About the 5th project: I actually started my economics studies without caring too much about it. I was startled with history and I'd read history books every time I could (I didn't choose history as a career because in south america you can very hardly make a living out of it). Every since the middle of my career, when I started having a better understandment and increasing curiosity of my own career, I noticed what a different insight I could develop of the economical history and theory, because I already knew how said theories were contrasted with actual history. Unfortunately, it was also made very apparent that a lot of economist, even published and well-recognized authors, can shift historical discourse to their own fitting, and they allow the biases of our career to blind them from the complexity and richness of history, distorting it into something linear to take simple teaching out of.

It depends on the program, but usually they require at least calculus. Then it depends on how far you want to go. If you want to get a PhD, you're almost a math major. But calculus will cover most of your needs, and then usually programs will teach you the pieces of math you need (e.g. linear algebra).
