Those crazy splits SGA does to decelerate look similar to the sliding technique used by tennis players like Djokovic to get out to a wide ball and rapidly recover to the centre of the court.
very true, i wonder if it will be more of an emphasis for iso scorers, kyrie also creates similar angles which make him extremely difficult to stay in front of when he decelerates. Yoga and mobility exercises are extremely important for almost every sport, not just lifting in the gym. It’s the reason why Wembanyama is an alien at his size, and helps him prevent injury.

What I’m getting from this is how much of a luxury it is to have an elite stretch big like Chet. Him being able to pop out to the three point line and dragging out the shot blocker helps SGA a ton
That’s why they went from a play in team to the number one seed in the west. Chet’s impact has been huge. That’s why I was pulling for him for ROTY because it’s not just empty stats. But Wemby is phenomenal too.

His 3 pt line jab step and mid dribble acceleration show he's a very deceptive player in an athletic, explosive, and flexible body. That's a deadly combination and makes for a unique superstar.

His ability to handle the ball with his left consistently and confidently also gives him a great advantage. No defender is expects him to drive past with his left. But he does
Amazing video. I have always yhought of PnR as a way to give the ball handler several passing options... although SGA of course does this sometimes with e.g. Chet, SGA seems to use the PnR as a way to get into isolation! Offensive tactics have improved so much
He's my MVP this year. Statistically excellent (points leader, steals leader. he's top 10 in defensive win shares + #1 in offensive win shares), best player on a top 5 team, essentially unstoppable in the regular season.
this is the kind of player that wins FMVPs. Multiple. Pure scoring taking advantage of all assets the team gives him. Winning basketball. I’m so sure the Thunder are getting to the WCF. It will be interesting to see who they match up against and overcome. They are so fun to watch
This guy has the smoothest game I’ve ever seen. Handles and finishing skills of Kyrie with the spacing and court manipulation skills of Harden. And yet the way he does it all feels so unique to himself.

I’m really curious if you timed the difference between the step back and the shot (for mid range not 3s) between Luka and SGA, what the comparison would be. SGA creates so much space that I see him pause a lot before actually shooting. Maybe it’s balance or maybe it’s just reading the game, I’m not saying Luka is better at it but I actually predict that their shot prob goes up around the same time after they initiate the cross.
I just find these two players rly interesting because even tho they look so much different, their games are actually pretty similar. Luka is just more fluid and SGA is more jerky and each have benefits.
I think what helps him be so “shifty” is how he almost always keeps his back straight when he drives instead of fully lowering his shoulder. His legs are doing the work while his upper body seems motionless
SGA is evidence of calipari developing guys into killers. A great prospect but at the bottom of the depth chart at the start of his freshman year.
