Update at 10,000 miles in 10 months. I understand there will be some people calling me names on TH-cam. I'm not surprised. But for the other Honda owners. Here is the continuous long term at 10,000 miles. I'd done the 2nd oil change and 1st tires rotation at the Honda dealer where I'd purchased this CRV; $72.12 included tax. And the 2017 CRV recall done at the same time. I was told by Honda, not all 2017 CRV has this problem, only some. The manufacture recall was done at Honda dealer at no cost: Fuel Feed Pipe Leak. For those people think I'm making up this story. Here, go read it yourself.....static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RCRIT-17V442-6862.pdf. Or Owners, Honda Manufacture will call you multiple times on your registered owner's contact numbers. I was in Africa last month, and Honda left me at least 5 massages to make sure I do follow up with the recall. Honda also sent the recall letters to my home as well. After 10,000 miles, the CVT jerks a bit less and runs a bit smoother, but still jerks a bit in the morning when it first started. Just to be fair, my other 2 Toyota Prius did the same from time to time. No other issue so far. Back to the Honda touchscreen, remains no change , slow but it works. The bluetooth connections work well with iPhone, no change. But with Samsung or other Androids the connections is unreliable at times, no change just like the day I bought it. Touchscreen remains slow, flickers from time to time and sometimes won't turn on when outside temp is at low 30F. Don't panic, just restart the engine and it will turn back on . Eventually the flickering stopped.....so far. Thank God.
I've had a 2017 CRV since June of last year. I'm surprised that the excessive engine noise problem was not addressed in this video. Engine noise has increased after a few thousand miles. My first and last Honda.
Loving this new look for the CR-V, it looks premium especially with the Escalade-like LED turning indicators in the tail lights.. Just curious as to why Honda didn't give the same premium looks to the 2018 Odyssey and Accord (which are supposed to be more premium than the CR-V).

Yeah, I've seen several of her reviews and they tend to be based on subjective emotions over objective facts or practicality. Judges and reviewers should be as impartial as possible. I do think the CX5 and Tucson are better looking, but the CRV is objectively better in almost every other category.
Really concerned about the cvt. Heard of gas in the oil. Was thinking of buying one. I don’t know now. The whole point of a Honda is reliability. Doesn’t sound like it anymore.
I negotiated a 2018 Honda CRV EX for a friend this week. Her first new car in more than 10 years, she wanted the best for the category. Since I work in the automotive industry and get to drive all kinds of cars, the Mazda CX5, the Hyundai Tucson and the Honda CR-V are the best. The Mazda is for the best and most accurate handling. The Tucson is the lightest, more miserly and looks the best to me, then there is the Honda CR-V, which will if following normal Honda trends, last a very long time and is quite easy to live with. If I needed car though and space wasn't that big of a deal, the Mazda CX5 would be my favorite.
Great review and I have seen others complaining about the noise. I've never found CRVs to be even remotely loud and who is riding around without listening to music? I just don't get this complaint.
I live in Colorado and leave for work at about 4am, the past few days it was 8 degrees and the engine was loosing heat at idle thus loosing heat in the cabin, this is a problem.
Still don't see how a couple of superficial accessories in the Hyundai is good enough to push the CRV off its top SUV spot. Hyundai offering you guys a long term test vehicle?
Should have done an oil analysis to see how much gas got into the oil. Its a major issue on this model. I would stay away from the CRV like the plague. Honda destroyed this model with a CVT and a turbo.
How did you get black interior with the molten lava exterior? The Honda website says you can only get ivory interior. I want the black interior but not have to get the white, black or Olive green exterior.

4:18-4:36 After my 3,100 miles in 3 months real world driving in a large metro area with daily work-home driving 85% under 40mph and 15% at 55-65mph my average is 26.1-26.4ish MPG. Thanks to Irma, I got stuck in ATL for a week and tested out a rental Ford Escape. (Because I heard the Escape Engine in front of Notre Dame de Paris was so quiet, I had to rent one to try myself). Ford is quiet inside, efficient engine, smooother ride than CRV but I did felt heavy at top and light at bottom. I really was careful on the wet highway I85 when turning corners. 2017 CRV engine reminds me so much and feels really the same with 2013 Toyota Prius V (the station wagon). Both engines are a bit loud and feels the same during acceleration. Except the Toyota 1.8 litre maybe a bit faster than CRV at times, yes even it's a hybrid. Total real world gas cost: 2013 Toyota Prius V is around $80ish/month and 2017 CRV-L is around $120+ish/month. Had you ask me to buy another CRV again.....ummm, nope.
Owing and have test drive the 1.5t Honda vs the escape 2.0 , the escape wins imo. Could care less about efficiency . The torque on the escape destroys Honda crv
I agree on the nobody really care about the efficiency part. Escape is quieter, faster, and a bit more comfy to drive. But, I felt the top of the vehicle is heavier and the bottom is lighter especially at turning corners. I did not dare to go over 50 mph on highway corners, especially on a wet surface.
No replacement for displacement, even if it is 1.5t vs 2.0T. We had a Buick Encore 1.4t with a sci tune and it was very quick and could see almost 40 mpg at 60 mph. Our Envision 2.0T with ecu tune is bonkers fast with over 360 lb-ft of torque and sees 32.5 mpg at 65 mph. The 2.0T is just right!
I love my 2017 crv....the bluetooth can be a pain in the ass and LKA and censors to prevent collusion sometimes react t a car passing you...but over all I like it.
why would you place the GMC Acadia in this class? Honda needs to really work on that infotainment screen. One dial for the volume which they brought back. But otherwise there is too much real estate in and around that area.
I think the one compact suv that in my opinion is better than the Honda CR-V that this review forgot to mention is the 2018 Nissan Rogue SL. The platinum model has the ProPILOT assist option for level 2 semi autonomous driving and gorgeous interior and ride. The Nissan is a bit underpowered but it makes up for it in creature comforts.
The oil dilution issue really took away from the CRV. The CRV would of been great if the engine did not have the oil issue causing questions about its longevity for long term ownership. I recently purchased a 2019 EXL CRV with only 20k only to find out the engine was suffering from the oil dilution. Sadly I know I will not keep it long term an after much investigation I would prefer a naturally aspirated engine rather then any turbo charged engine.
I think Honda cut their own throats. I was going to trade my 2014 CRV-LX for a 2017 CRV EXL, unfortunately the only engine I could get was a Turbo except on LX. I was also going to buy my wife an Accord 2018 and it also comes with Turbo. I am a die hard fan of the reliable 2.4 and the 3.0 engine by owning several in the past. There is no way that I am going to get into Turbo. I tested drove a CRV and there was a noticeable Turbo lack. Honda haven't realized that their cars were sold on reliability, not MPG. I would buy a RDX V-6 for me and a Camry for my wife instead.
For those people who loves 2017 CRV, just make sure you REALLY play a lot and for a long time in the dealer before you commit a purchase. The "new" 2017 Honda touchscreen is slower then my 2003 HTC cell phone touch screen. But for the fair comparison, so is my 2013 Toyota Prius V, both slooowww..... If you're used to iPhone or Samsung touchscreens, both cars touch screens are won't be your first choice. I won't even bring up the Bluetooth pairing pain.
Yeah it runs on android kitkat I believe and it's not gonna have the processor, ram, and overall speed of a modern flagship smartphone. It's a value compromise for a vehicle that's very good by most objective measurements.
LOL at Tucson winning comparison. Done by reviewer who has probably never put a kid in a back seat, taken a family on a road trip, put bikes in a car or even gone camping. Never mind the Tucson's 2007 fuel economy. The Cx5 is also way better than the Tucson.
A lot of these review people, only talk about how the car looks, and how it drives, which is easy, but none of them, ever talk about the cost of maintenance, labor, and reliability. Probably because they don't do maintenance on the car themselves and just send it to a dealer or mechanic, and I guess the other reason why, is because they just only have the car for a few weeks and that's it. Whereas a guy like me, likes to keep his car for more than 5-10 years, and I do my own maintenance. They should do the same. Give another review after more than 5 years with the vehicle, talking about maintenance costs. Then, they would have my attention.
I guess because it’s difficult to make comments about a car’s reliability or maintenance cost when it just launched. That’s why you go to consumer reports forums to find out more from long term users of the car you want.
The Hyundai is nice, but the only thing that would keep me from buying one is the transmission. I currently own a car with a dual clutch transmission. After having to constantly put my car in the shop for transmission problems and having to sue the company that made my car (Ford), I will never buy another vehicle with one. I don't care how great they supposedly are, how many improvements they make to them, I will never ever buy another vehicle with a dual clutch transmission.
Sorry, that Hyundai is utter shit when compared to the CR-V. Power, economy, options, space...That comparison was without a doubt, the biggest blackeye ever at AutoGuide.
Like so many reviewers that fawn over the latest generation Honda CR-V, they tend to gloss over or even ignore the two major flaws this vehicle has: 1) Infotainment system - while Honda constantly trumpets it’s driver safety system, they turn around and put a POS infotainment system that is slow, interaction-focused, and pathetic compared to the competition. They added a VOLUME CONTROL to this thing last year, and wanted a Nobel Peace Prize for it. Whomever reviewed and approved this junk for installation into Hondas should be fired… then shot! 2) The REAL deal breaker - the already marginally comfortable seats provide a killshot for many potential buyers by not having a seat height control for the passenger side. My wife and I have looked at the CR-V Touring three times over the past 18 months, and because of the passenger’s seat fixed height (LOW like sitting in a go kart!) and no way to raise it… we walked away. I’m barely 6’, she’s 5’4”, we travel a lot & swap off driving, and we both hated the passenger seat - she could barely see over the danged dash! Mind you, I’m not beating up on just Honda - Toyota and some other car manufacturers do the same thing up through almost every vehicle and their highest level of trim (funny, Ford, GM, Kia & Hyundai among others have done it!). All because some corporate bean counter says we don’t need that function….. Had Honda resolved these issues, I’d have a loaded new CR-V Touring in my garage as we speak. And I would have gladly paid a couple of hundred dollars more for the car, too. People will buy crap cars with a slew of notable flaws like above for a fortune nowadays - just look around you at a traffic light, and see what I mean. What is annoying is that Honda could resolve these issues without any major reengineering problems, and have a pretty nice crossover. But, you have those pesky stockholders and that profit margin to maintain…. and in the meantime, Honda's CR-V sales have leveled off... going down????
Because in Canada, it's pronounced that way just like in other countries. In the USA, it's pronounced differently. In the same vein, for example, Mazda (Mahz-dah in the US, Mehz-da in Australia, UK, NZ, etc) Nissan (Nee-SAHN in the US, Nee-sen in Australia, UK, NZ, etc). No big deal with differing global pronunciations.
Tina, as the reviewer said, the junk double-clutch transmission in the Hyundai pretty much knocked it out of the competition. Lord knows why Hyundai (or Ford with their Focus) ever used these crap transmissions. I drove one for a short distance, and really disliked the clunky shifting.
I did see that, but even if the transmission in the Hyundai did not suck, I would not buy it because of the horrible resale value. They've had issues with that double clutch transmissions starting with the Veloster in 2012 I don't understand why they are still using it.
I feel that to compete against Honda, Hyundai is the closest car brands. However, do not count out Toyota’s Camry or Ford’s Explorer! Lastly, the best of 2017 is Honda Civic with design, engine, reliability, interior features and price.
Oil dilution.? Engine has a flaw. I’ve owned two great CRVs current being my 2009 third generation and I will not buy this generation. Honda should have never never never put a turbo engine into a CRV. Piston rings were not properly manufactured and that’s why the gas goes over it and drips into the engine oil
We just bought a new 2019 with the 1.5 Even knowing the issues this engine had. I have no concern over it, I believe the issue was repaired with a software download. Overall its a very impressive car.
@@mph5896 have you had any issues since this comment? I purchased one as well, even knowing of these issues. I live in Florida & mine has no issues warming up within 10 minutes!

@@rockygambina312
That seems like a really unfair and pointless comparison.
@@Lucky8s Don't blame me, I don't make the decisions on the comparison rules for suv of the year.
Just bought 2017 crv
I think Honda cut their own throats. I was going to trade my 2014 CRV-LX for a 2017 CRV EXL, unfortunately the
only engine I could get was a Turbo except on LX. I was also going to buy my wife an Accord 2018 and it also
comes with Turbo. I am a die hard fan of the reliable 2.4 and the 3.0 engine by owning several in the past. There is
no way that I am going to get into Turbo. I tested drove a CRV and there was a noticeable Turbo lack. Honda
haven't realized that their cars were sold on reliability, not MPG. I would buy a RDX V-6 for me and a Camry for my
wife instead.
ITs the government pushing the mpg.
I wish they build the hybrid version
The lag in acceleration should have disqualified Honda from the get go.
This guy is like a fish, he just goes after the flashiest lure..
I have the 2018 Honda CRV touring. The touch screen is fine and I never had trouble with it
The repair rate on 2016+ CR-V is ridiculously higher than average proven a new design is not as good as the outgoing one.
I’ve had the 2017 CRV for. 15 months and the screen runs just fine, no lag issues.
I like the background music
The Equinox 1.5t with AWD is $6,000 and a much better deal. Might one reason the Equinox is outselling the CR-V for 2018.
Intro needs to be six minutes longer
Never buy a car with a turbo engine, always ends badly.
Simply not true
@Jon Kozak
Had a turbo diesel for 13 years and still runs great.
Is this a music video?
Like so many reviewers that fawn over the latest generation Honda CR-V, they tend to gloss over or even ignore the two major flaws this vehicle has:
1) Infotainment system - while Honda constantly trumpets it’s driver safety system, they turn around and put a POS infotainment system that is slow, interaction-focused, and pathetic compared to the competition.
CR-V really needs that 2L Turbo Engine.. 1.5L Civic Engine is very anemic
Gasoline in oil. Yuck!!
thats funny your comment made me laugh
How much Honda paid this guy?
You guys can skip the racket at the beginning.
Honda>Hyundai. When your junk Hyundai is always breaking, you will wish you bought the Honda....
if honda put turbo on 2.4 engine it would be better
Get rid of the Turbo's and the CVT transmissions and you will have a SUV
I just can't believe how badly that guy needs a haircut.
I got a Hyundai ad before this
Issues with excessive and unacceptable fuel getting into the oil? not so great. Honda has not been swift enough to respond.
Most haters here own a Kia or Hyundai and are pissed off at their choice
Great review.
After all, it is CVT.
First 1:40 totally unnecessary
Damn expensive i think with some rebates on the murano the murano will come out cheaper with lower interest
But you would be stuck driving a POS Nissan.
I own this vehicle
Lmao why did he call it sportaaaaâaaaaage
Because in Canada, it's pronounced that way just like in other countries. In the USA, it's pronounced differently. In the same vein, for example, Mazda (Mahz-dah in the US, Mehz-da in Australia, UK, NZ, etc) Nissan (Nee-SAHN in the US, Nee-sen in Australia, UK, NZ, etc). No big deal with differing global pronunciations.
Woooooooow I like it 😍
Comparing a CRV 2 a Rav4 ..Yea,The CRV cost a whoooooole lot more..
Except the Hyundai does not hold is resale value, which trumps anything else it may offer over the CRV. IMHO.
RASHAD CHOWDHURY The Rav4 is truly hard to beat.
Lots of people just bought Rav4, because of the name Toyota. It's not that special car and I drove both Rav4 and Crv. Crv is much better than Rav4.
HipHopCantSaveMe toyotaxi.. nah dinosaur technology as mentioned.. one generation behind
I heard that In other countries..
The CRV has a 9speed AT!!!
Lawrenz Nelson - yeah. In the Philippines they offer 9 speed AT a 7 seater for Diesel Variant and CVT a 5 seater for Petrol Variant.
@@raza838 0 issues. It has just under 5k on it in a 1 year period. Going in for its first oil change shorty.
@@mph5896 ok sounds good! I drive about the same amount of miles yearly as well. Such a beautiful vehicle. I wish Honda did more to combat the oil dilution situation that everyone is so concerned about. I'm loving mine!!
I Own This Car, The I VTEC CR-V
I tried to watch this but the "music" was unbearable so I had to leave.
CRV is a far better SUV than tucson
If i had money i would get audi but I bought Honda crv
if i had money id buy a rolls Royce...How stupid a comment, they don't competer.
Murano is more comfy with 0gravity seats. Even with 260hp murano goes further on a tank of gas. Compare with murano the are both 2 ton cvts that carry 5 passenger andnthey are the same length-0nly a ft difference. So they arenthe same category, but murano is better.
Sorry but Honda can keep the CVT
Why settle for less than a Honda
Copied Volvo XC60 Again with the taillights!!
