@rebekahmaciorowski , do you know Brandon Mitchell, aka Ukraine tbic? He may be able to help you when he lands back in Ukraine. He has done a mountain of work for Ukraine, is a combat medic. I know he knows a Rebecca that is in Ukraine, I don't know if that's you or not. Brandon should be back in Ukraine fairly soon.

When Rebekah says this stuff saves lives, it 100% does - and she's also right that it needs to be the GENUINE product and not a cheaper clone or copy.
For tourniquets especially, the reason is because the fastener can break while you're tightening it. This happens with lesser quality items. It's also important that EVERY soldier should be equipped because last week I saw a video where a Ukrainian medic had to use multiple tourniquets on a single patient. They need to be readily available.
Another recorded incident showed a soldier hit in the wrist/arm during a trench assault and within a few second his ENTIRE hand was covered bright red - I didn't even know it was possible to bleed that fast! He was able to run back through the trench getting his tourniquet out and someone stopped to apply that for him immediately. This probably saved his life. A $30-40 tourniquet. Such cheap insurance for a 22 year old's life to be saved!

    • @berryreading4809
      @berryreading4809 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Spot on about the clones and copies! The problem is people flooding the market with fake CAT tourniquets that look real unless inspected closely, or you handled real ones enough to know the difference, or have the knowledge about the fakes and check before carrying it... Otherwise you may only find out when the windlass snaps after 1½ turns as you or another person bleed out so a piece of trash human/company could make a quick buck... I've seen enough forgeries in the US to know Ukraine must be full of them, whether bought/sold by accident or intentionally to save money they are a huge liability for people that have limited information on the subject. I really hope all the Chinese factories making these fake TCCC medical supplies burn down... It's worse than selling fire extinguishers filled with gasoline! 😠 Atleast with these kits there is an expert packing and sorting out any trash products, I'm sure many other volunteers and soldiers putting together IFAKS just don't know what they don't know... 😔 Atleast videos like this will help if enough people watch... The market is still short on quickclot combat guaze from what I've seen, both regular and z-fold so I'm sure chinese copies of that will become very common soon enough. 😠

Rare are the actions that are nothing but pure good. I hope Rebekah is rewarded with happiness without bounds, because as Aristotle said, Happiness is action that conforms to Virtue. War shows us the worst and the best in humanity, and here we are witnessing the very best.

I just found your channel through a Brandon Mitchell video on July 3rd. I have been following him for awhile. I am just a civilian. The only thing I'm really good at is being around water. There is a lot of water in Ukraine. Rivers/ lakes/ dams they have it all. I am a very old swim coach. Learning how to swim is one thing. Knowing you're not going drained is a whole line of thought. Way before any kind of military training around water, having the ability not to panic in & around is important.
Just taking water in your mouth & learning to spit it out is dumb but simple. Learning how to breath in a shower with your mouth open & not choking is simple. Learning how to breath out of the corners of mouth before going under is simple. Doing these things before you need them is the hard part.
I grew in the YMCA system in NYS. I swam on the Canadian shore of the Niagara River (very fast moving water). I was a river rafting guide on the Shenandoah river for 3 yrs. No one expects water until it's on you. Sometimes going with the flow of a flood or rapid moving water is not easy. TY for your time & service -- More Resume - (I do work in a hospital on 3rd shift since '03) A lot of children die in the States because they can't survive the water, swimming has very little to do with it.

Thank you very much for this great video.
I've been looking for a video like this for a long time.
I am also a volunteer in Ukraine
and have plenty of paramedic gear.
I myself did my medical training from 1995 in the military, which is of course very outdated and does not fit 100% into today's times.
I had to learn how to use a tourneque properly, what is a good one and what is a cheap one.
    Since I don't have a currently valid training as a paramedic, I can't make a video myself.
Since I still want to help, with my limited skills, I'm glad that there are people like you who show what's important.
Unfortunately I don't have enough money (without donations) to be there permanently,
because my family has to be taken care of at home.
That's why I make sure that the things I finance privately really do what they're supposed to do.
    So good quality.
If I had the right financial backing, I would stay there longer to help.
It is currently limited to driving donation trips to the Ukraine from Germany and Poland.
But I would also like to lend a hand on site.
But as I said, I'm not alone at home.
    ******QUESTIONS*******
May I ask how you do it in action?
    Do you have family?
    A house? obligations?
Or is your assignment "there" the only one, i.e. no distractions from home?
Do you finance your equipment privately like me, or through donations?
Do you have full paramedic training, or did you gradually acquire it yourself?
Are you traveling with a doctor, or alone and on your own responsibility?
    And how about languages.
Do you only speak English, or also local languages?
Do you have any advice on how to help BETTER and MORE EFFECTIVELY as a local volunteer?
Do you have to be perfectly trained?
So having knowledge of a doctor and surgeon, or is it enough to have basic knowledge and to be able to fully immerse yourself in discipline?
    How is your self-sufficiency?
    What is your accommodation like?
Are you alone or in a team?
    How big is your gear?
How do you take care of the equipment?
Is a fixed standard important, or do you also improvise?
(I personally had to use duct tape to connect and make a stretcher out of a tarpaulin)
    ******THANKS******
Thank you for making the video.
I look forward to more posts about this.
I too want to pass on the maximum amount of help, bring more benefit than harm.
Thank you for the courage you gave
since I am currently threatening to despair that so few people are willing to help.
Sorry if I asked so many questions, I hope you don't mind.
    Sincerely Michael.

Many good questions! Hopefully answers will come over time. One thing I can tell you is that Rebekah is a nurse, RN. I believe I heard Brandon say that in the past. It may be on one of his videos where he and she were helping to train some soldiers on first-aid and medical procedures. Have you seen those videos? If not, check out Brandon Mitchell‘s videos posted sometime in the spring of 2023, from the time before he had to leave Ukraine. I believe Rebekah is completely funded by donations.

"Unfortunately" I only started training as a paramedic, not as a full paramedic
I help where I can and would like to do more.
Unfortunately, I don't have a supportive community behind me that supports me financially.
That's why it's so important that there is BRANDON and REBEKAH, who have all this backing.
Hope your supporters stay with the great team for a long time,
that they can continue to help.
I personally hope that my little help will still be successful and give hope to one or the other.
      Thanks
      Sincerely
      Michael.

the video is the list XD I put below but I'm not an expert, might have misheard some of it (to be safe, just send her $ and she can buy what she needs unless you have special connections?):
      CAT tourniquet
sharpie (to write on the tourniquet at what time it was applied)
      scissors to cut through clothes/gear
      burn dressing (burn shield)
chest seals - front and back (hyfin)
      needle decompression
nasopharyngeal airway with the lube taped to it
combat gauze vacuum sealed hemostatic dressing
regular compressed gauze - north american rescue
      1 packet of simple gauze
pressure bandage - 6 inch (first time medical?)
      gloves
      hand cleaner
      tightly packed thermal blankets
      tape
      acetamol

I noticed you didn't have a BVM in there, probably due to size and cost. Do you run into many situations that this would have been helpful? Also, imagine it would be tough to train soldiers how to properly use it. Keep kicking butt over there and be safe!

    1. Her paypal account is listed when you click on "About" after you click on her name under the title of the video. YT won't post this comment if I include her paypal account name here, even after 'masking' it with asterisks, etc; I've tried repeatedly.
(Obviously, we can help her out by donating. Some comment suggested that maybe she didn't want to fundraise, which is why I post such an 'obvious' statement here.)
    2. She really should put her paypal info in the 'Show more' section with each video and also post it as a 'pinned comment' with each video. It would help raise more funds if she included it in the video itself, as well.
    3. I've just donated to her paypal account. If enough people donate even a little bit each, we can actually help save lives.
Thanks for your work, Rebekah. You are a real-life hero! (But, your fundraising-publicity skill could use a little work. Ask Brandon. He's raised a lot for radios, scopes, medical equipment, etc. He knows how to do it.)

Does the quality of medical supplies vary across units? Do some people get the cheap eBay quality while others get cotccc approved gear because of funding?

You skipped the dry burn/ triangle bandage and the usual 5x9 gauze. Do the burn dressings replace both? it's funny you said fuck the gauze except for the compression bandage. I would hate to hear what you thought about the swat tourniquets and duct tape I like to stick in packs. Good work you are doing.

I don’t have a go pro, and i have to keep the safety and privacy of the soldiers in mind as I work so although the content would be interesting, it’s not worth putting peoples lives at risk.

Who are you? Your videos pop up on my feed with little explanation. Are you in Ukraine?

    • @salyluz6535
      @salyluz6535 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Yes, Rebekah is a US citizen who volunteered in Ukraine at the beginning of the full scale invasion, when the Ukrainian government appealed for help from medical professionals. She has taught people to become medics, has taught soldiers first aid, and did rotations with Ukrainian Hospitallers Medical battalion. If you follow Brandon Mitchell, you may have seen her in some of his videos.
Now Rebekah stays near the front lines in Eastern Ukraine and helps the soldiers directly, instead of rotating with Hospitallers. Watch all her videos and shorts, & hopefully more will come soon!
