And if you wanna start playing right away:
    - What your jab string does
    - mid poke
    - low poke
    - power low
    - keepout button
    - whiff punish button
    - pressure button
    - i10 & i15-16 punishes
    - i11 & i15 ws punish
    - a super shitty combo that works on every axis on every launcher, even if it only does like 40 damage
I had to start doing this because otherwise I'd just waste so much time trying to figure out everything before even hopping into the game.

Strings also work for mixups and mind games, and I'd say punishment isn't needed until high intermediate since most players will let you run over them if you have consistent pressure 😂

@@KyeCreateslearn to punish instead of relying on pressure. i bloom when my opponent acts like raw pressure is all they need since i have learned punishments as one of the first things back then. raw pressure builds on mental frames, if you keep pressing the opponent will think you prob weren't that minus or even plus because who would mash like that if it's not thought out.
but it probably isn't. even in higher ranks it's all just vague flowcharts easily readable and even easier punishable but they just root that you don't know they're -14. also it's important to stop pressing. anything. my b1 ch launcher has been having a field day the past few days.

Really glad you mentioned geppopotamus. I do similar breakdowns of moves but is to quickly get all the frames, properties and damage in an easy to read format, so I don't have to lab them all myself.
That way I can quickly compare moves with similar properties to find the unique benefits of each.
The biggest thing they're missing is guaranteed followups, so first I check a couple punishment guides to be sure there isn't stronger punishers than the data implies.
After figuring out optimal punishment, I'll summarise all the stance and full crouch moves first (usually already familier with a lot of crouch moves from learning punishment) then split all other moves by startup frames to compare them.
Finally, if there's any moves were the data seems objectively worse than another move, I'll check them in game, and usually the "worse" one has either longer range, or a more decptive animation.
I don't really have a method for learning how well moves track, but its usually pretty intuitive from the animation, and you figure it just by using them enough.

    • @PhiDX
      @PhiDX  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The bot can set a sidestep as a secondary action. It's not 100% reliable but, with that setting you can jab the bot's block, then try the move you're testing.
Once full recording is available, I test it with forward dash instead of jab, and I try to sidestep the move using my character.

So i actually did this exact thing for Jun and noticed how good that order of:stances, punishers, good moves, combo was. Didnt really have much time unfortunately so i didnt go that deep, but still. Also something very good i think google sheets was fantastic for this. You could have so much information on your monitor at the same time. I had first a punish tab where i compiled punishes as i found them. Even a few options for different punishes. Like for example for i13 standing f34 for a wall splat and decent damage or f31 to get i to stance if i want to risk a mix up. (I might remember those inputs wrong but but my point). next ont he right i had my stance options all of them just listed out. At the bottom left i had my "good moves" and bottom right i had a place for comboes though i didn't have enough time to look into them almost at all so i just remembered the one combo i kept doing.

    Some Azucena specific tips:
1,1 is an exceptional string for learning offense and defense.
It's -9 so you end your turn when it's blocked but you can use it after blocking something you suspect is unsafe or if you think you can get a counter hit.
I also use it as a poke or whiff punishing something fast.
You enter stance at an advantage on hit which means you can attack right after. If your stance attack hits then you can continue the momentum.

    • @PhiDX

I always start out with the combo challenges(or sample combos pre-T8) so I know what moves are gonna be essential. Once I get used to the combo inputs, like doing them without a guide. I try to take the moves out of those combos to neutral. You can usually identify from those moves which launcher was a df2, a df1, 1jab etc. Then I fully learn the movelist after by doing them one by one on my own.
After that, I go for a test run on ranked/quick match. I mostly start out playing dry(df1, low poke, df2 etc.). Then it evolves from there by trying out some moves that aren't the generics.
