Yeh. I grew up to this kind of old radio and still love them. ALSO, love those giant, aircraft carrier tube (even the transistors) console record player/radios ... NOTHING touches them for sweet musical warmth, and that, from a guitarist of 62+ years with some audio engineering experience in a 16-track MCI equipped recording studio.
I grew up speaking "mountain talk" with words like "hit" for "it", "warp ye head off" and a paper bag was called a "poke" so I do understand. I moved to Honolulu and nobody understood me. And when I go back to visit family my old way of speaking returns.
i file down the the fat prong on a polarized plug so you can use it as a nonpolarized plug so then you dont have to worry about soldering it the wrong way.
There's no need to guess and trace out the circuit to know which side of the volume control is which, it's always the same physical location. If you're looking at the front of the control with the connections facing down then the top is on the right and the bottom is on the left.
Its radium. But I've used a Geiger counter to measure and its a VERY low level. As in- you have to put the counter right next to the face to get anything at all. By the 50's they had really cut down the amount of radium used on clock hands. If you see clock hands from 1920's clocks with radium usually the large amounts of radium used will have actually caused the paint to deteriorate.
Zenith model G516 from 1950. Yes adding Bluetooth makes these kind of radios more useful in the modern era. You get
to listen to what you want.

You just mentioned the moth , then the radio plays "Glow Worm". Feed the moth Uranium instead of wool.
What did you do to get those brass dial rings to look so good?
Are the numbers and dial painted with phosphor and radioactive paint?
