- This is the easiest way to culture daphnia!
As a fish breeder, we need live food for our fishes in order for them to grow quickly.
We also need live foods to feed our breeders for conditioning.
In this video, I will show you the way I culture these daphnia magna without any cost.

Great idea! I have a razorback turtle that creates a lot of poo lol... i have 2 algae bins with pondwater outside 👌 - i'll clean his filter (and mess from tank) into those bins from now on! Thanks alot for this awesome tip! 👍

@@Weedss74 I have a 125 gallon square tub that I grow daphnia. It sit in the garden all year round and they keep going. Winter they slow down and come spring , thousands of them.....

Ive tried this method, but the mosquitoes keep on laying their eggss, so now the mosquito larvaes are conquering the culture 😭
Feed the larvae to your bettas as well 👍
And last week my father was affected by dengue fever, so i decided to throw them all 😭, but my father's blood platelets already back to normal now... So hes okay

Do you do water changes on the daphnia?
You can also use chicken manure just be careful not to add too much. This turns the water really green in a very short time - thus plenty of food for the daphnia.
How can you regulate the temperature outside, so it doesn't too hot or cold? I live in the desert in the United States, and the temperatures in the summer time can get to over 100F or 37C. In the winter time, the temperature can go as far down as 50F or 10C.
@@MaicoMoon unfortunately I haven’t a clue how you could do this. Maybe if you had a shed/shack or a garage you could look around to purchase a used commercial type fridge and set a culture up inside this? In your situation I would simple rely on frozen foods such as frozen daphnia, mosquito lava etc.
how much do i add & how often if I'm using a 5-10 gallon bucket?
@@callmemaddy buy the chicken manure pellets that are sold for gardens and try about one quarter of a tea cup to the water. You’ll just have to experiment to see what works in your situation.

i am betta breeder from Malaysia and i also culture daphnia magna and moina macropopa..and daphnia magna really good at boosting the betta size and mental..u also can use yeast to feed daphnia magna..feed with yeast 3times in a week..

I used to buy tubifex worms in fish market (Bangkok, Thailand). Tubifex there was very clean.

Thank you for this vdo. Enjoyed it and will try your method to culture my own daphnia for my fish. Also noticed lots of mosquito larvae. It's very dangerous and a major offence against our laws, and could ended with heavy fines and jailed. Advice to use a proper netting cover. What's your advice?

hello i work at a company that makes powdered foods like powered carrots, powdered broccoli, powdered avocado and anything you can think of. would these be a good food for the daphnia? what would be the ideal powdered food to mix with the flour?

Yes, daphnia magna is the best food as it has 80% protein, only problem is that newborn fry cant eat it, so for newborn fry, after 5 days you can give them moina

use a heater and use an aquarium chiller
I tried to keep some in my pond once and they got too cold in winter, but maybe if I keep them on my porch, or in deeper water? 🤔

There are meds in pet stores that you can try.

Or you can do daily 100% water change to your betta. Add dried almond leaves and rock salt
@@6maquariumfish thanks for your advise and for responding! Just realised the holes are not HITH, cause this one is Pearl colour (light pinkish white) and its sensory pits are more obvious than others 😅 The holes on its face looked like a parasite issue

You need to make sure the temperature and water conditions (pH) are consistent. Feed them as soon as their sacs run out and remove the mother after breeding.
