I really like the way Trevor responded to this, it seems very in character for him. I'm certain he loved Michael's family as if they were his own, but he's literally the last person you'd want to console you over a late family member. You can tell he's struggling to come up with words.
Trevor is very emotional over brad and he himself complained “No one gives a f about me!” So no, trevor’s sense of empathy and attachment is so powerful it is part of his insanity. The real reason for his attitude here is, Trevor dislikes Jimmy for his treatment of Michael when he was alive

I see that many people in the comments say that Jimmy never appreciated his dad and that is KINDA true but: By going on in the story we can see a pattern, everyone in Michael's family calls him a murder, a psychopath, basically someone who isn't that much sane. As much Jimmy shit talks his father saying that he doesn't love him and that he hates his whole family, maybe it isn't that far from the truth, we can see in the mission Daddy's Little Girl that when Jimmy doesn't want to get up the bed to go with his father, Michael prooceds to gently smash the TV without thinking the consequences. We can all agree Michael isn't the most mentally stable person in the world and I mean, he went trough everything, having kids with a Stripper, plotting to kill his buddies because of it, escaping to a new life and leaving everything behind, faking your own death and starting over with a fake identity and living in constant fear that the FIB could find out about the deal he made with Dave. And plus Michael became unloyal to his own wife after Amanda found him in bed with a Stripper, which is the reason why Amanda started fucking every single guy that entered her house. So yeah as much Michael seems to be hated by his family without much reason, there actually is one, and makes you rethink about everything, yes he tries to be nice with his family and keep his cool, but he hasn't changed, he is still the psychopath that brought Trevor into crime, the only reason he became more sane is because he became a father, since suddenly the "do whatever you want, no one can stop you or change your mind" wasn't a thing anymore, he had a family to protect and he couldn't risk to get them killed. But! At the end of the main story, things start to get better, let's remember that it was Jimmy the one that went to Michael after they went away to try and make things work out, and they started to appreciate him because he finally found something normal that didn't include killing people, movies, he became a producer and achieved his dream, and the family even accepts that they are all a bit crazy. Things work out so much that in option C, after they kill Devin, Michael not only doesn't smoke anymore, but literally says the HE IS OUT. The reason why there aren't no more heists, no more killing is because everything is over, everything has worked out perfectly and they managed to win against literally the world. I personally think Jimmy doesn't hate Michael at the end of the story, and finally realizes that he has changed, and for real this time. I hope this made things a bit more clear (also if we talk about how in Hangouts Jimmy still hates his father it is because it is scripted to happen, because those geniuses of Rockstar thought you would have did those Hangouts before the period when his family left him)
The reality was that his family hated the Michael that you see until Freefall, he was just a shell of himself trying to find peace over the many mistakes that he made in the past and try to find guilt in everything although he doesn’t regret nothing deep inside, then burst his anger on everything else. Trevor changed that and made the real Michael come back, the ruthless criminal that had no boundaries was awaken and accepted that he likes what he does and doesn’t feel ashamed about it, and his family notices that on Reuniting the Family in which Jimmy even says that Michael now is using his unstoppable anger for his family’s own good
I never understood Option B as a whole honestly, like it literally makes no fucking sense. Why would Franklin kill Michael? Michael took Franklin under his wing and got him out the hood which is something he dreamt of and meant everything, hence why Franklin offered to help Michael out with his FIB problems because Michael stuck his neck out for him and got him a place in their first score despite Franklin never having done a heist before, and after that because of Michael Franklin went onto earn millions. Not to mention Franklin knew Michael’s family somewhat, you could say Franklin is bit of a sociopath but he definitely ain’t heartless. That and he’d kill his mentor and friend for a guy that doesn’t even pay him for jobs. I can maaayyybe see Option A but Option B never made sense to me, and Option C is the real ending that makes the most sense.
The real reason why he would kill Michael because he is afraid that Michael will do the same to Franklin just like what Michael did to Brad and Trevor from Prologue. Franklin thought, he will get betrayed by Michael eventually because he has a family to take care of, and he would kill Michael to save his own skin. Yeah, I agree, Option C is still the best ending.
I see option b as more of a comeuppance for Michael. Its Franklin showing Michael what he did to Trevor. Because while yes, in some ways, Michael does help Franklin, he kinda just uses him just as much, he pretty much puts hims through several dangerous missions for the FIB, and eventually with Devin Weston. Im fact, during the Devin Westin missions, he begins to realize that after all that, Michael kinda led him full circle, stealing cars for some guy above him. The cynical view of GTA is that theres always some one kinda manipulating and using the person below them, like Michael did to Franklin, like Devin does to Michael. Ending B is meant to be symbolic of some Sort of victory, tearing down the person above him in the same way he has done to others, but overall, its still unsatisfying because he is still in that cycle. The best way Ive seen the endings interpreted is that its choosing what ending Franklin learns. Option A is taking completely after Michael. Killing Trevor, despite how bad he is, is pretty cold. As he says, you quite literally betray him just like Michael. You used him and then attempt to dispose of him after. He becomes hollowed out just like Michael. Option B is similar to A, but in this, its more Franklin teaching Michael a lesson, doing to him what he tried to do with Trevor, while sticking with his real friends, calling Lamar right after, but still become just Michael, even using the same line as him. And Deathwish is obviously the best, as its more taking a page from Trevor, and sticking with all your friends. And I think all these ending make sense because of this
Despite Jimmy knows Trevor is innocent and was not involved in the death of Michael, he still refuses to hang out with him and also Lamar won't hang out with Trevor either. Even though Trevor wanted Michael dead following Bury the Hatchet, Franklin did it for him but Trevor isn't happy and is angry at him because he became a traitor to Michael so he refused to help him. On the other hand, Jimmy is not happy with Michael for the death of Trevor but Franklin was involved too however Jimmy believes that gangster is innocent due to not knowing if he was involved or not while he considers his dad guilty for killing Uncle T and therefore Jimmy hangs out with Franklin, not with his dad. Option A does make sense due to how evil and dangerous Trevor was and a very toxic criminal he ever was so Franklin and Michael worked together as a team to finish him off which he truly deserved it and they can still hang out with each other. Option B is pointless and is a waste of time because Michael is the main character of the game and most of the story of GTA V is focused on him more than on Franklin and Trevor and so his death is even like it should never had happened due to the fact if Franklin chooses to save him, Michael will headbutt him so he himself can finally fall down to die in peace. When Michael came to meet him, he was not being bad but very nice to him as he tells him that Tracey is going to college but Franklin chooses to kill him. Option C is the true ending to kill all the bad guys behind our backs and there is an official poster of this ending option thus proving this ending is canon and the game trailers featured a lot of scenes from this ending more than from ending A and B.
Why is Michael is the main character, but not Franklin? Sure, he caused a lot of important things to happen, but when a villain curses a village and the hero needs to figure out a way to do it, the hero is the main character and not the villain

Trevor does not know how to handle the situation. I can’t really blame how cold he is. He never lived a easy life or had a family other than Michael’s. His father abandoned him, his brother ran off, and his mother abused him. He while he obviously no longer cared about Michael by the end, he didn’t exactly want to kill him either. Because of how he was his first friend and he had a family that was starting to repair, and a happy, peaceful life that was beginning. He just didn’t want anything to do with him other than the promised heist to make up for the Merryweather Train Robbery. Even then, Trevor only tells him that they are no longer at conflict. He only forgives Michael after the story is complete where he finally apologizes if you choose to hang out with him. Besides that, if Option B is chosen, Trevor doesn’t want to take part in Michael’s death because he realizes that the cycle has repeated with Franklin taking Michael’s place. He hates Franklin for taking Michael away from his family, not because he actually cared about him. Not only that but Franklin also makes it to where nobody wants to hang around Trevor because they think he was involved, and those who know he wasn’t don’t have the option to hang out with as Trevor. But back to this video, Trevor clearly is sorry for Jimmy losing his dad but doesn’t know how to comfort him either other than “send my best to your mother” because Jimmy and Michael had a poor relationship the entire game, and Jimmy looks up to Trevor as a uncle.
It’s even sadder if as you played as Michael and hung out with his family and saw just how hateful and unappreciative they are towards him only to then care when he is dead.
I know Jimmy was an asshole, but so was Michael because that entire family was broken, I feel like people aren’t giving Jimmy enough credit. I think you can see that Jimmy did care, otherwise he wouldn’t criticize Michael or cry when they fought after Michael destroyed his TV. But especially at the end you can see that their broken family started to heal a little. I mean yeah, they were still all weird as hell but like, they started working as a family. So I think it’s more than understandable for Jimmy to still care about losing his father. He basically got all of that ripped away from him right as life just seemed to get start getting better. And I’m sure on top of that he also feels guilty for all the time they spent fighting, even if everyone was a little at fault for that

I never understood Option B as a whole honestly, like it literally makes no fucking sense. Why would Franklin kill Michael? Michael took Franklin under his wing and got him out the hood which is something he dreamt of and meant everything, hence why Franklin offered to help Michael out with his FIB problems because Michael stuck his neck out for him and got him a place in their first score despite Franklin never having done a heist before, and after that because of Michael Franklin went onto earn millions. Not to mention Franklin knew Michael’s family somewhat, you could say Franklin is bit of a sociopath but he definitely ain’t heartless. That and he’d kill his mentor and friend for a guy that doesn’t even pay him for jobs. I can maaayyybe see Option A but Option B never made sense to me, and Option C is the real ending that makes the most sense.
The real reason why he would kill Michael because he is afraid that Michael will do the same to Franklin just like what Michael did to Brad and Trevor from Prologue. Franklin thought, he will get betrayed by Michael eventually because he has a family to take care of, and he would kill Michael to save his own skin. Yeah, I agree, Option C is still the best ending.

I see option b as more of a comeuppance for Michael. Its Franklin showing Michael what he did to Trevor. Because while yes, in some ways, Michael does help Franklin, he kinda just uses him just as much, he pretty much puts hims through several dangerous missions for the FIB, and eventually with Devin Weston. Im fact, during the Devin Westin missions, he begins to realize that after all that, Michael kinda led him full circle, stealing cars for some guy above him. The cynical view of GTA is that theres always some one kinda manipulating and using the person below them, like Michael did to Franklin, like Devin does to Michael. Ending B is meant to be symbolic of some
Sort of victory, tearing down the person above him in the same way he has done to others, but overall, its still unsatisfying because he is still in that cycle. The best way Ive seen the endings interpreted is that its choosing what ending Franklin learns. Option A is taking completely after Michael. Killing Trevor, despite how bad he is, is pretty cold. As he says, you quite literally betray him just like Michael. You used him and then attempt to dispose of him after. He becomes hollowed out just like Michael. Option B is similar to A, but in this, its more Franklin teaching Michael a lesson, doing to him what he tried to do with Trevor, while sticking with his real friends, calling Lamar right after, but still become just Michael, even using the same line as him. And Deathwish is obviously the best, as its more taking a page from Trevor, and sticking with all your friends. And I think all these ending make sense because of this

The very first time I played the game I killed Trevor 🤣
Despite Jimmy knows Trevor is innocent and was not involved in the death of Michael, he still refuses to hang out with him and also Lamar won't hang out with Trevor either.
Even though Trevor wanted Michael dead following Bury the Hatchet, Franklin did it for him but Trevor isn't happy and is angry at him because he became a traitor to Michael so he refused to help him.
On the other hand, Jimmy is not happy with Michael for the death of Trevor but Franklin was involved too however Jimmy believes that gangster is innocent due to not knowing if he was involved or not while he considers his dad guilty for killing Uncle T and therefore Jimmy hangs out with Franklin, not with his dad.
Option A does make sense due to how evil and dangerous Trevor was and a very toxic criminal he ever was so Franklin and Michael worked together as a team to finish him off which he truly deserved it and they can still hang out with each other.
Option B is pointless and is a waste of time because Michael is the main character of the game and most of the story of GTA V is focused on him more than on Franklin and Trevor and so his death is even like it should never had happened due to the fact if Franklin chooses to save him, Michael will headbutt him so he himself can finally fall down to die in peace. When Michael came to meet him, he was not being bad but very nice to him as he tells him that Tracey is going to college but Franklin chooses to kill him.
Option C is the true ending to kill all the bad guys behind our backs and there is an official poster of this ending option thus proving this ending is canon and the game trailers featured a lot of scenes from this ending more than from ending A and B.
Why is Michael is the main character, but not Franklin? Sure, he caused a lot of important things to happen, but when a villain curses a village and the hero needs to figure out a way to do it, the hero is the main character and not the villain
Ironically, I would say that despite Trevor being a psyco criminal Michael is the real "toxic" criminal because he got his friends killed and almost killed Trevor in his criminal life just because he wanted to escape with his family and still live toxic
This is the reason why Michael is my least favorite protagonist also because Trevor would never betray his friends and he's everything a gta protagonist is with sometimes a sensitive side

And finally. Michael said a lot of times that it wasnt a real choice to escape to Los Santos. Trevor would lead to the death of his family

Trevor does not know how to handle the situation. I can’t really blame how cold he is. He never lived a easy life or had a family other than Michael’s. His father abandoned him, his brother ran off, and his mother abused him. He while he obviously no longer cared about Michael by the end, he didn’t exactly want to kill him either. Because of how he was his first friend and he had a family that was starting to repair, and a happy, peaceful life that was beginning. He just didn’t want anything to do with him other than the promised heist to make up for the Merryweather Train Robbery. Even then, Trevor only tells him that they are no longer at conflict. He only forgives Michael after the story is complete where he finally apologizes if you choose to hang out with him. Besides that, if Option B is chosen, Trevor doesn’t want to take part in Michael’s death because he realizes that the cycle has repeated with Franklin taking Michael’s place. He hates Franklin for taking Michael away from his family, not because he actually cared about him. Not only that but Franklin also makes it to where nobody wants to hang around Trevor because they think he was involved, and those who know he wasn’t don’t have the option to hang out with as Trevor. But back to this video, Trevor clearly is sorry for Jimmy losing his dad but doesn’t know how to comfort him either other than “send my best to your mother” because Jimmy and Michael had a poor relationship the entire game, and Jimmy looks up to Trevor as a uncle.
Trevor’s mind: basically one more of the many important people to me is dead now.

I know Jimmy was an asshole, but so was Michael because that entire family was broken, I feel like people aren’t giving Jimmy enough credit. I think you can see that Jimmy did care, otherwise he wouldn’t criticize Michael or cry when they fought after Michael destroyed his TV. But especially at the end you can see that their broken family started to heal a little. I mean yeah, they were still all weird as hell but like, they started working as a family. So I think it’s more than understandable for Jimmy to still care about losing his father. He basically got all of that ripped away from him right as life just seemed to get start getting better. And I’m sure on top of that he also feels guilty for all the time they spent fighting, even if everyone was a little at fault for that

Trevor being cold with him makes sense, he saw how Jimmy treated Michael like dirt when he was around, and now that he’s dead Jimmy wants to feel remorseful when Trevor sees it has a brutal lesson to never take anyone for granted
