In the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, the Prophet ﷺ delivered his Friday sermon relying on a trunk of a palm tree. There was no pulpit, and the trunk silently fulfilled its role. The companions saw the necessity of preparing a pulpit so that the Prophet ﷺ could address them clearly.
في مسجد النبي في المدينة، ألقى النبي ﷺ خطبته يوم الجمعة معتمدًا على جذع نخلة. لم يكن هناك منبر، وقد قام الجذع بدوره بصمت. رأى الصحابة ضرورة إعداد منبر حتى يتمكن النبي ﷺ من مخاطبتهم بوضوح.
One of the companions took the initiative to present a new pulpit for the Prophet ﷺ, which was made and placed in the mosque in place of the trunk. In the following Friday, the Prophet ﷺ ascended the pulpit to begin his sermon.
أحد الصحابة بادر بتقديم منبر جديد للنبي ﷺ، تم صنعه ووضعه في المسجد بدلاً من الجذع. في الجمعة التالية، صعد النبي ﷺ المنبر ليبدأ خطبته.
Suddenly, the companions heard a strange sound filling the mosque, akin to the moaning or lament of a child crying deeply. Everyone directed their gaze towards the trunk where the Prophet ﷺ had previously stood.
فجأة، سمع الصحابة صوتًا غريبًا يملأ المسجد، يشبه أنين أو نواح طفل يبكي بعمق. توجهت أنظار الجميع نحو الجذع حيث كان النبي ﷺ يقف سابقًا.
The trunk was crying and moaning as if it had lost something precious; it longed for the warmth and closeness of the Prophet ﷺ. The moment was astonishing, and everyone realised it was a divine miracle.
كان الجذع يبكي وينوح كما لو أنه فقد شيئًا ثمينًا؛ كان يتوق إلى دفء وقرب النبي ﷺ. كانت اللحظة مذهلة، وأدرك الجميع أنها معجزة إلهية.
The Prophet ﷺ descended to comfort the trunk. He embraced it with his noble arms, as a mother would soothe her crying child. The beauty and tenderness of the Prophet ﷺ shone in that moment.
نزل النبي ﷺ ليواسي الجذع. احتضنه بذراعيه النبيلتين، كما تفعل الأم لتهدئة طفلها الباكي. كانت جمال ورقة النبي ﷺ تتألق في تلك اللحظة.
The trunk did not calm down until the Prophet ﷺ promised it, saying: "Would you not be content to be buried here and be with me in Paradise?" At that moment, the trunk calmed down, filled with tranquillity.
لم يهدأ الجذع حتى وعده النبي ﷺ قائلاً: "ألا ترضى أن تُدفن هنا وتكون معي في الجنة؟" في تلك اللحظة، هدأ الجذع، مليئًا بالسكينة.
The wondrous scene amazed the companions, who understood the ranks of the Prophet ﷺ and the love of all creatures for him. They knew that Allah elevates the status of the Prophet ﷺ.
أدهش المشهد الرائع الصحابة، الذين فهموا مراتب النبي ﷺ ومحبة جميع المخلوقات له. كانوا يعلمون أن الله يرفع مقام النبي ﷺ.
The Prophet ﷺ buried the trunk in the mosque, promising that it would be in the company of the Prophet ﷺ in Paradise, as a reward for its great love.
دفن النبي ﷺ الجذع في المسجد، واعدًا بأنه سيكون في صحبة النبي ﷺ في الجنة، كجزء من مكافأته على حبه العظيم.
