commenting on all videos, does that really work.
I hope so its one of the reasons I do it :)

Nice work Steve and finally we get to see the beam laminating jig 😀
I was wondering for some time now how you made these beams…. So now i know 🤓

Hi Erick, ahh yes, the old 'beam laminating jig' lol It is just a bunch of L brackets screwed down to a flat panel. Very simple, but effective. Cheers, Steve and Maple (who enjoyed some time in the shed today)

That was a quick laminate for your beams that is a perfect mall for the beams. What I want to now is when your finished the wood work are going laminate the hole hulls?

Hello, thanks for watching and following along. The bottom of the boat is 3 layers of 12mm ply, coated in a layer of heavy biaxial fibreglass cloth. The rest of the boat will be wrapped in a layer of thinner woven cloth. This is for protection rather than strength, and it prevents any crazing or surface cracking of the plywood. I did this same process on another boat I built over 25 years ago and she still looks like the day I launched her. Thanks again for watching, take care. Steve.

Love the boat! Any worries of it being top heavy?

Hi Dana, if we were going to sea, then probably a big yes. However, this boat is designed tor the calm and sheltered waters of our Murray River. There is more weight below the gunnels on this boat than on the 31 footer I built many years ago, and she had no stability issues at all. If required, there will be the ability to add ballast below the floor along the centre of the boat. I am hoping this will not be required. Thanks again for watching, take care. Steve.

    Hey, Steve, you’re killing it!
I remember when you first started you had, maybe 60-100 sheets of that plywood.stacked near the wall.
So, I’m curious, how many have you used to date? Will you have enough
Thank you for posting the video, man you are really getting it done.
Keep up the outstanding work! She looks amazing.
    Joe

Hello Joe, thanks for taking an interest and following along. Yes it was a huge pile of plywood, not sure how many sheets I had. But I will check and put that in the next video. I have about 20 sheets left now which should come very close to finishing the whole boat. I will try and put some plywood numbers in the next video. Cheers, Steve

Hello again, sorry I forgot to include plywood numbers in the last video. I started with 132 sheets and I have about 10 left. I think I will need a few more than that, but not many. In fact I think I may only need 5 or 6 extra which is not a bad calculation working from a tiny balsa wood model. Cheers, Steve
