- This week we're following the River Dee through the stunning scenery of Royal Deeside in Scotland. Come with us to places that would have been familiar to Queen Victoria, and see some of the memorials to her that are still dotted around in almost every town and village.

What a great trip! Thank you both (and Deniro) for taking us along on these fabulous trips!
Our pleasure!
Loved the river shots! And that gorgeous castle and grounds, amazing! Some very interesting facts on grave stones. Thank you Bex and Ian, and lets not forget DeNiro! 🥰
Our pleasure!
The bridge was incredible, post card is correct. The carvings are an added touch. Enjoyed the graveyard. Ol'John is likely hiding in a special spot. Very glad he was part of Queen Victoria's lonely years. I believe he softened her and took little guff.
Such a beautiful place, so fortunate you shared.
Thank you. That graveyard is just beautiful.
Thanks for watching this wee episode of Scotland on a Shoestring, we hope you've enjoyed it !! A huge thank you to everyone who's supported us through Ko-Fi or Patreon.

That was a lovely trip. We were in the Cairngorms in 2022 but didn't make it to Deeside. One day...
It’s a stunning part of the world, we’ve not been very often in the past but it’s definitely somewhere we’ll return to.
Beck I have my husband trained to make my coffee first thing in the morning. That way when I arise I can have a fresh cup. My grandchildren and I love making blueberry scones to go with my coffee and their tea. Dizzy, no need to apologize for saying "Picture Postcard Perfect". This was a most accurate description of the scenery of Royal Deeside. Thank you for taking us along on your adventure. Give DeNiro a pat for us.
Thank you for the kind words. Blueberry scones sound lovely!!
Another lovely trip, thank you. A much enjoyed stamping ground of ours back in the day. A beautiful part of the Highlands.
It really is. The west coast gets all the fame but this bit is even nicer :)
Laughed out loud at your naughty remarks! Great little road trip, contained two of my favourite things..Charity shops and Coffee shops..oh and some lovely scenery and pretty towns.
No idea what you mean 😜
Georgous episode! Great photography and area. Loved the history and coffee shops!❤😊
Thanks so much!
Thanks for showing us Royal Deeside. Beautiful area
Our pleasure!
Wow, that was brilliant. Really enjoyed all the scenery. You definitely have to try this wee experiment again. Thanks for taking us as well😁
We’re going to give it another go next month.
That is a beautiful river!
Thank you for showing it from all directions.
The squirrel was cute. At my door the red squirrels are the cutest. The grey and black don’t have the same personality.
The wild turkeys make up for all the rest.
Bye for now 👋🇨🇦👋
We’ve learnt something today thanks!!!! We never knew black squirrels were a thing :)
Wonderful place 🩷 The Braemar Games have been on my itinerary for years now, I really enjoyed this look around.
Thank you. We do love a Highland Games, we’re off to Bute later this month for their 10k race then we’re going to enjoy the games.
Lovely Deeside . Abergeldie Castle at 20:51 was nearly washed away in the 2016 storms . Love a visit to Finzean farm shop . Really enjoyed watching this, was only up Deeside a couple weeks ago.
Thank you. We’d love to get a closer look at that castle, it’s in a stunning setting.
Love the small jewellers shop in blairgowrie.......nice people, good service and good prices...........p.s......im not affiliated with them in any way
There are a few nice wee shops there. Looking forward to getting back for a proper explore.
I'd like to get that Saint Bernard dog statue for our front porch. Great video, well done!
The strangest thing was there was a real one standing just over the road :) wasn’t brave enough to film it.
Yes you have to be very careful what drone footage to expect on the Estates of Deeside, as it has been known for one to be taken down by a shot-gun discharge after flying too close to a certain castle of extreme interest to visitors and foreigners alike.
Yep, not worth the risk, not with so
much other amazing stuff to see.
Please define plebs
A “pleb” is an ordinary, common person like us :) It dates back to Roman times apparently.
Ever tried carving a smile on an otter with a chainsaw? 😄
I would if I could get the bugger to stand still for long enough :)
