My dude seriously you have a great attitude and positivity. You are completely right about fixing things yourself and the sense of accomplishment. I fixed my check engine light even a simple fix but I felt like hey things will be ok and that's they way I feel in your videos. You attempt to fix in a logical problem solving way and I feel like win or lose the journey is worth it. So hey first comment but I've watched a lot of videos and you are very uplifting.
@@fatpatorgi Yeah he takes his own knowledge and experience then uses it well :) Yep I just google things...it's nice to have the option but really maybe more people should figure things out themselves that's how you learn.
Yep, changed the HDD on my desktop, and I felt like the PC goddess for a while there. Rock simple to switch those out as long as your recovery media is good. HDD cost about $35 (1Tb), so even better......saved $$$$$!
The quality of your videos get better and better, the adding of lighting is a great effect, I've been here since the beginning keep up the good work :)

Great videos mate much more entertaining than a standard “ how to” video. It feels as though we are on the journey with you. Keep up the great content so happy how this one ended up after last two. Good work pal 👍
To remove the back cover you only have to remove the one middle screw on each joycon rails instead of all four like you did when you forgot the micro SD card reader. Love the videos Vince. Been watching for awhile. Keep it up!!!

I'd love to see some DSi's, or original "brick" DS's be repaired! I've been binge watching you, exploring the basic terms and knowledge of repairing. It really does help to know this, especially when repairing my pc, or even as simple as trying to fix a faulty button. Currently my DSi's right button is broke, my uncle sat on it YEARS ago. Attempting to take it apart right now, with your knowledge in the back of my head! :)
Really enjoy your videos, keep them coming! You should really have some better lighting when working so late though, it was very difficult watching compared to your other ones (too much shadow and lower picture quality)
"i don't claim to be an expert"... :D but you are more expert than many people who do claim they are. You make it for entertainment and entertaining it is definately. :D and each video i watch from you i see you learned more and more. Soon you will be a full expert
i think the problem with the second switch not coming up on the tv is due to the connector being right where it bent. my guess is a couple the pins came off the main board. a quick flux and heat should fix them.
Love how when u tell us of ur last vid- u don't over sell ur video and not telling us the outcome is really helpful. Also ReplaceBase is really good for me too
I've done fixes like this on a few 3ds family devices. 1st one had a broken cart slot, and the 2nd one had a broken touchscreen that cancelled out buttons.
Vince on the copper heat pipe that glue like stuff is thermal paste if you didn’t know maybe from having it out clean it off we alcohol and re apply some new thermal paste. When it’s out it gets dry and won’t do its job as good maybe not as important on a switch but for a pc or console it’s very important.
Thanks for the advice. I did order some up from Amazon in a syringe type setup but I need to read up on how much to apply as I have never applied it before :-)
My Mate VINCE omg didn’t think you would reply. I have made a lot of pcs even know I’m on 13 aha. You apply a blob around the size of pea but slightly bigger depends on the chip. Dont spread it with your finger and apply it then put the heat sink on straight away so no air born dust gets on it. :)
It's great to see you find a bargain like that and get the switch working. My guess is that somebody tried to open it for fun, unscrewed it at the sides first and yanked the rails off by accident (maybe they thought they were easily detachable or something haha) . If I'm not mistaken you now have a complete switch set with the joycon and the dock from that power bricked one too so that must be nice. Also awesome to see you fix up that Wii U without doing a reflow :)
Also he should've put the enclosure (covers and inside) from it (the faulty one) to the first one he did (part 1). But hey, if he finds that's ok he knows whats the best for him! If it was me and if i had the spares, just take the board (and if the touch+screen was better, meaning scratchless) from one to other and keep both working with good enclosures and not trying to fix a bent/warped "chassis" (covers and inside protections).
Would be better if he woulnd't kill it with lack of the desoldering skills, it would be just a tenner(for the new IC) and it would work perfectly fine. + in second repair instead of soldering that antenna socket from the 1st one, he destroyed the anntenna and then just put it in palce with tape...
Love the videos, I was wondering if you would consider doing a video about the general tools you would use when going about fixing, and giving a short tutorial?
Are the serial numbers removed by the insurance companies who sell them on to a third party? Maybe someone has claimed against there insurance policy already against it and this is to prevent future claims? Keep up the good work, me and my sons want to tackle a switch next!
Hello and great videos i won't say all the stuff others have already pointed out. I am glad that I found your videos, because you are not sponsored and just like to try and fix things just to fix them you have earned a sub from me . You definitely need to continue on the Switch that would not dock please please and thank you from 'merica.
Your videos are really nice and informative. Makes me want to do repairs on these devices also even though I have absolutely no experience. On a sidenote, where did you get the Windows 10 laptop/tablet you are using in the beginning of the video?
I have found some people selling their joycons here in Spain due to broken ZL or RL buttons or faulty joysticks. Maybe if you buy a bunch of them you can change some pieces to get one working, that could be nice to watch.
Jerryrig Everything had a video doing a durability test and broke off a joycon and the fault was the rails and screws. It also took a lot of force to break it.
Hi Vince, exactly how I started in Engineering. Good to hear someone who will have a go. I now fix Military Aircraft and Nuclear installations but not at the same time. 😄 and yes mine was a mini which needed constant clutch and carb. work.
Congrats on your fixing. You can sell the region motherboard via eBay. I like your videos. Maybe you can lear soldering on old PCBs and then try to fix the bricked Switch mainboard? I like to see that.
Nice work bro! I like it a lot! But i have a question, what are you gonna do with that NINTENDO Switch? You already have one? BTW: Love your vids!! ♡♡♡
i'd love to see you tackle any of the old ipods, particularly the later models which are notoriously difficult to open, you can swap out the HD for micro SD cards with a product from Iflash and upgrade to higher capacity, also generally need a replacement battery and you can also add a custom firmware called Rockbox, would all make a great addition to your excellent videos...if you haven't done that already that is...
if you have something that can score the inner walls of screws you can put little tiny slices opposite each other and use something like two tiny flat-heads to apply force to the opposite sides...there are btr ways but when you have none of them it works. the scores don't have to be deep as the force required to remove it from some little device shouldn't exceed hand tight anyway, oh and every time i watch a video i forget to say this but anything you arent able to fix or sell off for parts can often be used in pieces of art made out of the project...ive used the plastic shell of cell phones, different game controllers, screens rubber pieces and even circuits in art before and its always cool. Some people who are into that stuff will even pay good money for nice work
Not a Nintendo fan AT ALL, but your videos are WONDERFUL. Love your attitude towards the situations you find yourself in. Reminds me of.....ME...lol. I bought a Transmitter for an RC plane hoping to save money only to find the unit was junk after turning it on the second time. I was planning on upgrading it, now its a parts unit in a box. I ended up buying a new one. The thing I could do now is just buy another unit that has a good motherboard but if the rest is damaged,I have lots of good parts to fix one. I really like your videos. It makes me think I could get into fixing RC transmitters, repair them and resell them. The problem being, in two years the technology will change and make the current ones obsolete. Someone already has one out that has blue tooth capability. You can connect with your buddys and have them meet you at the flying field or download a new planes program to the memory not using your computer. Its all going blue tooth and computer technology.
Hi Vince, Invest in a iFixit toolkit! I bought one and thus far have not been able to bend any of the small screwdrivers. Quality seems to be far better than the chinese or screwdrivers i got locally
Hi, I will definitely do a video on it to try and fix it, some good suggestions have come in on the comments so I now have a few things to try. It will probably be in a week or so :-)
Hello! I just thought I'd mention this in case you didn't know, to take the back panel off the switch, you're only required to take the middle screw out of the Joy-con rails to release the back panel. Hope this helps!
Hi. Just watched your Cat 6 faceplate wiring Video where you say you sell the full kit. Do you still sell this as when I click the link it says shop doesn’t exist? Looking to do this around my house so any links to a decent place to buy from would be great. Thanks and fantastic vids.
You're probably right about Nindento not selling refurbished or repaired sets. So they probably took off the serial numbers first before sending them off for destruction.
About the serial number. I just notice on Amazon that if you purchase a Nintendo Switch it gives you a notification that the serial number will be used to report it in case the unit it's not delivered. I assume it's to keep people from stealing them and then reselling at some point it might ban you from the online services(going live in september) in case the unit has been stolen
AWESOME! you inspire me to make videos like yours, thanks you very much, I was made vid to trying to fix the nintendo 3DS,. but sadly that my English is very poor. BIG THANKS.
good on ya everything in life is learning curve half my car working stuff is in another state 600 km away in Melbourne Victoria Aust , i have tell you something funny in 1968 ford Corina in between the 1600 cc engine and the gearbox was a metal like a gasket after changing gear box from col-um shift to floor shift the car went 1 km then bank broke con-rod between piston and crank i forgot put the gasket in between motor n gearbox some told me ford would put there if it wasn't needed
I think the reason why the serial number is removed is because of you can email nintendo with the serial number and than you can get a new switch when you send them the broken. I don't know if that's the case but it seems like it though
Hi, im planning to get RJ45 wall sockets installed to my bedroom, I have had a couple of my friends from my IT class at college tell me that the Ethernet signal is reduced in the wall sockets so I just wanted to ask if that is true or not as I have seen that you have done tutorials on how to terminate sockets.
bought 3 switches from the same seller, 2 hasn't arrived yet but the one that has was sold as not charging except when docked, when infact it charges fine both in and out of dock. One problem it does have is the joycons don't charge but i found the fault to be a faulty fan (they share the same power line i assume), removing it restores charging to the joycons, ordered a new on for £6 from china. Paid £84 for this one. £87 for one of the switches yet to arrive and the fault is it doesn't charge at all but does power on. other one no power and paid £62 Mine didn't appear to have been opened before either, seems like a genuine seller just selling returns by the looks of it.
They have been returned under warenty and replaced. And nintento then sells them off in bulk to recyclers or at auction. They take the serial off so they can't be returned for a second time under warenty. They are supposed to be scraped for parts.
Ah so you followed my tip and got hold of the WII U EU gamepad board? Great you got it working, congrats. Now it's just time for the market to lower the price of the 2DS XL screens.
The screws break, that's the weak point. Saw it in a durability test video where they intentionally try to break it at different points with increasing forces.
You've taken apart 4 not 3, you terrifyingly took apart your own, working one!! Love this channel.

I think the reason why the serial number is removed is because of you can email nintendo with the serial number and than you can get a new switch when you send them the broken. I don't know if that's the case but it seems like it though
just a tip you don't need to entirely remove the rails to remove the back you should only need to remove the center screw on the rails.

£87 for one of the switches yet to arrive and the fault is it doesn't charge at all but does power on. other one no power and paid £62
Mine didn't appear to have been opened before either, seems like a genuine seller just selling returns by the looks of it.
i dont get why i enjoy these so much xD
i've always wondered why the serial numbers have been removed aswell!!
I need to know as well!
I wonder whether it's stolen and that's why it doesn't come with anything and the SN is removed so it cannot be traced back to the owner?
i doubt it... more like for warranty or guarantee reasons..
One good practice in repairing things is to test everything before close up.
the best sense of accomplishment i ever had was when my grandfather showed me how to fix my brakes with a shoe A FLIPPIN SHOE
do tell. (the first time i read it as on a shoe, and was really confused as to why you had brakes on your shoe)
So for this Nintendo switch how much did you pay converted into US dollars for just the tablet without the joy con connectors?
Good job but what do you do the the switches you end up fixing ?
Subscribed! Love all the repair videos!
