My new GLE 450e has a serious safety issue. Picked up my new 2024 GLE 450e with 8 miles on it on 6/26/24. Inspection at pickup was unremarkable. WIthin two hours, with 16 miles on it, the hood latch alarm activated. visual inspection showed right side of hood was raised about 1/4 inch above fender. Drove directly to dealer, and service tech opened and closed hood, commenting on the light lever feel. Drove in parking lot with tech and the hood unlatched on its own. I now have a loaner, and the future of this car is yet to be determined. How did this car pass inspections at the factory and at the dealer?
Thanks for the comprehensive review. I especially love the EV range. My 2022 BMW 45e consistently gets 35 EV miles. The DC charge access would make a trip really economical.
As an X5 PHEV owner, the only two things I like about the GLE PHEV is, the DC fast charging, surely helps in long trips to top up the EV range than hauling around a dead battery! Second for sure is the rear seat leg room. The X5 leg room while sufficient is barely bigger than a midsize CUV. Sedans like Accord and Camry have way more rear leg room. Not sure how BMW screwed up the rear leg room. But in all other aspects, the BMW outclasses this Benz easily.
I was about to order the new 2024 BMW X5 50e, but decided the exterior styling is getting long in the tooth... The interior is beautiful but the exterior definitely needs a total re-design and major update. This new GLE 450e is the one for me, although with nicer wheels....
Pretty sure the X5 50e is better given the way better engine, standard air suspension, better handling, way better reliability from what I've heard. The small decrease in EV range is acceptable because it's still enough to cover most people's daily driving.
I have yet to try that one out. Do you know if it stays in EV easily? This one stayed basically unless you drive over 140kmh or put your foot to the floor. I literally used no fuel for a week while driving it daily in my usual routine. Pretty awesome. Haven’t been able to make it to moms there and back with any PHEV yet other than this one
@@EverydayReviews2022 I have the X50e if you check my page. To answer your question it does stay in EV easily in hybrid mode unless you really floor it. It also has an EV only button that will never use the gas. Mine gets 55 miles of electric range in the summer and 45 in the winter...BMW underrated it. Last but not least my X50e has full self driving on the highway. No touching the wheel every 30 seconds...So to wrap it up the tech is also way better in the BMW
@@EverydayReviews2022- I have the X5 45e and get 28-30 miles EV range in winters and 35-43 miles in summers. BMW surely underrated it. Yes it can stay in EV only mode through a selectable button upto 83 mph, but there is a dipswitch that will fire up the B58 engine if the gas pedal is floored in whichever mode it is. The changes are imperceptible between EV and ICE. Love the growl that initially comes on when the B58 fires up. The new 50e is a much better PHEV compared to this Benz. Plus for like to like configuration, the Benz is $7-8K more expensive!
Well its been said that the faster charging degrades the battery quicker however there are people out there that have been fast charging to 100% for the life of their EV with very little effect of degradation compared to 80-90% slow charging.
I think the BMW X5 50e is the best PHEV for 2024 - not the GLE 450e. Yes, BMW's gets 10 miles less electric only range at 40 miles, but the BMW gas engine is bigger when your battery is empty ... and the BMW performance in electric, hybrid and sport are all vastly superior comparatively. The GLE 450e is just too slow.

Did that truck just stop and stare at you talking to your camera, LOL... Great review like usual! Appreciate the down south conversions! :)
😜
Good review, please review the X5 50e also and a side by side comparison would be great!
I've put in the request. Hopefully we can get one.

Couldn't agree more. I have forward facing baby seats, and as the kids grow, my room up front is gradually diminished.

Great review. Shopping around and stuck between this model and the X5.
Excellent review
Amazing Review!! Thank you
Great review. Picking mine up tonight! Can't wait
Enjoy! It’s pretty well perfect. What color did you get?
@@EverydayReviews2022 Twilight blue with Bahia Brown interior
Nice combo!
I'm about to order one.. How many miles give you in hybrid mode without electric!!!
Nice
Does massage actually massage? Or is it just air bags that inflate and then deflate?
I have a loaner right now, it’s just air bags. My 2024 AMG GLE 53 has legit massage. This model and package is refined but also really boring.
“{9-sp. automatic transmission} It’s not like a CVT….” Thank The Blessed Creator for that!
This car is the best !Second best luxury selling car on the planet .First is Mercedes’ Glc.Great job Mercedes.
有 GLE 63e ?

@@dgdave2673 Thanks, Looking forward to driving it. I love the BMW EVs right now. Just finished up with the i 5 M60. What a great drive
What oil weight does this unit runs on ? 0w-20 ?
That I do not know. Don't normally check that.
450e 指的是? Is it mean?
How does frequent fast charging affects the battery lifecycle and performance

The ultimate range is quite poor at 640 KM!!
