Just found this video and I gotta say that it’s totally awesome! Should have seen this video sooner.
However, I have a little bit problem of how to do the intersecting part. I tried to merge shapes and it didn’t work. I didn’t what could have gone wrong. When I merged in intersect mode and the shape turned into the color instead of the background. I didn’t what to do afterwards. Been trying to do that for a couple of hours.

its probably because you selected the text before the shape, try selecting the shape first and then select the text. GOOD LUCK

Thank you for this amazing tutorial. However, I do have a small problem. I don't know why the small intersect part that i got always have a white outline so when i paste it on the original slide. It does look a bit crooked.... ANyone with the same problem?

There's a faster way than using merge image tool. After creating a free shape, you can fill it with "slide background" :). Btw, thank for the interesting video :)

If you set the picture as the background, you will have the second way to do this and you not need to intersect.
I'm currently using PowerPoint 2016 and this doesn’t work for me.
When i do intersect it doesn’t crop the selected area.
Please add subtitles or change this distracting music. It ruins this awesome tutorial.
question, How can I make transparency to an image using a gradient i.e. a picture that becomes more transparent with its length
Awesome question :) as far as I know only transparency for the whole picture can be adjusted, not sure about tranparency gradient. However you can add a shape on top of the picture, and make that shape half transparent, maybe this would help
