It isn't actually 3D. It is basically a clear projector screen with 4 separate 2D images.
Yup. Calling it a hologram is a stretch at best.
By that logic any 3d image isnt actually 3d
It isn't 3D. 3D means it exists in 3 dimensions. up/down, left/right AND forwards/backwards. This does not give it depth, the forwards and backwards part.
It is the same thing as holding up a picture with a clear background. That is just up/down and left/right. There is no depth.
When you spin it to see the other image you aren't seeing depth, you are seeing another 2D image on another flat piece of plastic. Hence why you can view the corner and 2 single 2D images.

i bought plexiglass to make one big enough to use on a TV...sadly my utility knife wasn't sharp enough and it broke the wrong way

Each panel bends the projected image inward. Where the light protons of the 4 images cross each others path they glow brighter giving you an actual 3D floating image

I used the box of some headphones, then my father liked the idea so much that he made one that works with a TV for an exhibition. that one was glass and metal, and looked really cool

+Cino from 93 cut out four triangles, with the tops cut off, i used an exacto knife to cut. Then place them all together and glue/tape the sides up, then youre good.

+Limren There are enough tutorials on TH-cam. Just search for it.
If you're viewing from 1 side only, you don't really need the other 3 mirrored images. I've tested it by covering the other 3 images with black paper, and it didn't make a difference. The 4 mirrored images is useful if you take the phone and rotate it around horizontally, giving a consistent image from all 4 sides, giving the illusion that it's a legit 3D stuff floating on air.

you can use the transparent plastic that comes in almost every toy box ever, it's easier
U made my own from old CD cases. Works great! It's the reflection that does it :) works even with 1 side, if you hold it in the correct position

Its just a 2D reflection of the video beneath it.. just like we get if we use a mirror instead.. but the transparent plastic is the main thing bcz of which we can see through it and that makes us feel its a hologram but its not.. its an illusion
I mean you don't have to buy this. I made one of these at home almost a year ago and took it to school and became the coolest kid for a while. it's simple to make, and it's the same exact build/design to this. Actually one of the easiest things to make at home
You can literally make this at home with glass. Just cut some glass (or plastic or whatever) into equal triangular shapes like the ones in the product and tape/glue them together. Simple. I made one like that, didn't look the best but, hey, it worked.

Step 1: clean cd and leave clear plastic
Step 2: measure 90 degrees (must be perfect square where it touches the screen)
Step : glue the disc edges together
Step 3: glue edges together

It's not 4 images put into one, it is only 1 image put into one. Each image is only a reflection of whats being shown on the screen. It has 4 images so you can see it on either side of the hologram.
