  • What would you say if you had one minute to speak to the world?
Facing eviction, a debt-ridden young woman takes part in a mysterious social study for money. However, in order to receive the cash she must speak live to the entire world for one minute.
Speak for Herself was commissioned as part of BBC New Creatives, a talent development scheme supported by Arts Council England and BBC Arts, delivered in the South East by Screen South.

Hi all, it's Nick here! It's been a while since I've uploaded here but I am super excited to be sharing my debut short film with you, Speak for Herself! I'm sure you can tell but Netflix/Channel 4's hit dystopian anthology series Black Mirror was a big inspiration for me when writing the script back in 2020. And in celebration of Black Mirror season 6 releasing today, I thought there was no better time to share the film here on TH-cam.
This short film was a real labour of love from all the cast and crew, I am so grateful to have had such an amazing team around me. Particularly as I was only 18 when I started this journey over 3 years ago now!
I really hope you enjoy the film! It would mean so much if you could share it too. If you have questions about making the film or any comments/observations then please do leave them in the comments below!
    Thanks so much,
    Nick

Very nice shot!!! I really like the style of how you shot it, it kinda feels like black mirror to be honest; the sounds effects. The dystopian feeling.
I red from a psychologist today there is somehow more a feeling of “watching our life” and not “feel like a true protagonist, instead see the life run by itself (meaning I have no true power of action over it)”.
That’s why we need something big, something who can help people wake up and start feeling again like they are the protagonist. I feel like this problem wasn’t existing 20/30/40 years ago, and if there was, it was called “depression”. Dunno. Anyway.
    Great work!!!!
