Taking a multiple-week break seems to help me quite often lol. So does streaming to TH-cam for the first time apparently...
This is by far the hardest game I have yet LNN'd. It has all the good stuff: pretty rough routing, strong RNG attacks, takes pretty long, and can end you whenever it wants.
LoLK has a very hard early-game for LNN (Lunatic No Deaths/Bombs). You've got the hardest stage 1 of all Touhous to deal with, Seiran's first spell that is just really rough, Ringo's Lunatic September spell card, and Doremy's nonspells + her third spell. There are so many hard things so early in the game already, it's pretty scary.
Stage 4 is pretty okay, but is also good at getting a cheeky hit in on you if you mess your route up or don't pay enough attention. Though it's the only stage that takes it easy on you.
Stage 5 I probably don't need to explain. Luckily Reimu's homing is incredibly strong and trivialises the small fairy laser sections. However, the 3 big laser fairies and the final chapter with the star spam can put all your hard effort so far to complete waste if they decide to be stupid.
Clownpiece is also hard, but not as bad as Doremy. Her biggest threat is Flash&Stripe, and sometimes the nons or Hell's Grazing Secret can make things hard for you (as you can see on this run where I kinda messed Grazing Secret up but managed to recover).
But going through stage 1 to 5 all in a row without dying or bombing is only half of the work. Most of the pain goes into stage 6, into Junko's pretty cruel boss fight.
Lilies of Murderous Intent can sometimes be incredibly nasty with its bullet directions and Junko's movement. This is honestly the scariest thing up to that point in the run, and another nice case of LoLK's "you gotta play well, but the RNG needs to be just enough on your side".
Then you've got Modern Divine Spirit World, which is the weirdest card in terms of danger. It's INCREDIBLY random, even the bullet spawning seems to be random, I really don't get it. This thing can go from absolutely free to (second) hardest thing in the game out of nowhere. Most people consider it not to be dangerous, especially those who play pointdevice a lot as they can cap it whenever the RNG decides to be nice to them. But if you have to be consistent on this attack, it takes serious practice. It also got pretty close to killing me on this run.
Then you get a nonspell and spell that are usually okay (though junko's non got close to killing me on this particular run), followed up by the biggest random coinflip of the game: Pristine Lunacy. This is the one real card where if the RNG is bad and the lasers decide to pop up in a dubious angle multiple times, I don't know what to do. It's the only attack that can make me go full deer-in-headlights if I get unlucky. So yes, that is the only real moment where I need to pray. Luckily, it gave pretty okay RNG on this run.
Survival spell is easy enough though I was personally experiencing some rust on it.
And then you have the grand finale named "Pristine Danmaku Hell", which FULLY lives up to its name. This monstrosity is most likely the hardest final spell in Touhou and potentially the hardest spell of all Touhou maingames. You NEED to be able to dodge on a high level, and even then RNG plays a pretty big role as the attack is quite random. For Lunatic Perfect, nothing has been decided until you're through this attack. It's the cherry upon a densely-packed-with-hundreds-of-thousands-of-bullets cake.
But I've made my way through it. I did not even think I would ever get this run, and definitely not this "quickly"!

I guess I should seriously try and LNN every game now, really. I will probably mostly be busy with Touhou 16 though, obviously. I can't wait for that game's release!

If you mean "beat" as in just 1cc the game on Lunatic, LoLK's probably top 3 easiest touhous. Pick Reisen, bomb at the start of every stage, and it's pretty easy with some pathing knowledge. I don't know why you struggled with it.
If you meant no bomb or no Sanae/Reisen though, I fully get it.

@@ddd-op5wy yeah, reisen's bomb is really good, but I prefer sanae for the unique reason that i get SO DAMN MANY clipdeaths from not being used to the humongus hitbox of reisen in her bomb, like ffs you can litteraly not dodge junko's nons with your bomb active, so i just burn my bomb at light speed whenever there is micrododging

Actually, I don't think I've reached the thousands on it yet. Probably around 600 or so. I'm not at my big PC right now so I can't give the actual stats just yet.

I'm kinda sad the game is untranslated here though, because if you're on the road to getting a no-miss clear,
Junko's dialogue will change to her Pointdevice Mode dialogue, and "admit defeat" (although you still need to no-miss vs. her to get the good ending). Getting that on Legacy mode is already a really good feeling IMO.
It works too if you get to her on practice without dying

Update: On October 14, 2023, notbluebus got a LoLK LNN of his own, meaning after more than 6 years of this run being done, it is no longer the only Western LoLK LNN!
You know it's insane when the midboss is also the the Stage 1 boss, AND FILLS THE SCREEN WITH BULLETS.

Ridiculously impressive, I wasn't sure I'd ever actually see a perfect Lunatic run of this game when I saw how wild Junko gets. I got a mix of feelings from this...considering I've yet to even reach Junko on PD Normal with any character, it tells me just how meager I am in the grand scheme, even if beating a single spell makes me feel accomplished in the short term. (Then again, I'm a casual.) On the other hand, I do feel a bit of joy when I see that I have in a few cases nailed down the optimal strategy for dealing with a section on my own, considering that's probably my second-biggest weakness in these games (first being godawful twitch reflexes).

Ok this is quite the run to say the least.
I mean, not just because of the LNN itself, but, if you can LNN the hardest game, it only makes sense that you are skilled enough to be able to LNN any of the other games if you want. Absolutely nice, congrats!.

If I'm ever asked why I'm so addicted to Touhou, I always send them this video. I think LoLK's Lunatic bullet spreads easily encapsulate why I love this franchise so much. I don't think anyone can look at this and say these patterns aren't gorgeous

It's a shame that this is the hardest 2hu ( so hard that ZUN had to include the point device option) because it's so damn BEAUTIFUL! I got to stage 2 on hard before giving up on Ringo's 2nd to last card. The stress wasn't worth it lol. I'm not even that good at Danmaku, I just like the small challenges and accomplishments of clearing a stage with no bombs or misses on hard difficulty. But this is what makes 2hu stand out, the aesthetic is incredible and the SFX of bullets and grazing, even down to the audio cue of low enemy health!
Lol K, when ZUN make an easy game, you probably would say "It's a shame that this game is so easy."

I think many of the LoLK cast were hiding their real powerlevel, Ringo wasnt required to win, Seija just wanted to test the protagonists and Junko was already getting bored.

I just realised that Touhou is actually a really short game, it's just it's long because you have to practice until you finish all the bosses.
Congrats man! I couldn't even come close to imagining doing this myself, at least not right now haha. LoLK is a beast. If the game is anything like the demo HSiFS won't be too bad in terms of difficulty, but that's not saying much.

This low-key makes me think about turning my imaginary RPG game into a danmaku..
I like how Stage 1 and 2 are much harder than Normal and then ZUN got drunk and just took all the rest of the Lunatic stages, made the bullets 10% slower and 10% less, and used them for Normal.
