BBC One NI analogue TV & Ceefax shutdown, 23rd October 2012

That is it! The moment Ceefax went off the air for good, not just in Northern Ireland but also the UK and as a service of it's own. The BBC One NI analogue shutdown took place just after "The Magic Box" programme (a programme jointly produced by the BBC and UTV) had finished with the plug pulled at 11:32:19PM BST on the 23rd October 2012. Unlike the BBC Two closedown, the "Ceefax is temporarily off air" caption didn't appear other than the "SEE P100" part where the clock is normally located. RIP Ceefax.

Reception is from the Brougher Mountain transmission station on channel E22. This frequency will now be used for the D3&4 multiplex which will carry DVB-T SD services including UTV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

Bye Ceefax!, I live in Australia but I used to tune into a live stream on Twitch that featured an interactive ceefax emulator. It was cool!

I never knew ceefax was around for so long, or the you guys across the pond switched over so late. my GameGear's analog tuner hasn't worked on it's own for years now over here. Ceefax looked so dated the first time I saw it I thought the service must have met the same fat as SegaNet, Sega Channel, Satellite, RAND net, the original Xbox Live, ect, in the mid 90's.
