My grandfather owned a Rexall drug store in a small Tennessee town from the mid 40's through the mid 70's. It had a soda fountain and I used to spend summers there starting around 1965 bugging the staff and as I got older actually working at the store, making deliveries, scooping ice cream, making milk shakes and ice cream sodas. Times were so simple then.
A good pharmacist is hard to find Molly is rare. My pharmacist just passed away 😢 I had him as a pharmacist since I was a teenager, I was in a bad car wreck at the age of 17 & had an aortic dissection which required heparin blood thinner once I was home from the hospital no pharmacy could find that medicine for me, but Mark drove 2 hours away to get me what I needed and I'll forever be thankful for that.
@@sandradummer4726 Yes, it was so nice of him. I never forgot him doing that for me. I've lived my life ever since helping other's when I can. If I can make one person smile a day....... I'm happy 😊
I remember eating food at a drug store when I was growing up. And it was absolutely delicious. I miss it alot. I want to thank everyone for all of your hard work and dedication. Also Thank you John for everything you do. Enjoy your day and take care
I remember eating at our local drugstore ( Read’s), which had a mini restaurant. My grandfather would take me and get a cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate milkshake ( was soooo good!). I remember it was a bar, with seats that would spin. Thank you for taking me down memory lane!
THIS IS SUCH A FANTASTIC VIDEO. My mother worked in this kind of DRUG STORE , for 60 yrs. She raised 4 kids on her salary. I am 80 yrs old now. MY MOTHER AND 3 brothers & sister are all dead now. I remember getting to helpdust tge selves, after school. I would sure hate to do the do the YEARLY INVENTORY. WOW! What memories this bring back to me. THANKS SO MUCH‼️🤗🫶

Great video! Driven by Hoskins a hundred times since we moved to this area, and have never stopped in. Definitely going to stop in the next time we're in Clinton!
I have geat memories at Hoskins from childhood. My mamaw, Ruby Clark, was a cook there for years! We'd come see her and she'd grill me a ham and cheese sandwich; that was over 30yrs ago.
I've been to your channel before and have been captivated by the nostalgia and love for those days gone by. Today's viewing was no different and I found myself getting a little misty eyed hearing you talk with the people in the drugstore. These people of Clinton TN are the bread and butter of these UNITED STATES! The love and friendship and genuine sweet nature shone through every moment. I cannot wait to visit this area to get my own Hoskins Original Burger with the "pimenta cheese"!! ( And then I'll be back in the mornin for Breakfast!!)
This brings back such good memories! I'm from Jonesboro, Ark. and we had our City Drug, which was practically like the one you're featuring in this video! I can remember as a little girl in the early 70's going with my mother to City Drug and ordering the cheeseburger special and strawberry milk shakes. Thank you for sharing this video! 😊
Enjoyed this more than I can say.Reminds me of visiting Grandparents in rural Virgina as a youngster. Currently have family in Cleveland Tn. Peace be with you and yours. Grandma Great Grandma H age 83🥰
Anderson County has city of Clinton holds the County Seat and same families for generations are inner community. Oak Ridge has a diverse range to the entire community.
Love this SO much. Reminds me of our Atwood’s Drugstore, Pharmacy and Soda Fountain I grew up with in Carbondale, Illinois. Rosie was my favorite waitress and my order was ALWAYS the same: a cheese salad (pimento) sandwich and a Coke!!!❤
AFTER SCHOOL WGERE MY MOTHER WORKED , sometimes I got to help stick the candy , and dust some selves, and my favorite , straighten up the envelopes in back of greeting cards. WHAT GREAY MEMORIES❤😮
Looks like you just put another place on my list to visit. Keep it up and I'm going to need a month to hit them all. Hope to get to Gatlinburg this summer and go to Bush Beans.
Love these old family business' and buildings. So cool looking back at the pictures and people in them at the end of the video. You do such a good job of featuring the people in their natural setting. Love the channel and appreciate what you do. God bless
My adopted mother was a cook for Hoskins for several years. Her name was Appie Vowell (from Lake City) back then. She would go across the street to the old Standard Knitting Mill and take lunch orders from the workers then go back and fix their orders and deliver them back to them at lunch time. She also was a "quantity cooking trainer" for the old Scottish Inn up near the bridge where Burger King sits now. When she wasn't there she travelled to other locations to train the cooks. Before she retired she ended up working at Chapman's Restaurant in Lake City. When she was at Hoskins she spoke fondly of Molly and her sisters. She said she had done some babysitting for the Hoskins. Molly was very young but her sister Sheri remembered Miss Appie when I met her years ago when she worked at the Recreation Center. I'd love to hear any stories about Mom (Appie) if there is anyone out there that remembers her.
