I have been working on my granny squares for 2 months. I have 50 squares done so far. I have all 32 chunky thread colors. I bought my chunky thread at Fat Quarter Shop. I have loved working on these granny squares. My aunt is who taught me how to crochet and with doing this project I am remembering all the fun I use to have with her when we would sit and stitch together. When I finish my afghan I am going to gift it to her

That afghan is beautiful. Reminds me of when I would stay at my grandmas house, she would work her yarn as she called it watching Johnny Carson. I would like to thank you for showing us how to make granny square’s with your chunky thread’s. After watching your video I ordered your chunky thread from fat quarter shop and I have been making the granny square’s on Sunday evenings. I have to undo them a lot but I don’t let that stop me. I’m going to make mine for my bedroom and I hope to have it done by Christmas. Thank you again for sharing this with us. It is absolutely beautiful.

I just love your Chunky Thread!! I am having a blast making granny squares. The granny square was the very first crochet block that my grandmother taught me. My tension is improving with each square. I fell in love with this afghan from the very beginning, but I especially love how you did the borders. It was so unexpected. So far I only have 19 of the Chunky Thread colors. I bought every color that was available from about 6 different sources. Fat Quarter Shop, your Etsy shop and a few other Etsy shop vendors. Because I ordered the skeins from so many different vendors, my husband was wondering what all of the packages were that were being delivered at different times. LOL! He understood once I started making the granny squares. I haven't told him that I still need more to finish the afghan!! Can't wait to get all of the remaining colors. Thank you Lori for putting so much of yourself into these projects. You are awesome!

I got it from fat quarter shop. I love the size of the yarn! I also love the feel of 100% cotton. I love the chunky thread, love the greens and yellows!!! Well all the colors are magnificent. I have been making granny squares, and I am up to 68!!!!! I got the chunky thread as a gift from a friend, she got it at fat quarter shop. I already did a little pillow 12 x12 and also a 5x5 pincushion. Inspiration is coming when am waling the beaches and yesterday I was in the water in the Gulf of Mexico and the water was such a pretty turquoise and there were lots of sand dollars, so I came home and look for turquoise and blues with greens and sand colors!!! and made a square!!! Thank you for the insperation that you give me!!!!

Teaching my 2 lovely American granddaughters( 12 & 9 ) to crochet using chunky thread, which they brought over to England for me, we are having so much fun , not going to be able to do an Afghan , but have settled on cushions for their rooms , they are with us for the Summer , haven’t seen them since 2019, so we have a lot of time too make up for. Not going to miss a minute with them. Liz T.

I bought my first chunky thread back in 2018 from Fat Quarter Shop when you and Kimberly Jolly were working on a different granny square type afghan. I tried multiple times but couldn’t get it figured out because I didn’t really know how to crochet. I started and ripped it apart 4 times. All those bits were perfect for granny square blocks 😜 Now that I’ve watched your tutorials I can crochet! (At least I can do granny squares) I’ve since bought more chunky thread from your Etsy store and Fat Quarter shop. My mother in law was amazing at crochet and she did try to teach me - I feel like I’m doing this to carry on her gift. Thanks for showing me how to do it!

While stuck inside the house during Indiana’s blizzard of 1979, my Mama (grandma) taught me how to crochet. I finished a yellow, orange, and green afghan while snowed in. Looking back, that color combo was not the best. I did not pick up a crochet hook again until now. Your videos and the colors of the chunky thread have enticed me to attempt to crochet again. I remember nothing of what my Mama taught me about crocheting so have been most appreciative of your patient, calm voice teaching step-by-step. Your colors of chunky thread are modern yet classic and could be improved in only one way, in my opinion, by adding lovely shades of plum and purple. Fat quarter shop is where am trying to purchase supplies as they become available. Thank you for all you do for the crocheting, quilting, and cross stitchers of the world!

Hi Lori - really enjoy your videos - you are a good teacher and a great inspiration! Your chunky thread colors are wonderful and remind me of the colors your use in your cross stitich patterns which I enjoy doing also. My mom taught myself and my 2 daughters how to crochet and she was a master at it herself! I have wonderful crochet items of hers and she had 6 daughters who all sew and enjoy working with their hands and being creative. I love the reds the most in your chunky thread colors and love to pair with the nutmeg, linen, pebble and cloud. All colors are happy colors and go fast at FQS where I get them so I am pleased to know more are coming! Have enjoyed your book for several years and have made wonderful 24' pillow covers and more. Enjoy all you do - Thank you Lori

I am so happy to see granny squares making a come back. My first ever crochet project was a granny square poncho in junior high back in the early 70’s. I have sadly, not had the chance to crochet yet with your chunky thread (yarn). I am reading so many wonderful comments about your chunky thread. I love the color selections, and especially using the color linen as the main (sashing) color. I will add my order to FQS once I decide on the colors to order. Maybe one each! I would love to make your afghan. Thank you Lori for your tutorials.

I bought some chunky thread to make flowers for my featherweight machine (Miss Lillie, after my aunt) and my friend's machine too. I love the chunky thread and will be buying more when I can afford it to make more granny squares. Years ago I made afghan out of one giant granny square. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with us.

I have been making granny squares for more years than l care to mention! Every summer we end up with a new blanket or quilt on the beach for the chilly evenings.
I love the chunky yarn, but being in the UK it is not easy to get all the colours as they sell out so quick, luckily my daughters friend lives in the USA and kindly sends supplies to me, frosting is my favourite colour 💕
I am looking forward to seeing the next crochet project! X🧶

I have been working furiously, since June 1st, on my granny squares using Chunky Threads. I’ve used 28 colors and have 132 squares completed. I think I want to make 216 just like you did Lori. I’m using Pebble as my block borders as Linen was unavailable. I purchased mainly from Fat Quarter Shop and Etsy. This thread is a joy to work with. I was a little nervous at first since I hadn’t crocheted in years. I’ll be a little nervous with the scalloped border, but I’ll go back and rewatch this tutorial. Your tutorials were and inspiration. I’m also sewing my great granny square sew along. Thanks Lori for sharing your knowledge.

I love granny square crochet blankets. I received one for a wedding gift from an in-law member. It was all different bright colors and was sewn together in black thread. I have many colors of your Chunky thread and enjoy the packs from FQS. It gives you a variety of colors. I purchased them last year and was so glad as now you are sold out. Have a great summer Lori stay healthy and safe. LOL Hugs from Minnesota....

My older sister taught me to crochet when I was a little girl, and the first thing she showed me was the granny square. It’s time to make a crocheted blanket! The colors of your Chunky Thread are so pretty together, I wasn’t sure about the Linen color but your stunning blanket convinced me. I especially like the Song bird and Frosting colors 🥰 I will get some from Fat Quarter shop and then let the fun begin! Thank for your fun videos and clear instructions. 🌷

I have never used chunky thread. I’ve crocheted a lot of granny squares as a young person. The knitting mushroom is a really cute idea. Love your videos and all the beautiful colors of your fabric a your chunky thread. Great explanations.

I love how you finished the blanket. On your little project it looks on film like an optical illusion. It looks as though dark blue side is larger. It makes it very unique and cool. I haven’t bought any chunky thread yet because I know it’s extremely popular at the moment. I will wait later so I can pick and order colors I want. I want to make a cute granny square purse. I have started a granny square blanket in colors of dark blue, gold, terracotta colors in other yarn. I have arthritis and recovering from carpal tunnel surgery so I can only crochet for a small bit of time. Thank you for you wonderful positive and your tutorials on everything crafty.

I really like Angela, very sweet girl. I love when she talks about her little girl. She sounds so adorable. Thank You so much for all you teach us. 💕

I learned to make granny squares from my grandmother as well and, You have inspired me to make a fusion granny square and denim afghan using cotton thread from my stash and your chunky thread in linen for the border. I am having a blast making all these granny squares again.
Funny you were talking about color inspiration for making the squares, I made one using the colors from my grandsons diaper box… it’s one of my favorites 😂. Color inspiration is everywhere. Thank U ! for all of the inspiration you give in your videos, I have started so many new projects. Loving it ❣️

This so beautiful. I have not been able to quilt, crochet, or cross stitch for more than a year because of massive tendinitis and shoulder surgery. Finally the healing is to a point where I can a little of everything so will look forward to ordering some chunky yarn but the colors are so beautiful it will be hard to choose so my grand daughters will definitely be consulted. Thank you for sharing your talents.

I loved doing the chickens. I Love the linen color chunky yarn for the background. It makes it feel very comforting. Thanks again for all your videos.

That quilt look so beautiful with all those flowers. I haven't gotten any chunky yarn yet, but if I had some I would make a quilt for my bed. I would love to make some place mats for tea parties that my daughter and I have. ♥️

Lori, you have motivated me so much; I thoroughly enjoy your video's for crochet and quilting!
I love the Chunky Yarn, I only have 4 skeins thus far, but look forward to adding to the collection, when I can.
Fat Quarter Shop is a great place to order from, I have even called the shop with questions before and they
are so helpful; there is a sweet fellowship between crafters. Keep making these wonderful tutorials. Bee well now!
