This is the Lafayette HS Band of Lexington, KY under the direction of J. Steven Moore and Terry Magee. The concept of the show was to sound as much like a concert band outdoors as possible. The arrangements were inspired by Mark Hindsley's transcription. Oboe, bassoon, strings, and organ sounds were added in an early use of electronics. The highest level of authentic orchestral sound sampling available at the time was triggered by a keyboard and amplified through high quality speakers and lots of power. The keyboard player and the entire sound system were placed inside the custom built podium. Speakers were pointed out to end zones to blend better with winds and percussion. The keyboard player was seated inside with a mirror to see the conductor above, but they mostly listened for time instead of watching drum major. Innovative guard props include fabric tubes. The students earned their 3rd Kentucky State Championship and 3rd Grand Championship at the MTSU Contest of Champions.

Absolutely Stunning! This was my favorite marching band song in HS. (Class of’95 LHS, Naples, FL). Brought back fond memories of my days the lower brass section: trombone.
