It's great that they made it a slider and not just a ON/OFF setting, some people like it, some people want some of it, and some people want it completely off. Great Insomniac!
The swinging's amazing and all, but they actually added some grunts and breaths while he's swinging like the Assassin's Creed games do, and I think that's cool.
And people were complaining about the web swinging being more of the same lol, His swinging animations alone are different without the air tricks NGL after playing with Peter's web swinging in this game, I can't go back to the first game, this web swinging is perfect. Miles air tricks and swinging animations are the same wich I don't mind because it's perfect just the way it is
It’s hard to tell if there’s any difference from a video unless they go out of their way to showcase it, but in game you really feel the changes. It’s for sure way better than the first game.
The only thing about the swinging that still bothers me is the ability to immediately begin running up a wall no matter the angle and speed you hit it. It would be nice to see the zero assist mode implement a forced stop on walls option to more realistically show the inertia when landing into a wall at a bad angle it’s very jarring. That said if you’re good enough you can prevent this from happening so I can’t wait to get in there. They really killed it by including the zero assist mode.
True, tbh I've thought that the pandemic must've had an effect on the dev for this game, like they had to focus on certain priorities, maybe for the third one, it'll be more of a change compared to the first two.
You'd THINK you want that but in execution that would be a terrible gameplay element. It would completely disrupt the traversal system and the overall flow of the game. You'd essentially be slamming into walls a good 99 percent of the time because of how fast spiderman moves. Then you'd be complaining about the feature citing the aforementioned reasons.

Love traversal in the game it’s amazing, one thing I thing would be cool , is if your running up a wall you should be able to shoot webs while running/ swinging .Hopefully they implement a feature like this in MS 3
Tbh I like the 0 swing assist but it’s more useful around taller buildings. In the lower ground buildings you have to point launch to get around or you gonna keep hitting the ground with that low altitude or use the web wings

Anyway I really liked the first two Insomniac games but more so for the combat (have a couple of Miles Morales videos myself) rather than swinging which feels way too limited after a while in contrast to combat which is awesome imo. Spidey 2 swinging looks promising (and this video is the first one that impressed me!) but still feels like Insomniac could have gone a lot more creative with it for the more sandbox side of the experience.

It's amazing how they really carried over elements of movement and momentum into the Spider-Man games. In fact, those games really are the best culmination of the stuff they've learned and developed from Ratchet and Clank and Sunset Overdrive!
Personally I think I'll keep it off completely, only reason why is because I absolutely hate it when Spider-Man Floats up above the ground when swinging low instead of it just smacking you straight into it, I like having complete control over my movements

And by the looks of it insomniac had this for spiderman 2018, as in they had to code in all the padding. Seems like they just "turned it off". I thought it was somewhat noticeable. Whether if it's good or bad, it's a little hard to say, I do find myself touching the ground from time to time, but it's probably just a skill issue for me as I'm not used to it yet. I guess it's a little challenging, but in a pretty interesting way I guess. I also have fall damage on, so if you're too late shooting a web, you're probably gonna face plant.
It's noticeable in mostly a good way. At first, I was frequently hitting the ground but then I got used to it, I was having fun. I actually started thinking more about when to let go of a web, and when to shoot the next one. When you combine that with the web wings and enabled fall damage, I think this is the closest thing we have to a modern rendition of the system in the original Spider-Man 2 game.
Imo its very noticeable, in a good way. I've never really liked the first game's swinging. Its amazing don't get me wrong but it was way too hand holdy for my liking, felt like the game was doing everything for me. I got pretty bored of swinging after a few years. But with Swing Assist off it completely changes that for me, SM2's swinging is the same as the first game and SMM but being able to turn off swing assist gives me almost exactly what I wanted although not fully. Got sidetracked but the things that are noticeably different are that you get pulled into the direction your web is attached to. The height your webs attach to now matter, If you shoot out a web too late you'll hit the ground. Steering around buildings and objects Is no longer guided, you'll slam into poles and just generally anything a lot more. Lastly that annoying floating mechanic that prevents you from hitting the ground is removed, so you can finally swing low now. Even in between cars once you get the hang of swinging. Its definitely Hard which could be seen as a positive and a negative, its much more Satisfying swinging around nearly hitting trees and objects but being able to be in control and move out of the way instead of the game doing it for you.

I think the swinging in the first game was a good base to go from, however, in all the efforts to make you look cool as Spider-Man, they went a bit too far with the hand holding. To their credit, the devs did figure workarounds over sone stuff that were a pain in older games. It's nice to see that they decided to cater to fans of both systems this time.
The point of the assist was to make it so swinging took a bit of skill the lower you turned it. Making harder but more rewarding was the entire point of the assist. And dw it doesn’t take long to get good at
When swing assist is off, how fast you go is up to you. You actually have to build up momentum yourself instead of the game doing it for you. If you look at gameplay with swing assist on swing speed is very consistent since you don't have to worry about trying to gain momentum as much as you do when its off. I’m terrible at explaining things so I’d recommend watching a video explaining how it works but just to simplify it, Swing Assist on Is like having Spider-Man do all the work for you so you can just shut your brain off and mindlessly swing around. Swing Assist off is the complete opposite, you’re hand is no longer being held and you have complete control over how Spider-Man moves around. Including having your mistakes no longer be course corrected.

9/10 game it’s just the wing suit and tunnels take away from spider man he never used a wing suit everything is perfect besides that it makes it unrealistic especially miles miles already uses an electric boost that makes him fly why give him a wing suit as well?
Spiderman has used web wings before lmfao, In newer movies and in comics, also miles can't use his venom dash forever. That's what the wings are for, to help him move around when he can't use his powers. Web wings are an amazing addition to the game
It’s personal preference tbh if you enjoy the full 10 than 0 that’s on you enjoy but after putting it on 0 for a bit and just swinging around and getting the hang of it for a bit it’s much better imo than having it on, and for me at least there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference at 1 5 or 10 but 0 you feel the difference automatically and honestly can’t go back to assist on
You're only able to do it after dive bombing, can't continuously do loop de loops just by normal swinging. Also sadly you can only do one loop de loop. Can't hold onto it and do multiple before letting go

If you put it to 1 you have the same physics, but you also keep the invisible ground barrier that prevents you from touching the ground
or you can just time and position your swings

Id say swing assist on 3 is the sweet spot. You can swing extremely fast with momentum while not having a drastic change.

Keep in mind the "Swing Assist" is not disabled by default. You have to go to the game settings and there's a slider for it from 0 - 10.

Lets say I start swinging and the web attaches to the left, If you want to swing straight or in the middle you pull the stick to the right.

I tried with swing assist low and it just seems like u swing so much slower. So I put it around eight and it felt faster

I’m terrible at explaining things so I’d recommend watching a video explaining how it works but just to simplify it, Swing Assist on Is like having Spider-Man do all the work for you so you can just shut your brain off and mindlessly swing around. Swing Assist off is the complete opposite, you’re hand is no longer being held and you have complete control over how Spider-Man moves around. Including having your mistakes no longer be course corrected.

9/10 game it’s just the wing suit and tunnels take away from spider man he never used a wing suit everything is perfect besides that it makes it unrealistic especially miles miles already uses an electric boost that makes him fly why give him a wing suit as well?
Spiderman has used web wings before lmfao, In newer movies and in comics, also miles can't use his venom dash forever. That's what the wings are for, to help him move around when he can't use his powers. Web wings are an amazing addition to the game

It’s personal preference tbh if you enjoy the full 10 than 0 that’s on you enjoy but after putting it on 0 for a bit and just swinging around and getting the hang of it for a bit it’s much better imo than having it on, and for me at least there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference at 1 5 or 10 but 0 you feel the difference automatically and honestly can’t go back to assist on

Is their loop to loop like Spider-Man 2, this is the right step to fix the pussy foot swinging of the last two games, but is it og Spider-Man 2
You're only able to do it after dive bombing, can't continuously do loop de loops just by normal swinging. Also sadly you can only do one loop de loop. Can't hold onto it and do multiple before letting go
0 swing assist is easy
Compared to Spider-Man 2 ( 2004 ) Yeah its pretty easy, but still harder than swinging with Swing Assist on
