Liked you comment. But the main reason for the competition is the fact that the population is out of control which puts extreme pressure on individuals. Passing exams and cramming factories (youth) ratcheting up the pressure from parents and family to achieve grades before entrance exams. Am Indian born and educated but live in the UK and shocked to see the suicide rate among students only to get out of poverty.

Out of 196 countries✅, if I am preparing for the UPSC exam to become an IAS/IPS officer, if I am working hard to become a soldier or to be a part of the army, if I am putting in effort to pursue a career at ISRO (even though it would require less effort for me to join NASA), and if I am diligently doing my job in my country, then yes, it makes me a patriot and represents my patriotism. This is how entrance exams will measure my patriotism. And in India, becoming a servant of the government is far more difficult than becoming the government itself. So, why should we compare with all 196 countries?
