  • My POS Ford... I mean OBS Ford doesn't like to run in this cold winter weather. Can we sort it out? Maybe we can deal with some of the myriad other issues along the way, such as the oil leaks, coolant leaks, thermostat, sketchy DIY wiring, etc.

    Fun fact, all the 7.3L HEUI injectors in these engines were designed & manufactured by Caterpillar at their Pontiac, IL plant. I don’t know the entire history but I know there is a lot of Caterpillar DNA in the 7.3’s like you mentioned. Cat still makes these injectors on the same assembly line and sells them to an aftermarket company (Alliant Power). My dad rebuilt the 7.3 in his F450 and I was able to get the used injectors on the test stands to check the figures. Cat still had the original injector test data back from 2002 when they were brand new. He ended up replacing them with new Alliant Powers because they slowed down a lot over the years and one was definitely on its way out. I just figured I would share as a lot of people don’t know this.

    That seat looks exactly like the bucket seat in my old Ford van. I was at this guy's place one day buying a Ford C-6 transmission core to rebuild and there's a bunch of stuff under a tarp in his driveway. We are chatting and my wife lifts the tarp up and here is this gorgeous set of buckets out of a Ford Fusion in perfect condition. Motorized drivers seat. The guy says to my wife you want those seats? I want my driveway back so twenty five dollars for the pair. It was a huge project mating them up to the original pedestals, there was just nothing about those two that naturally came together, but man is it sweet to sit back and adjust that driver's seat to perfection.

    Unfortunately, your Ford Dealer sold you the wrong IPR valve. The missing part you showed in the video is the edge filter. The later 7.3L had the filter relocated into the high pressure pump. The truck will run fine but there is the risk of debris entering the IPR valve and causing it to stick.

    • @WatchWesWork
      @WatchWesWork  4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      That's actually because I ordered that IPR for a later model truck that had roughly the same issue. The IPR I ordered for my truck was not in stock at the time I was filming this so I had to do a switcheroo later. But you are correct and I should have showed the correct part.

    Have you pulled out the computer and made sure that the caps inside arent leaking? I had a 1991 F250 with a 351 and I had to solder in new caps on the board, it is a common issue with the boards and the caps being old.

    In fairness to our friend Andrew, I have seen all of his videos, and I have not seen any kind of "hacking" near as bad as your fuel system. In fact, many of his videos show him to be quite "fussy" about wiring. Especially for his trailers, which is a safety thing.. He does lack "subtlety" on some reapirs, but lets face it. He is working on old trucks and construction equipment. I am certain things are different when he is working on his mom's car, because you know he does..
