I was going to make a comment specifically about the acne risk of dairy consumption. Purely anecdotal, but my acne is practically non existent after switching from cow milk to almond milk. Will you please consider doing a video comparing common diets like Mediterranean, Vegan, Keto, Paleo, SAD? Could be helpful since there is so much conflicting information on them.
Vegan and Keto are very controversial and especially Vegan diets can vary wildly in how healthy they are, there are fruit diets, raw diets, actual plant based diets, SAD diet with just extra processing to make everything vegan. As for diets that are famous for being healthy, mediterranean, okinawan, paleo, the common thing about these is that they focus on real foods instead of processed food. Processed food is designed to be soft, easy to eat(so you eat faster, end up eating more), has a lot of salt and sugar for flavour, ingredients are very processed so most of the micronutrients are destroyed, not to mention the food additives that have not gone through extensive testing do they affect us negatively or not. A healthy diet is not really that hard, the hard part is to have time and energy (and money) to cook real food when we have so many fast and processed food options available. As for keto, for most people it's really hard to stick to, I personally think it can be very helpful for figuring out intolerances, fixing insulin resistance, losing weight if that kind of restriction works for you, but personally I wouldn't do keto as a long term diet. It's healthier than a typical unhealthy SAD diet yes, but that much excess protein is not healthy if you want to live a long healthy life. Recommended reading/listening: Lifespan book or podcast, Ultra-processed people book.
@@possummagic3571 It has to do with longevity, in the short term it doesn't matter. Our bodies work inbetween 2 modes, when nutrients are in abundance we "grow and reproduce", but when there is less nutrients the body gets more efficient and cleans up excess and stuck proteins in the body(autophagy). Because protein is our main building block it affects this system the most but same goes for calories in general. Even if not actually fasting more than 12hrs in night by not eating excess protein the body will run more efficiently and this leads to less diseases, less cancer, slower aging.
Please make a fast food tier list. Sometimes people get the urge for it and even if most of these foods aren't healthy at all, it would be helpful to know just how unhealthy they are in comparison and what the best choices would be.
Honestly I would put homemade Kefir in the S tier. It has all the same benefits of whatever milk you make it with, but 30% of the Lactose gets converted reducing the total caloric load. In addition homemade kefir has a much more diverse probiotic load than yogurt meaning it has even more benefit. Also, most "Buttermilk" available in the USA is actually just cultured whole milk making it more like a liquid yogurt. I don't know if I have ever seen actual buttermilk, other than during the butter making process. lastly, I recently was looking for a protein bar alternative and I realized that 12oz of regular whole milk had almost the same protein to calorie ratio as the protein bar I was eating. For reference, 12oz of milk has about 200 calories, 16g carbs, 11 grams of fat and 11 grams of protein. Given that it literally costs 1/10th as much as my protein bar and is a good source of hydration I don't know if I'll regularly consume a protein bar again.
All fair points. I didn't really think homemade Kefir was very popular. And even then I have less knowledge about what they're doing then I do with the branded ones. And ya. I haven't had a protein bar in years. I always pick shakes that are derived from milk. Its easier to eat, tastes better and basically all of its calories come from protein. But thats just me
@@Talon_Fitness I'm honestly one of only 2 people I know that makes the stuff. Hi Talon. As you know, the percent daily values of micronutrients are normally listed for a 2000 calorie diet. Would you happen to know the degree to which these daily values are dependent on calorie intake? For example, if one plans to consume 3000 calories per day for the purpose of gaining lean muscle, would those micronutrient requirements have to be scaled up by 50% to maintain the same benefits? Amazing work on the videos, they are much appreciated and very motivating.
In terms of gaining weight and muscle, is cream a good choice for a colorie boost? I work at a ice cream shop and after every shift I take whipped unsweetend cream home, as a treat after dinner, instead of icecream, because of the high sugar content, now I wonder if it is healthy for me to eat roughly a cup of whipped cream three days a week or if I should limit my intake. I work out at least two times a week and I am at a healthy body weight.
I can't wait for the list of cheeses And other dairy products thank you so much I am most appreciative this is exactly what I've been looking for Since I want to start eating less meat my body feels much better on dairy but I don't know which dairy are the best especially for bone health
Just an idea: you could do a milk tier list. You could do dairy milk, light, full cream, A2 milk, oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, sweetened/sweetened etc
The only dairy I consume would be cottage cheese, grass fed butter (though there isn't such a thing as non grass fed in my country), and kefir. Nice to see they are high on the list, although I'd personally put home-made real kefir in the S-teir as well, just for its ability to help treat IBD.
I love milk. I consume at least 900 milliliters of whole milk per day, every day. I've been doing this for a little over a year straight. But even growing up, I would have at least a cup of whole milk per day, mostly every day. I exclusively drink cow milk It's a decent source of protein, but more importantly, it tastes amazing, and you can get extra calories in if you're bulking. It's like tasty water but with calories, which could also be a negative thing
In Austria and Germany we also have something called "Topfen" or "Quark". It's much lower in fat than sour cream and firmer in consistence (more like crème fraiche) and contains as much protein as cottage cheese. I like to use it in desserts and dips. You can even bake cakes with it. Kind of like NY cheese cakes but lower in fat. I couldn't live without Topfen and it ensures a sufficient easy and relatively cheap protein intake.
Same here in the Netherlands except it's known here as "kwark". Definitely one of my go-to forms of food for low calorie meals that carry me through the afternoon. Especially nice to add some nuts and fruits into it for added nutrients :)
Ice Cream is basically dairy with added sugar. Fats are already very tasty without the added sugar. I used to eat ghee with broccoli a lot back when the Bulletproof diet was the trend, it was quite delicious. I might take that up again.
Yeah it's good source of low calorie protein, it's a real saviour for people who can't afford whey protein or don't get enough protein daily (especially when working out)
Get raw dairy if you have a local farm near you that raises grass-fed cows, water buffalo, etc. The benefits are so much greater when ultra-pasteurization isn’t killing off the majority of vitamins, etc. you can receive. If you don’t have access to this, then look for milk that has been vat-pasteurized. This process is low and slow (heating the milk at a lower temperature, for longer, so more of the nutrients remain.
Same, I add it to coffee over creamers & add cinnamon & sometimes ginger or pink salt over sugar. 🙃 I know, I'm weird but I try not to sweeten my coffee as it already is sweeten enough with 🥛 itself. 😹😸
You say about Kefir that its possible to get to much probiotics. What do you think about things like Yakult? is it necessary or even damaging? Gut health is super important but im not sure if people actually lack probiotics or if its just all marketing
What would you recommend someone who is allergic to cow’s milk (not lactose, so can have goat/sheep’s milk) to consume in order to get similar benefits to dairy? Great video by the way
Love your channel! I would be very interested if you could do a video ranking condiments and dipping sauces? Ketchup, ranch, blue cheese, honey mustard, nacho cheese, guacamole etc... maybe even some different sauces they use for wings like buffalo sauce, honey bbq, hot sauces, etc.
As a polish person, cottage cheese is an extremely common part of my diet, it can be eaten as a side dish, main dish, on a sandwich, by itself and within many other dishes like pierogi. It is not only healthy but also very tasty with some simple seasoning like salt and onion. You can also eat it with a jam - 10/10. Would recommend and I am going to eat it now.
I love this comparison out of all ..since I love a lot of dairy.. although I would disagree with the kefir placement in comparison with yoghurt since kefir is way better than yoghurt in many ways.. since kefir is basically a colony of healthy bacteria and has way more variety of good bacteria than there are in yogurt.
Stress less. Exercise more. Get enough omega 3s and any other foods that I've mentioned help with that. Because several do. I just don't know them all off the top of my head
If it continues to be a problem. See a doctor. Some conditions go beyond that the average person can fix but I believe that shouldn't be the immediate response

Imo Dr. Sten Ekberg's video that ranks fats was much better than Talon's video on fats, even tho I love Talon's videos.
good luck! do your own research instead of listening to some YT dude recycling googled without proper research, please. this list is utter BS and not scientifically representative. there is nothing good about dairy products and the tier A should be labeled bad vs. tier F = worst of the worst. listen to actual doctors and scientists having conducted pier reviewed (non-industry funded) studies - those are the people to learn from. i listend to his videos most of them were ok, but when I came across this one i just had to realize he’s going for clicks by showing people what they want to hear with googled information, rather than accurate health information. I repeat there is nothing good about dairy products - cheese being the worst highest processed among them - the consequences are felt in decades when it’s too late to reverse. just try to be open to look for uncomfortable information from actual professionals

On the topic of yogurts, as there can be a wide variety, I highly recommend Skyr, as it's very low in fats and very high in protein. It is a bit more expensive, but if you're looking to min-max your nutrition, it's something to consider
Buuut… I’m here for the fat!
Oh gimme all the fat, its the sugar im trying to dodge
Will you be doing a fermented food tier list? I'm not sure how you can compare them to each other but I would love to hear a nutrient summary of the most popular stuff
HAHA, I love that spaceballs reference at 15:20. I’m glad i caught it
Great video and honestly this series is one of the best things that's ever been put on TH-cam not exaggerating so many people need to know the nutritional information provided as well as hear the warnings of excess consumption and other details.
I'm looking to start putting more effort into my diet and increase my training so these videos are a nice way to find new ingredient options, plus I work too much to do as much research as you do I appreciate it very much
Love these videos! I hope there will be enough content for 20 more tier lists!
As I've gotten older, lactose has been less kind to me, but I do like to make 24 hour incubation yogurt in my instant pot and then strain it to make Greek yogurt. Something about the long incubation makes it easier to digest
As a bonus, I keep the whey to use for baking breads
Ghee, paneer (Cottage cheese), Yogurt (Dahi) and Matha (buttermilk) were a part of all meals for my grandfathers generation. Our generation ditched all that, and started living on butter, cheese, ice-cream, frozen yogurt, custard etc.
Indian foods are actually quite healthy
this generation is tik tok generation
I just want to say that I really appreciate your content and the effort you put into your videos. It really shows :)
I make "icecream" with cottage cheese, greek yoghurt, frozen fruit, and cream. If I'm feeling spicy I may add honey to it. It tastes like cheese cake.
Late reply, I’m so glad you made this list. I would always comment about dairy when you asked for lists we wanted. I love dairy! Thanks for the video! Hope your channel continues to do well!
if you skip to the end to see the full tier list, I implore you to watch the full video as there are crucial details influencing the rankings of them which you may not take into consideration like buying yoghurt since it's in the top tier but not hearing that most yoghurts have added sugars and are not good, the only yoghurt in the top tier is plain greek yoghurt
I absolutely love these tier lists, the dopamine hit is insane when my fridge is stacked with Top tier + A tier only. Keep up the good work king.
Loving these videos hope you continue doing a bunch of these. Btw I was thinking you could do a third series about good meal plans for different goals e.g cutting or buying or somet like that ya know 🙂
Yeah!
I'd love for you to make a tier list of breads like sourdough , rye ,whole wheat , bagels , baguette etc. love your tier list's its super informative , always waiting for the next one :))
Can't wait for the milks tier list! Even if almonds scored highly on the nuts tier list, will it score in the milk one? Can't wait to hear your opinion on it!
Veganism is unhealthy
@@ninjal7588 What's wrong with excess protein. I've never heard anyone bring that up as an issue.

A genuine cheese tier list, taking into account all the different cheese that exist in the world, would be a 3+ hour long video at least lol
I make a half gallon (~2L) a week and am subbing it out for the milk in my protein shake; its super easy and really just dump and go if you have the grains.
Fantastic content as always, I'm looking forward to your cheese Video. Keep up the great work.

Any thoughts on doing tier lists for:
Sauces
Herbs
Spices
Teas (re antioxidants, metabolic effects, sleep improvement, etc)
?
Take my vote for spices!
Another informative tier list, and I love the spaceballs reference
I strongly suggest kefir to be relocated to a super food category because of the unique bacteria contents it provides.
Or at least rank homemade kefir separately, it would rank s tier easily.. Way better than store bought
thanks for enabling me to keep greek yogurt and cottage cheese in my grocery rotation!!! 😎I was hoping those two would be in the top!
I'm glad to hear the probiotic health benefits, because I've read that dairy microbes die in your stomach before ever reaching the intestines. I'm still trying to figure out if we get the beneficial microbes all the way to our intestines with dairy. Looking forward to the cheeses list.
It's all about the dose, if you ingest enough some may survive to make it. Also keep in mind that bacteria can enter a sort of survival state from which they can recover as well
What do you think of Skyr and (low fat) quark? I am consuming those daily for their protein, but i have no knowledge about the micronutrients..😅
I know your tier list never includes brands of products, but I'd love to see a tier list for manufactured cereals, chips or maybe even snack foods in general.
Thanks for this video! Please make root plants tier list. Like potato, sweet potato, beet, cassava, etc.
I had a gastrectomy, which makes getting nutrients quite an adventure. Cottage cheese is amazing - high protein, easy to digest, very low sugar, full of nutrients I struggle to get. My favorite!
I've had a total gastrectomy too and agree about cottage cheese, but ricotta has even more protein.
@@sheilamulcahy2781 How do you eat the ricotta? Just plain? I'd love your ideas.
@@nariu7times328 The same as the cottage cheese, on crackers, fruit, pasta. I agree, eating is a challenge. My gallbladder is gone too and my panc doesnt work very well either. Its a mess.

Loving rhse . Maybe you could also do a series comparing diets like ketogenic and whatnot and tell us how good they are or how bad
Thanks for another great vid. I look forward to your cheese tier list.
Fad dietists fuming rn.
They want *soo badly* for dairy to be bad for you.
I can't wait for the list of cheeses

The American Dairy Association is how dairy got to be its own food group
I think we can all agree that the Food Pyramid needs to be scrapped.
I exclusively drink cow milk
It's a decent source of protein, but more importantly, it tastes amazing, and you can get extra calories in if you're bulking.

You should do tier lists for different brands of the same product, I’d love to see a protein bar tier list for example

Ice Cream may be F tier in nutrition, but it's top tier in our childhood memories

Thank you. You're helping me so much, be healthier, and bulk up.
