My Dutch Family's home ! They came from HOLLAND.. ON WHAT THEY CALLED ..."THE SAILING SHIP'S"! THEY WERE ESCAPING "RELIGOUS PERSECUTION"! IF THEY WERE CAUGHT WITH "THE PRODESTANT BIBLE,THEY WOULD BE IMPRISONED! OUR FAMILY HISTORY ,SAY'S " THE MOTHER, AFRAID OF BEING FOUND WITH THE BIBLE,SEWED THE PAGES INTO HER PETTICOAT'S FOR SAFE KEEPING. MY FAMILY WERE "DUTCH REFORMER'S:! THE VAN RYSWYK'S & VANderSYDE'S! THE NAME "PELLA" IS FROM THE BIBLE. IT MEANS "CITY OF REFUGE "!

You did a lovely video of Pella. It is a time capsule of the HOLLAND DUTCH 🇳🇱COMMING TO A NEW LAND. DID YOU SEE STRAWTOWN. THAT WAS WHERE THEY BEGAN. When my family.came it was also during an epidemic. Many died from Cholera. But because they were being persecuted by the Catholic's to join . They fled to preserve their belief's.One of the story's from their voyage is A one of our GRTS had a baby along on the sailing ⛵ They were down in the lower part of the ship. Each day the Captain would inspect the passengers to make sure no CHOLERA WAS SPREADING. Each morning he would ask about the baby? She kept him in a blanket in her arms. The captain would ask "& She would say is goOT! The baby died and she was so afraid they would "throw him to the Waves! That she kept him hidden. When they reached New York ,his father took him & buried him on land! Sorry ,but to me "PELLA" is so much more then TULIP'S & WINDMILL'S! 🌷🌷

When we toured the windmill they told us how they all had to walk from the Mississippi all wearing black in August. That would be enough to kill me! Those folks went through so much to be here and we're so courageous.
