- The Beaches are in a season of change. The Toronto-based band left their major label deal, hired a new team, and started embracing social media to reach new audiences. Now, they have a number one single, a viral hit on TikTok, and a brand new album, Blame My Ex. Jordan and Kylie Miller of The Beaches talk to Tom about how everything had to fall apart for everything to come together.

I am 50, my wife is almost 50 as well... we just discovered The Beaches this year. We have listened to their entire back catalog as well as the new album. I haven't see live music in almost 15 years but we are going to go see them in 2024 in Minnesota!
I'm 55 and just discovered them in time to see them live. You will have a blast! The crowd was all ages and bopping!
@@heathergallant2469 Great band that, like Ghost, is keeping classic rock alive. Pity they don't get the attention bands much less interesting (at least to me) do.
51 here and I just get such Blondie and punk vibes from them - love it!
Hi 👋. I'm 68 years, and am going to see them THIS Saturday, here in Portland Oregon! 🎵🎸. Cheers
I'm 55 and kids that grew up in the 80's seem young at heart, and I also love their music starting with Blame Brett.
"I'm not ready for therapy, to take accountability" says all the meaning of this song. This is an amazing song and I love it
For people not ready to settle down.
At 53, I never thought I would be searching for more information about an all-girl band.
Love them.
These 4 young Canadians have some serious musical talent. See them live if you can! I have and am seeing them again shortly!
Blame Brett is a wonderfully well written song that sheds a little new light on the breakup formula, that is so used by so many other songwriters. Not easy to give a new take on a well-worn subject.
Canadian music is the best music. Way to go Beaches. May you join the music hall of fame some day. They write and play with your hearts. I hope they never lose that passion.
Music hall of fame sounds like the most Canadian thing ever.
Prince: "When I left Warner Brothers, I sold half as many albums and made twice as much money."
I know that Tom and the girls are young. But one of the greatest albums ever written and produced, Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, was powered by the breakups that were taking place within the band in 1976. Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham split, as did John and Christine McVie. Nearly every song at that album was addressed to a member of the band. Stevie wrote about Lindsay. Lindsay wrote about Stevie. Christine did the same with John. That album was raw with hurt. And, if you watch the early 1977 live performances, you can see Stevie looking right in Lindsay's direction as she sings Dreams, with real and raw emotion. Blame Brett has that same, similar emotion.
Im a DJ and I been dropping Beaches into many of my sets. They are pure vibe.
Almost 50 yrs old here and LOVE this whole record! Never heard of them before this but bought in pre-sale n constantly playing the album. Discovered on tiktok and can’t wait for the show in WINNNIPEG 🎉
Same
Yeah blame Brett, I wonder if the mean Brett Hart?
12:05 Total sibling moment! Great record, great band. Saw them live in Moncton, they are the real deal
Kyli called me out for finding them on tiktok and then going all the way through the discography 😅💯
Same 😂
I'm in love with Jordan and I've never met her, so you really can't blame the guy who said he loved her after 3 dates. But them listening to the The Cure a lot partly explains my Beaches obsession--I had just seen The Cure (amazing) a few days before I first heard, and was blown away by, The Beaches.
The Beaches are opening for Greta at our state fair this year. I had never heard of them, so I took a deep dive and I'm obsessed! Our entire family adores them now. We're in our 50's, kiddos are in their 20's. I can't wait to see them live.
Found you on my instagram reels lol- the video of you all wearing wigs and singing "Blame Brett" Just like Kylie said, Ive been diving back into the older discography and I'm so into it 💕 I love The Beaches!!!
What a great interview. Three clearly really intelligent people connecting and being vulnerable together.
I'm a sixty year old guy and I love this record. Concert is very soon.
Often a wonderful interviewer. Love these wonderful women. A+
Tom Power is a great interviewer.
This is a great interview. Great questions, no talking over the interviewees. Love it.
So happy you had them on, great interview!
Tom, you always have great interviews. Much appreciated. Thanks for interviewing this band.

Who would drop The Beaches ?!
What about "Max" though? It sounds already like a short version of "my ex" :D
This song came out during the worst time in my 10 year marriage. My name is Brett.
EVERYONE that were in relationships feel your pain.
So much Cure influence, Breeders and Go Go's
As a dude I just say blame Britt' in my head.
Catchy song. I just don’t understand how celebrating a toxic mentality is empowering.
I blame Tom for everything
Blame Blair
Double alliteration, actually.
Umm eurotrip….
