    As a fairly new golfer nothing makes me happier than to see you veterans calculate putts and then miss them just like I do. That's what makes WgT a great game because of its variance. Great video I got a lot out of it thank you.. When it's all said and done it comes down to the power and the sweet spot.

    Thanks Jason! Nice presentation, good job. On breaking I've been playing
    around with feel putting using cups (6 cups per grid box) and visual speed
    of the dots. Since the game is written in unity code, I would think in terms
    of using a bezier curve outline for the break path. After calculating the distance I would count the number of full grids to the pin. Normal speed of the dots would be 1 cup per grid, fast 2 cups per grid, slow 1/2, etc. So if I was 7 grids away with normal speed dots I would move 7 cups over (1 cup into the 2nd grid. Quick and easy way to feel putt. Does it work 100%? No but you would be surprise on the putts made. Keep up the good work! Jimmie

    Hi Jason. How do you assess the vertical dots?

    • @JasonGray503
      @JasonGray503 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeff. Honestly, I don't look at the vertical dots much. Maybe an error on my end. I know Babzilla does and if you check out his putting videos on his channel he talks about them a bit. My take is, clicking the arrows to look at the vertical dots... if the dots are moving uphill towards the golfer the putt should break slightly less and if theyre moving downhill towards the hole the putt often breaks slightly more.

    question for you. i think wgt changed how a player can become a TL. I played a regular opponent just yesterday who was a legend and is now a TL. i checked his stats and he has only 25 ranked games. he said he got a message is all he knows. I keep plugging away to get this level and i dont want it cheaply. i know its off topic but i thought i'd see if you heard or seen it yourself. thx for the video.. good stuff

      I’ve seen some people tier high but not hit the qualifications. I suspect it has to do with how much they play coin games or other WGT styles.
      Playing the ranked rounds and getting handicap down is how most do it and I’m doing it.

      Everyone enjoys games differently. Just like real life golf: not everyone is going to learn the math, map clubs, practice all the time and then go play rounds in real life. You get to choose that on here too. But, for those that want to get great and understand how it all works, without just playing casually, this video can help.

      @@billantos My pleasure. Understandable. This game can be pretty simple to do well on but takes more time to do great on for sure. In the limited time you do use for the game, you might already be doing this, but you could take 5-10 mins each time to practice whatever area you seek improvement on and then go on to play. I see many guys that play 1-2 rounds a day but never work on fine tuning their weak areas. If they played one less round a week and used that 30-60mins to practice with intention I bet theyd be a lot better.

    Jesus all that calculating and still miss the putt, now that would be irritating. So according to this, the best players on WGT are mathematicians? For me playing like this takes the golf out of the game. And Jason your putting stat is 1.49 - not great. And you have over 6000 ranked rounds. I do some calculations but nothing this intense. I believe using some basic calculations and feel and course knowledge is a better way than all of this. If guys do this the pace of their game would be tedious and take the fun out of it IMO. But nice video for the math nerds.

      We can calculate but still miss with human elements :) Some of the top players from playing 5-10k ranked rounds have so much memorized that they don't need to calculate a lot of them. But most people who use a calculator or spreadsheet or want to know exactly how it works does something like this. I can do it in 3 seconds with having this formula in my spreadsheet. Still doesn't make things go in all the time and you still are having many human elements- counting dot speed, dif dot movements, hitting the ding, other variables that each course may have in play. I've never claimed to be the best... yet. Just a guy enjoying the game and coming up the ranks. I like to give back the tips, ideas, and knowledge that I've learned for those of you on youtube that are looking for WGT ideas. Take the best, leave the rest. My rounds and putting is getting better all the time. I just learned this exact formula 2 months ago or so from watching Fmags talk about it on Patchnotes stream and when I made this adjustment, I no longer leave any putts short or super long. Over 1500 ranked rounds, not 6k, my putting is 1.49 with 47% 1 putt, 47% 2 putt, and 5% 3 putt. The bigger this sample size gets, the better my ratios will be - the rounds where I knew none of this early on, the rounds where I had terrible equipment, etc etc starts to get drowned out by the current rounds. Also, I'm working on my average approach distance. Mine is 13ft over the 1500 ranked rounds, although most rounds now it's about 11ft give or take. The top guys seem to be 9-10 ft, which of course, will help the putting. Course knowledge is a huge component to playing better to, good for you for having that down. Let me know if you'd like to play a game - happy to beat you any time.

      You will eventually be able to putt by feel after a certain period of time if you know what to look for in reading the greens.

      @JasonGray503 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesroboyle for me I like feel and ram putting 2-7 ft. Everything else I almost always prefer dot counting unless the dots are wonky.

      It’s supposed to be a game of skill and a bit of luck, shouldn’t need to be a nuclear scientist to calculate a putt ffs.
      No wonder so many ridiculous scores of -15 for 18 holes.
