1) You are in control of your ability to learn. 2) You are NOT in control on your ability to learn. 3) Effort: An important part of learning Challenges: perserve and work through them Mistakes: Treat them as a learning opportunity Feedback: like a s use it 4) Effort: Something you do when you're not good Challenges: give up and check out Mistakes: gate making them and try to avoid making them Feedback: take it personal, get defensive 5) first, they belief that they can learn. With this belief, they are more likely to put in the action to accomplish a goal. People like this love feedback and want to put in the work. With this, they see progress and they see results. This confirms their belief. 6) The brain is a lot like a muscle because it learns by DOING. Muscles develope when you push them to the brink of failure, much like how our brains develope. Your brain is meant to grow when it is being stretched and challenged. 7) False. When you're in your comfort zone, you are not pushed to survive and thrive. Your skills won't develope like they would if you were outside of this zone. When things are just given to you, you don't train or learn from your own mistakes. If you were to operate within your comfort zone, you will never be able to reach your ceiling and grow beyond your own expectations. 8) It's best to be the wild tiger over the tiger in the zoo. Because the wild tiger will develope skills using it's tools given to them, which will lead them to be successful. The zoo tiger was given its food and shelter and didn't have to work to keep itself alive. If this tiger were to be put in the wild, it likely would not survive because it did not develope any skills or experience. Even though both tigers were gifted the same tools, one the wild tiger developed and trained by going through the path of difficulty to prosper.
Wow! I didn't read the other comments because I wanted to be fresh with my own but after I wrote mine I went back to see what other people had written. I have NEVER seen so consistently enthusistic positive comments on a video! This is awesome. It is a great example of the law of attraction, that the world mirrors what you put out. Again, kudos to you for a wonderful job .This video could be world-changing! Wait, already is changing peoples lives so changing the world! Woo hoo!
This is so true, i had to fix my car, i began to take it apart. (I have almost no experiance with cars) Then i gave up beacuse of i got some problems. And i didnt believe in my self at all. But then i watched this kind of videos and begun to think that i already had fixed the car. Days later i forced my self to try again and believe in my self. And i made it, i fixed it and i realized that it wasnt even hard.
I am absolutely obsessed with this. You provide some of the most useful information in all of the newsletters I receive from trainers and coaches. The information and value that you provide is something I aspire to work towards! Absolutely love it. Thank you :)
Goodness this is probably one of the best videos I've watched. I'm doing a big study and self improvement and this helps a whole lot! Keep up the amazing work!
A struggle is how a fixed mindset perceives, a challenge is how a growth mindset perceives, sometimes that’s the only difference, the state of being or perspective of the one perceiving
Hi Trevor, Your video is very dynamic, engaging, and educational -- have referred many others to it. I read Carol Dweck's book (Mindset) several years ago and continue to teach parents and other educators about her work. Her ideas changed my life and many of the students I worked with. This video, as well as others you have made, really got me motivated to tell others about her work. I combine Dweck's teachings with other authors work like "Make It Stick" (author-Henry C. Brown), Dan Ariely's "Predictably Irrational", Malcolm Gladwell's "Outliers", and an oldie, but a goodie "How to Talk So Kids Can Learn". Thank you for your intense, professional, and highly motivating work!
This is hilarious. I had to do this as a student. I really hope this is a parody of inspirational videos because there are so many tropes and cliches. it is the epitome of "generic inspirational video." I haven't gotten to the end, so I really hope he talks about the power of friendship at some point.
Dude, not cool. If it already helps motivating some people it's already a succes. I highly doubt this video demotivates anyone. In case you know better, please share your wisdom rather than degrading someone's effort. I personally really like his videos. Keep it up!
I've sat here for 45 minutes, drunk off my ass, trying to complete this assignment. There's just no way I can listen to this overly enthusiastic dude talk for 20 minutes.
wow, really motivating! Everyone can improve if he believes in that and works for it! But I also think that people do have talents for certain sports or whatever due to the way we are born, the physicals we have, the environment we are born into (not every tiger has the luck to be born in the jungle...). Great viedeo anyways!
You are funny( at the gym) clear, great to listen to, this is an excellent learning video! Your energy is passionate, enthusiastic and yet still controlled, easy to follow and professional. Thank you SO much for creating this excellentcvideo. Every company and school shpuld definitely include this in their cirriculum and we can empower the world!! Too much? NO, its true! True if people get it and get it and do it, there is no limit to lifelong learning. I am sending this to everyone I know! I got that look in my eyes, I wanna see rats! Ha! You are an awesome addition to this world. I hope alot alot ALOT of people listen and learn from you!! Well done!!! But you really do need to up the poundage your weights. 😁
The title "Teaching a Growth Mindset: Unleashing the Learning Machine" encompasses a discourse on the vital skill of learning and the pivotal role belief plays in cultivating effective learners. The introduction underscores learning as a paramount skill, with the key insight that successful learning hinges on the belief that one can achieve it. This distinction leads to an exploration of the fixed mindset versus the growth mindset, as delineated by Carol Dweck's research. The attributes of a growth mindset, characterized by embracing challenges, valuing mistakes, and actively seeking feedback, are expounded upon. The self-fulfilling cycle of learning is presented, highlighting how belief influences action, results, and reinforces belief. The dynamic nature of growth mindset in action is detailed, showcasing how belief propels effort, persistence, and continuous improvement. Conversely, the detrimental impact of a fixed mindset, marked by limited belief in learning, is examined. Drawing parallels with survival skills of tigers in different environments, the analogy elucidates the importance of challenging oneself outside the comfort zone. Transforming beliefs is emphasized, encompassing the power of facing challenges, creating a growth-oriented environment, and the brain's capacity to learn akin to muscle development. The narrative then debunks notions of inherent talent, asserting that anyone can excel through embracing challenges and cultivating belief. The conclusion underscores the necessity of rejecting limiting narratives and embracing a growth mindset for effective learning.
anyone elses teacher assign this, and you groaned at the 20 minute long video youve been forced to watch?
