Hey Geoff! Greetings from Tennessee (Smyrna. Just south of Nashville.) I just recently discovered your video singing 'Sixteen Tons' by Tennessee Ernie Ford. It was so amazing that I subscribed to you immediately. Then, I started listening to Voiceplay. I was so impressed that I brought my 7-year-old granddaughter in to listen. She now has all your solo videos in her favorites. My 3 daughters grew up listening to me singing the full version of 'You are my sunshine'. I try to sing parts of it in a lower tone. Personally, I don't think I do it very well, but they say they will always remember it, and now sing it to their kids. Yes. I'm a dad of 5, and grandpa of 3 (soon to be 4). I'll be 50 this June. I was wondering if you could sing 'You are my Sunshine' so they could hear what a real bass voice can do with that song. My mother loved you singing the Beatles song 'Blackbird'. She remembers when the Beatles came to America the first time. Anyways, I just meant to say hello and thank you for sharing your time, and voice.
I think it would be so cool if you did "this is quarantine" (34:06) with the other members of voiceplay by recording in your own homes to a certain tempo and combining the audio at the end, then splitting the screen into 5 cameras.
Im watching this June 3, 2023. I hope you guys come to Michigan again... I just discovered you all.. and I absolutely love you guys... thank you for all you guys do...
Shoot. I remember when the Beattles first came to America. I have 3 kids, but they have none so I am no where near having grandkids or great grandkds. I must be a slow starter. BUT, BLACKBIRD is AMAZING!
2024 - looking back. In CA, I never got to stay home for Covid. Still worked at school each day, still Door Dashed through the Highway 50 foothill corridor, and stillworked my weekend job at a recreation destination. I was not bored at all.
10:12 I believe is a throat singing technique called kargyraa. It’s different to subharmonics but it’s quite hard to do and very impressive. At 2:15 in this video is a demonstration of it and I think it sounds pretty similar th-cam.com/video/7zZainT9v6Q/w-d-xo.html
JD Sumner is fantastic and I highly recommend everyone go check out some of his stuff, he sadly died in 1998. I'm really glad you know who he is Geoff :D One of my absolute favourites! He had the world record for lowest voice until Tim Storm comes along but if we go by chest voice alone he is still the world record. :)
What's funny is I have actually seen 4 of the 5 basses you mentioned live. I saw Take 6 and Manhattan transfer perform together in Sarasota a few years ago, and it was probably my favorite show ever: maybe because I haven't had the opportunity to see voiceplay live yet. I also saw Trist Curless with M pact around 2003. I saw Rockapella twice, once with each bass. Amazing shows. Also, I think I just missed you in Toxic Audio. Saw them at Western Michigan University in 2004. If it wasn't clear, I'm a life-long A Capella fan, and you guys are definitely my current favorite group. Keep up the amazing work.
You are to kind! My wife now has a crush for you and my daughter does too :) after putting oogie boogie on in the car. And they where amazed I sang your part along with no excersises. But anyway hope you and Voiceplay Will come to the Netherlands when Covid-19 is more under control.
I know why everyone asks about height! It’s because you and Layne look around 6ft 7 in the videos 😂 As a 5ft 10 lady I see so many people on TV who, for some reason, look like giants and then I’ve come across them in real life and they come up to my elbow 😂 You guys are amazing - please come to the UK!
I think this is the only man that looks better with longer hair. Plus it helps him with low notes as I heard 😏 Win - win situation for us wiewers and listeners ☺️ Love voiceplay
I could listen to that voice for hours, just fantastic, that's masculine to me 😉👌👌🙏 I'm already very curious what else comes from you and also from voiceplay 🙂💋All the best for all of you 💞
Hey Geoff, been practicing subharmonics for a little while and I've noticed that it slips into a fry more often than not, is there something I'm doing wrong when trying to do it or could it be that's just how my voice is? P.S. been listening and singing along to alot of Voiceplay, Home Free, etc. to try and work on and practice my bass range as well
You should do a colab with Tim Foust and Avi Kaplan and you could sing Mad World. That would be so cool to listen to! And thank you for the stream, it was fun to be a part of it
I loved VoicePlay's Queen music. I listen to a lot of Queen's music and I think that your voice is as good as Freddie's in his slower songs. He didn't have your deeper range but your mid-range is just as strong and beautiful as his.
Wasn't here for the stream itself but I think it's so cool how you guys make an effort like this to reach out to your audience. For generic people like me it sorta humanizes you guys in a way, cuz everyone looks up to you as a performer. It's really nice :)

Tiny Tims Tip Toe Thru the Tulips is ok, but really old school is Winchester Cathedral - New Vaudeville Band 1966. I think I may still have the 45 or maybe even the album.
What a cutie!!!!!! Can you come to South Lake Tahoe Harrahs show room??? I saw my other favorite band there and I would love to see you Geoffy Weoffy!!!!!
Yes, please come back to Michigan! Last time you were here the show was in Traverse City which is four plus hours from me so I saw you guys in Ohio instead because the drive was shorter. Was very much worth it just hoping you make it this way again.
It really bugs me that i missed the stream so close. About half a minute before it started one of my friends called and we chatted for 47 minutes 😑. Hopefully ill catch you next time. Greetings from Germany :)
My question would be I noticed he has the wedding ring on his left hand and another silver band on the middle finger of his right hand, I wonder what it’s for?
Hi Geoff! Hello from PHILIPPINES! How was your experience in Philippines? I didn't have the chance to go to your concert last few years... Coz we were far from Manila. Wish you could come here again😄 maybe after the pandemic. God bless
I just discovered your channel and voice play and I love it! So could you do another live, that I also have a chance to be a part, that would be awesome! ❤️
I've been on a Phantom of the Opera binge after seeing the anniversary edition on TH-cam and after seeing Voice Play's Phantom of the Opera, I am dying to hear you, as a bass, sing Erik/Phantom's songs from the musical like Point of no Return, Why so Silent, Music of the Night, Angel of Music, etcetera. You would make an amazing Phantom of the Opera.
I couldn't catch the stream, but I do have a question about singing. I have a very similar range to yours, and I wanted to know how you keep your highest notes from sounding "shrill" if that makes sense. Any higher than E4 and my voice sounds quite unpleasant, even though I'm not straining.
Haha Geoff totally avoided the Avi - Tim collab question. XD Seriously though, if I ever see this notification my headphones are gonna need a paramedic afterwards. :'D
Chest-fry can be observed the same way as chest-mix, basically it is a fry register reinforced/mixed with chest register, which adds texture, volume and sounds fuller/louder.
Geoff, in one of your other videos you said to learn to play an instrument to help with singing. I play trumpet, would that be a good instrument to help with singing?
Just want to say to I wish I had discovered your amazing talent earlier. I am blown away by your Voice. I have never heard anybody hit a note as low as you. Your octave range is so impressive. I watch your other videos and voice play. Very cool. . I would love too see you pull off some Type O' Negative LOL (Which I know you can do). Not the norm for you but would be fun to hear.
Even if you would prefer not to have Wiliam's face on TH-cam, I would love to hear you two together with him just out of camera range. Or in range if you and your wife are ok with that.
It's rather sad, though understandable, that everyone thinks of Tiny Tim's version of Tiptoe Through the Tulips, as it was a nice song before he made it so creepy. Long before, I should say. It's a very old song.
@@nikelodeon6852 I mean I cant really speak for him, but I just get the impression it's a joke about having a higher voice and not being able to go below C3, though you may very well be right, I also believe some notation systems have octave differences. (C3 is C2, C2 is C1, etc.) Not sure where tho.
I’m not sure how much it is because it is a little bit of a drive to me to get it done so I’m just waiting to hear from them about that one thing that I can find and then I’ll be sure to let him now. Thanks.😊 Bye. 6:26 is a great.
13:54 I sing quite often and used your videos about subharmonics to help me get a lower register and it work. My voice in september of 2023 was more of a low alto range but now i can sing tenor 2 (i think that’s the lower one) but i have beautiful high notes said my choir teacher so i was put in tenor 1. but just a few days ago i hit a B0 i think it was just good luck cause i kept trying to get there again but i never got there. My range is about a D3 - F4. but i can probably reach an C5 if i tried hard enough.
Geoff, I don't be remember where it is, but there is a video on TH-cam somewhere that shows you how to "double your subharmonics". Basically going two octaves lower than what you sing. You oughta check it out it might allow you to go lower than you can do now.
Wow I wish you could do another chaturday, you have plenty of Canadian fans and it could be sooooo nice if the group performs in Montreal (Quebec) your biggest fan lives there :D
How do you compare listening to other basses besides JD Sumner and Tim Foust like Paul Robeson, Sam Ramey, Boris Christoff, Feodor Chaliapin, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Jerome Hines, George London, and Ezio Pinza? I hate to sound like an opera geek, but I was wondering. And one thing, could do an Osmin bass challenge?
UPDATE: the whole internet told me how to enable slow mode. Thanks! 👍

Geoff, in one of your other videos you said to learn to play an instrument to help with singing. I play trumpet, would that be a good instrument to help with singing?
👍 Literally any instrument is gonna be of benefit. Go for it.
I love George Baldi III! I was hoping when you started listing he would be on it!
I LOVE your voice Geoff Castellucci does it hurt when you go very deep with your voice?
Even if you would prefer not to have Wiliam's face on TH-cam, I would love to hear you two together with him just out of camera range. Or in range if you and your wife are ok with that.
Has VoicePlay done (or have plans to do) any Baroque/Classical/Liturgical style arrangements?
It's rather sad, though understandable, that everyone thinks of Tiny Tim's version of Tiptoe Through the Tulips, as it was a nice song before he made it so creepy. Long before, I should say. It's a very old song.
I hope that i can joined your live video..😍😍 i really love to hear your voice😍
How do you personally smooth out your subharmonics and get a better sound?
When the world gets back to normal and you guys can hit the road again, please come to Louisville KY
I really like your.... in 5 minutes, Panic at the disco is my favorite. What group or singer do you want to do that you haven't done yet?
When his voice went deeper than C3, I felt that.
C3 isn't even deep lol. I think you mean C2
@@nikelodeon6852 that was the joke I'm pretty sure.
@@imperius5765 I'm pretty sure that's not the joke cause there is no joke. He meant to type C2 but typed C3 instead.
@@nikelodeon6852 I mean I cant really speak for him, but I just get the impression it's a joke about having a higher voice and not being able to go below C3, though you may very well be right, I also believe some notation systems have octave differences. (C3 is C2, C2 is C1, etc.) Not sure where tho.
and one last thing you are my captain america
GOOD NIGTH ¨MY PRINCE
I love your voice dude amazing singing
My range is about a D3 - F4. but i can probably reach an C5 if i tried hard enough.
also if you ever come to preform in or near my city in Manitoba Canada i will force my friends and my family to come with me.
I love your voice play group you all amazing.
Geoff's talking voice kinda reminds me of Markiplier. Except without the "Hello Everybody!".
Hay geoff hi from durham north east england 🖐️ would love it if you guys could come to uk your fab and would defo go and see you all x
