Well i think all suggested strategies for IELTS depending on to what extent you are familiar with the topic. if it is in your subject then you do it comfortably and even shorter than the suggested time. its also depends on your vocabulary's bank and vice versa.
That's absolutely true. Whenever my students feel confident about the topic (for example a medical topic for doctor candidates) they rarely make mistakes and they answer very quickly. These techniques come in handy when the topic is not your cup of tea. Thnks for watching! Good luck with your exam!

Also, I have encountered in reading that there are answers which I have to make up myself from the passage. So, I mean that if I found the answer it may not be in correct shape. For example. in Cambridge 1 (Practice Test 4, Passage 3) I answered "extinct" but the answer is "could become extinct" I was not able to find "could become extinct" in the passage. It seems like I had to guess.
I recommend doing the list of headings first (or any other task that you find difficult) but only if you keep track of time. There's the danger of wasting a lot of time in a task and then not having enough for the easier parts. Some students start with the easier ones just to get them out of the way and then focus on more difficult tasks. This is something you need to decide for yourself. Whatever you do, pay attention to the time because this is the main problem in reading. As for your second question, this takes place if you need to fill in gaps in sentences. If this is the case, then your answer should be grammatically and syntactically relevant to the rest of the sentence. or example, if you need to write "could become" before extinct, this means that a verb is needed in order for the rest of the sentence to make sense. Rather they were thinking it as new opportunity. In that case Dori, can't we assume the title could be (no. 4) 'thinking about new opportunities'? Really confused.
Hey there! This is exactly what they do in order to confuse you. A part of the heading is very true to the paragraph while the other part not so much but students tend to ignore this because they see something that fits and it is enough for them. However, What about the "new way of thinking" part? Where does it say in the paragraph CLEARLY that there is a new way of thinking going on? What is this way of thinking? If you just assume it, then this is not the heading you need to choose. The heading should be the main theme of the paragraph as a WHOLE--not just part of it. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Hi Dori, How does one figure out where to stop in the beginning lines and where to begin-and-end from towards the end of the paragraph? should it be sentence wise or randomly reading 1st 2 lines and last few lines. How to assess, till where should one read ?
